I need you to tell me how you begin counting the black squares in this grid picture. (Top to bottom, or left to right.) The picture can be found here.Edit: I do not care how many squares there are or how you counted all of them, I just need to know how you begin counting them. If you start from left to right on the top row then go top to bottom on the far left row, all I need to know is that you begin left to right on the top!!! I don't care if you multiplied or started in the middle or on anything else, all I care about is the initial direction.

Earlier today my sister and I were counting something similar, and she was counting in one direction and I was counting in the other.
I was just curious to see how many people counted in which direction.

I counted left to right on the top row, then left downwards on the first column. Then I multiplied each by each other and got 36. xD It's much more practical to me.

I saw 4 squares of 3 by 3 . . . Soooo, (3^2) x 4 >.> It happened in milliseconds in my head. I also see 25 small flashing black squares . . . which gave me a headache.

Right to left. No option for it in the poll (And I had to find it in an external source <.< )

Top to bottom on the rightmost column, then right to left on the bottommost row (and multiplied to get the total).
