The training accommodations had been a fortuitous discovery, Aila had decided upon finding them. They were well equipped for the exercise of any number of different pokemon, moves, and battle styles. She had thought to make use of them, perhaps even enable her Bulbasaur to learn some new tricks, but Fleur would not be fooled. This was not work time. And if it was not work time, it was play time. The little seed pokemon romped and tumbled, using the equipment for her own amusement and pointedly ignoring any of her trainer's commands.
Aila had given up with an indignant sigh and was now training her own endurance, hanging upside down from a bar she imagined was a part of some kind of obstacle course for flying types and leafing through a particularly dry treatise on the innermost workings a successful cooperative group.

It had taken some pestering on her pokemons' part, but Jen soon found herself dressed for a day in the gyms with her pokemon at her heels.
"I just hope there's no one we wouldn't want in here today..." The rocket frowned slightly (not mentioning names, of course) as she let the two pokemon scamper into the gym before entering herself. A pause and look around revealed none of the dreaded faces, but a couple new ones.
What a relief. "Alright, ya two." Tossing her duffel bag onto a set of bleachers, the Rocket turned towards the Charmeleon and Pikachu infront of her. "What's say we get crackin'?"
"PIKA!" "Meleon!"
The pale-colored Pikachu was off like a shot towards the speed course set out near the center of the room. The Charmeleon, on the other hand, would be doing physical work. Claws flexing, he started on a training dummy his trainer pointed out. She would have joined him, had the person hanging from the endurance course caught her attention. With a small smile on her face, Jen walked over to stand infront of the new face. "Ya know...Ive heard of people liking the sensation of blood rushing to their heads..." She laughed a bit. "But I think this is taking it a bit over the top."

Fleur stopped in her tracks as two pokemon took to their stations. Her excitement at the potential for new friends was dampened, though. They both seemed so... intentse. The Bulbasaur was unsure it would be wise to approach either of them. She instead stood in one place, swaying slightly towards the Pikachu, then towards the Charmeleon, then towards the Pikachu, towards the Charmeleon...
Aila, however, had not noticed the trainer's or her pokemons' entrance at all, and a slight cry of surprise escaped her when she noticed Jen's face in front of her own. To add to that, her grip loosened and the book in which she had been so absorbed slipped from her hands.
Thoroughly mortified, she fumbled with her words, "I-I wasn't... It's training! Upside-down- Difficult! It's difficult! It requires practice!"
Her face reddened. How unsightly.

Both pokemon paused when they felt the eyes of the Bulbasaur on them. Within a few moments, both pokemon were standing infront of Fleur. Aeon stared at the grass pokemon, nose and ears twitching before he kind of dismissed her with a light "Pi"; Cinaed, on the other hand, held out a clawed forepaw while a bright smile decorated his muzzle.
Always the social one, he was.
Jen snickered at the red flush across the other grunts' face before bending over to pick up the book she was reading. "Whatever you say. Im not one to judge someone else's training ideas..." She did frown though at the contents of the book in her hand before holding it back up. "But I do judge this load of junk. Why the heck are you reading this? This thing was probably written by someone who's never actually done anything they've published."

A bright "saaauurrr" rumbled from Fleur's throat as she reached to clasp Cinaed's claws in her own vines. Friends! Friends were wonderful!
Aila climbed down from the bar and retrieved the book from Jen's hands with a small utterance of thanks. She averted her gaze as she considered her response.
"I... lack experience with cooperation," she explained, hugging the text to her body. Rosy eyes turned up to meet those of the taller woman. "The fact that the information was published suggests that it has at least some degree of merit. The author's knowledge exceeds my own, and so I am able to learn without inconveniencing others."
She spared a glance in her Bulbasaur's direction. Were all pokemon hardwired with the capacity to get along with others...?

"Lack cooperation?"
Eyebrow raised at the explanation, she motioned towards the three pokemon behind her. Mainly at the Bulbsaur her pokemon was chatting with. "Cooperation isn't something you learn from a book or watching from the sidelines. Its something that requires either something major happening or a slow process over time."
Jen smiled and motioned for her Pikachu to come over. When Aeon climbed up onto her shoulder, she reached up to scratch him behind the ear. "And the latter is something we do with our pokemon. We learn each others' ups and downs, insides and outs. That way, we can cooperate and work together." She grinned at the other Rocket. "So, pretty much, its the same with humans."

Aila thought on the words, giving them careful consideration. She had always treated Fleur as a tool - an inconvenient one that required things such as meals and rest, but far more versatile than, say, a glass cutter or a screwdriver. Everything she knew about the Bulbasaur was knowledge that had been forced on her as a result of their time together. She had never actively tried to learn anything... She took in the information with a hum.
A thought came to her then, and she bowed into a slight curtsy. "My name is Aila. Please pardon the delay in my introduction. ...I hope that I may learn to work well with you."

Returning the curtsy with a gentleman-style bow at the waist, Aeon taking this moment to drop himself back onto the floor, Jen straightened and nodded at Aila.
"Names' Jennifer, call me Jen if you want. Less of a mouthful anywho." A pause before the Rocket turned back towards her fire pokemon. From the way Cinaed was chatting, the social pokemon clearly liked the little Bulbasaur.
"And no need to be so formal. If we're gunna work together, there's no need to act like im superior to ya." Jen laughed. "Im still pretty low on the Rocket food chain."

Jennifer, Jen... This was some kind of test, wasn't it? She would be evaluated based on what form of address she chose, wouldn't she? Nicknames, she had read, were a way in which familiarity manifested itself. Was she to treat this woman as an acquaintance or a friend? Which would offend more or less? Aila considered everything quickly before deciding to avoid addressing Jen by her name until she was more certain of their relationship.
Aila followed Jen's gaze to her own Bulbasaur. The little seed pokemon seemed absolutely thrilled that she had found a friend. The young thief was momentarily amazed that she and her partner could have such vastly different personalities and priorities.
She listened to Jen's comment on her demeanor and reflected on it briefly. "Is there a particular way you would prefer I behave?" she asked, unable to think of an answer on her own. "If there is a manner you wish to suggest, I am at the very least obligated to attempt it."

Jen simply stared at Aila with a raised eyebrow and a small frown on her face. Apparently, this gal tore things open and picked it clean of every single little deal.
Interesting. The grunt approved of that sort of attitude at times.
But....obviously she wasnt use to the middle-class style of conversation Jen had used all her life.
"I just dont want you to act all formal and whatnot. Im not gunna report ya if you relax a bit." She grinned slightly and crossed her arms over her chest. "Im just a simple ranch girl. Im afraid being like that is beyond me."

Aila fidgeted her thumbs slightly in consideration. What qualified 'formal' anyway? She was aware that others spoke in manners different from herself, but she had never evaluated it so thoroughly as to understand those differences.
"I shall do my best," she said, brow furrowed in concentration. "That is... I shall... attempt it? Give my best effort? Do so to the best of my abilities?" It was harder than it sounded.
