"Keep your coats on, now! It looks like it's going to rain!" Otomeza called out to the twins as they scampered out across the park. She sighed, hoping that they heard and would listen this time. The excuse "I forgot" only worked so many times, and she didn't want either of them to catch a cold. She moseyed on after them at a slower pace, keeping an eye on them as opposed to joining in on their games.

Iridian ran out at top speed across the grass for a few moments before he slowed his steps, turning around at a halt to see Cheyenne failing to keep up. Tail twitching to hold his energy, he cupped his hands on either side of his mouth and called to the younger one, "C'mon, slow poke!" With a laugh, he took off again, wondering if that would goad the albino to move faster.

Cheyenne was about to shoot a glare to the back of Iridian's scaled wing-tines before his eyes caught sight of a dark patch to his left. Turning his head, panting with the use of so much energy, he stopped as he saw the cave enveloped in darkness. He'd never really seen one before, and the darkness seemed much more inviting than this large expanse of grass.

"Cheyenne, what's-- woooah!" Iridian attempted to ask, now standing next to his opposite, before he finally caught sight of the tunnel. It was no wonder Iridian hadn't seen it while he was running -- it came up on his blind side. Smiling mischievously, he kicked off his boots and socks as he asked, "Wanna go check it out?"

Bleez kicked at the rocks by the entrance of the cave with her bare feet. It was another day and once more she'd escaped that horrid tyrant known as her mother. She hadn't looked at the weather forecast, so she was in her usual attire (and a little chilled at the moment). But hopefully it'd help her temper cool down.

She kicked at another rock, pausing as she listened to the echo reverberate through the cave. She'd thought about going in, but it seemed really dark and she didn't have any light source on her anywhere. Didn't bats live in caves too? What if there were bats in there? She wasn't too sure if she liked that idea as she shuddered just thinking about it. Or was that the breeze that just blew by? It's not like she was afraid of bats or anything, right? She thought about the movie she'd seen were bats were actually vampires; creatures of the night that much like humans with fangs. They would suck the blood out of their victim and leave them for dead or worse, turn them into a vampire. Bleez was pretty sure that bats weren't really like that, but she had no desire to find out first hand. Note to self: read about bats.

Oh what, to do, what to do?

Cheyenne rocked a little, side-to-side. He wanted to go in, sure, but... he was so indecisive about it. They were suppose to be playing in the park, after all. Otomeza would probably get mad at them if she found out they were playing in a cave, wouldn't she? Besides, he didn't want to bother the preteen that was already over there... Iridian knew better, however, and grabbed hold of the albino's wrist to pull him along. "C'mon!" he urged. Why else would Cheyenne stop in front of the cave unless he was curious about it anyway?

Iridian froze when he finally realized that he was seeing a figure silhouetted by the dark, pacing back and forth. Once his surprise subsided, he had even more of a reason to go to the cave. The possibility of new friends always struck his fancy, to Cheyenne's chagrin. The pale toddler sighed; couldn't they just keep to themselves?

Unfortunately, it seemed that Iridian forgot to release his grip on Cheyenne's wrist before walking up to the older spawn, stretching his scaled wing tines as if they were fully wings. "'Ello!" he chirped in an attempt to get Bleez's attention, "I'm 'Ridian, 'n this is Ennie!"

Scowling, Cheyenne kicked Iridian in the back of the ankle in a half-hearted attempt to hide the action from Bleez. "Cheyenne," he corrected. Couldn't they just head into the cave already?

Bleez craned her neck to get a look at the two toddlers without her having to move. She was subconsciously happy that something was here to take her mind off of vampire bats. "'Ello," she returned the greeting, turning towards them now. What an interesting little pair they were.

"Name's.Bleez," she motioned to herself, trying to look as cool and calm as she could in front of little ones despite her irrational fear of the bats that might not even be in the cave. "Whatcha.little.ones.up.to?"

"Bleez!" Iridian repeated with a slight gasp past his eternal grin, "Tha's a cool name!" It wasn't one that he was expecting, and he hadn't really heard of one similar before. Cheyenne rolled his eyes slightly at the reaction his brother had given, thinking that it was a little over-the-top. Then again, Iridian was never one that was much for subtlety...

Bouncing, the dark teal-haired boy turned so that his shoulder faced the cave more fully. "We was going to check out the cave!" he answered for the both of them, pointing toward the darkness inside. To be honest, there wasn't much to the large expanse of the park other than a scattering of trees, brush, benches, and a concrete walkway, but Iridian could have just as easily found entertainment anywhere within it. "Did you go in?" Maybe if the older spawn hadn't already been inside, she could go in with them to check it out. Heck, even if Bleez had already seen it, perhaps she could lead them even easier!

Cheyenne, meanwhile, was trying to twist his arm out of his brother's grip. Iridian was rather oblivious to the fact that his hand was clasped a little too tight for this to be accomplished very easily.

Bleez was flattered that the kid thought her name was cool. It didn't take much to flatter her, though, really. But it was nice of Iridian to say, nonetheless. It made her tail stop twitching from side to side nervously for a moment.

Then Iridian said they were going to check out the cave. Oh dear, Bleez internally shuddered as her tail began to twitch back and forth again. These two little tots were going to fearlessly enter the cave that she'd been standing outside the mouth of, so frightened? What a coward she felt! "Uh,no.I.'aven't.gone.in." She turned back towards the cave, trying to keep her cool.

"There.might.be.bats.in.there." She blurted as the thought crossed her mind again. Quickly, as to not look like she was afraid, she added, "Didn't.want.to.disturb.them.or.anything,ya.know?" She hoped the twins took her bait and just thought she cared for the well-being of the bats rather than her personal well-being.

Seems the two twins were both equally oblivious to Bleez's anxiety about entering the cave; Iridian was much too interested in learning about the unknown, and Cheyenne just felt safer in the dark. Since Bleez hadn't actually ventured in, it would be as equally fascinating for all of them to check the place out together, right?

Well, at least it would be, if that notion of the bats wasn't there. "Bats?" Iridian asked, eyes full of curiosity. "I never seen one a'fore!" he chirped, almost bounding into the cave by himself if it wasn't for the fact that Cheyenne was standing stalk-still, acting as an anchor to the child that still clung onto his wrist.

Idiot, didn't he just hear what the older kid just said? Cheyenne grumbled to himself, shooting his brother a slight glare in an attempt to get him to re-think over what was just relayed to them -- ALL of it. Unfortunately, Iridian didn't really understand what his quiet brother was trying to get across. His glowing eye followed Cheyenne's frown, and after a look of mild confusion, turned back to Bleez. Frustrated, Cheyenne opted to voice his thought, finding that he wasn't getting his point across any other way. "We could stay at the front," he stated simply. They didn't really need to enter that deep into the cave to have fun, after all.

Iridian huffed lightly, feeling slightly defeated. Oh well, maybe he could go in deeper the next time they were here. He supposed it would be okay to solely check out the entrance this time, considering the two twins had never actually been in a cave before. It was a good introduction, at least! "Wanna go in?" he asked, hopping a little as he spoke to the older spawn.

How could she say no to such enthusiasm and excitement? "Sure." She choked, then faked a cough to cover like she'd gotten a dry spot in her throat. "Let's.go." At least they'd agreed to stay towards the entrance, that was a relief. If bats did fly out of the cave and start attacking them, they could at least run outside and find a bush to hide in... or something.

Bleez took the first "brave" steps inside the cave. After quickly looking around, thanks to her inherent speed, she was satisfied that there were no bats to be seen/worried about. "S'okay!" she called after Iridian and Cheyenne.

"S'okay... S'okay... S'okay..." the cave called back, in her voice. She spun around to see that no one was in the cave but her, then remembered that was called an echo. She snapped her non-clawed fingers. "Oh.yeah!"

"Oh.yeah... Oh.yeah... Oh.yeah..." the cave repeated. Bleez smiled and motioned to the twins to join her.

The twins followed Bleez inside the cave once they were told that it was safe, Iridian barely waiting long enough for the word to escape her mouth in his eagerness. Both their heads popped up to look at the ceiling when Bleez's voice began to echo down the tunnel way, Cheyenne's with the added ear-twitch. "Wooooah!" Iridian gawked, wiggling his spindly wings in excitement again.

With a giggle, Iridian finally released his grip on his younger brother's wrist to cup the hands around his own mouth. "'Ellooo!" he called down the cave, listening to it as it seemed to respond back to his greeting.

His voice may have been a mite too loud, but he didn't seem to notice while he was so riled up. Cheyenne, however, held his hands up briefly to his long ears, shaking his head, and wandering over to take up residence on the side of the cave wall, none too far away. Sliding down to the floor, he plucked at a stray grass blade and started peeling it apart into slivers. Despite himself, he had a smile on his face in reaction to the echoing cave.

"Having fuuun?" Iridian continued to call down the cave, as if he were having an engaging conversation with the inanimate area. He spit out a snicker, turning back to Bleez, "The cave's having fun, too!"

Bleez glanced over at the pale spawn. She wondered if he was okay, he didn't seem to be having much fun. But he was smiling, so maybe he was just a quiet one.

The Wrath spawn chuckled, despite herself, as the other spawn boy grabbed her attention. "Yeah,it.definitely.sounds.like.it's.having.fun.too!"

"Wacth.dis.one!" Bleez smirked her usual one-fang smirk and cupped her hands around her mouth like Iridian had. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and released a massive roar down the tunnel.

The echo reverberated off the walls and back at the three spawn. It sounded like several angry bears or creatures long forgotten were residing deep in the cave.

Bleez placed her hands on her hips, pleased with her roaring job. "Why.don'tcha.try,Cheynne?" she asked without looking at either spawn. She hadn't thought about any repercussions her roar might've had on the twins... or anything else in the cave.

Bleez's roar seemed to rock the entire world around them, and took both twins by surprise. Iridian's ears clasped onto his ears to lessen the impact of the sound on his eardrums, but his giddy laughing never stopped. Instead, his own voice was drowned in the roar around him, and once the echoing had stopped, he was left speechless in awe.

Cheyenne had curled up a little in reaction to the sound, abruptly dropping his little "project" from his tiny hands to latch onto his own ears. His feathers bristled, much like the fur on the tail of a cat, and refused to lie back down comfortably. His barbed tail was poised, pointing upward like a rattlesnake ready to strike, but quivered with the rate his heart was pounding.

Once Iridian found his voice again, he let off another laugh. Hopping a little, talking loudly to overcome the ringing in his ears, he responded, "Tha' was so cool! Is like there a monster living down there!" He squealed in delight, the prospective thought egging his imagination on. To help with Bleez's nudge toward his brother, the hyper toddler dashed over to the seated albino, pulling him back upright despite the stiffened objection. Jostling him to stand between the two of them, hands on either of his pale shoulders, he said, "Yeah, you try now!"

Did his brother just lose his marbles with the strength of that roar? Did he honestly think that he would do the same-such thing? Iridian shoved his younger brother in an attempt to force it out, but Cheyenne only squeaked in reaction (which also echoed, but was rather pathetic), his eyes still huge and feathers remaining bristled.

"Nnh, I dun' think he's gonna," Iridian mused, disappointed.

Bleez bent down low so her vision was on the same level as Cheyenne's. Her frown was more than visible. Had she frightened the little one? She placed her "normal" arm on the spawn's shoulder lightly. "Sorry.if.that.scared.ya. Didn'.mean.for.it.to." She patted his shoulder gently. "Ya.don't.have.to.yell.or.anything,but.it's.really.pretty.cool.to.hear.the.echo. You.should.at.least.give.it.a.try.though."

She plopped down on her butt with a hard "thud." A small smile returned to her face as she looked at the albino child, trying to get him to smile back. "Ya.don'.hafta.roar," she stated rather bluntly, "Try.makin'.another.noise. Far's.I.know.they.all.echo." Bleez turned away from Cheyenne and blew a raspberry towards the darkness of the cave. The primitive sound echoed back, a little distorted and much quieter, since it wasn't very loud to begin with.

Looking back to Cheyenne, she decided to strike up a deal, "You.make.a.noise.and.we.can.go.do.what.ya.wanna.do."

Cheyenne's barbed tail twitched slightly from side-to-side, and Iridian found himself quickly side-stepping out of the way of it's reach to avoid getting scratched by it. He grumbled slightly, muttering under his breath, "I'm not scared..." Despite the words, his actions told a much different story, and he started to take note of that. He didn't want to look Bleez in the eyes, as he felt that it was giving too much away, but he was rubbing at an arm in nervousness.

"C'mooon!" Iridian helped in urging his twin on. He knew that Cheyenne rarely liked to speak, but he didn't have to be that way! What was the fun in it, anyway? "When you gonna ge' to again?" he tried to point out, despite knowing that it probably wouldn't work. Alternating his weight on either foot, he held up a single finger, "One?" If they could get the quiet one to join in on the activity, he was sure that the younger toddler would be enjoying himself that much more.

Iridian's ideas were cut short when Bleez blew the raspberry down the cave, his voice cut off with another fit of giggles. Cheyenne, however, seemed surprised that the sound actually echoed at all. Thinking it over, the pale toddler figured that if the action would get the two of them to stop trying to get him to talk so much, he could get one thing to echo. Now the only problem was figuring out what to say, something that he was comfortable with hearing coming back to his ears.

Before he could come to a consensus, however, an idea struck him instead. The mention of a deal... but his idea switched the order of the two, which came first. Grabbing at a flustered wing, he started trying to lay the feathers back down as he turned to Bleez, eyes befallen with the question that was behind them. "Could you show me something first?" he asked, voice rather quiet in the stale stillness around them. Iridian felt intrigued -- this was something new. Glancing over to look Bleez in the eyes, he motioned to his mouth and stated simply, "How you whistle?" That would be something that he would like to try echoing down the caves.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:36 pm

Cheyenne's request threw Bleez off a bit. She'd never tried to explain how to whistle to someone before, she just knew how, if that made sense. "Well, uh..." She started rather fruitlessly. "Well,I.only.know.one.way.ta.whistle." she paused, then added the explanation, "I.don'.whistle.like.most.people.cuz.of.this." She pointed to her solitary fang. "Dis.prevents.me.from.whistling.like.most.other.people. But.I.can.show.ya.my.way."

Bleez shifted, sitting up straighter and exercising her mouth. "It's.looks.silly,I.know,but.the.results.are.loud,just.ta.warn.ya." She pulled the corners of her mouth back as her bottom lip became taut over her teeth. Her upper lip raised a little, showing her teeth and one fang. She took a deep breath and forced the air out quickly, creating a loud, single-toned whistle. She didn't keep it going as she was just demonstrating. "Dat's.my.whistle."

She scooted on the floor so that both twins could see her face better. "Whatcha.do.is.make.sure.your.bottom.lip.is.real.tight.over.your.bottom.teeth. If.ya.don't.do.this.it.won't.work." She showed them both by pulling her bottom lip taut over her teeth, then letting it go loose again. "Ya.can.'ave.your.top.teeth.showin'.if.it.helps.you,but.the.real.secret.is.your.tongue." Bleez stuck out her tongue, wriggling it around like a fat, flat worm. Pulling her tongue back in so that she could speak properly, she continued, "Yer.tongue.has.ta.be.drawn.back.so.that.it.sort.of.floats.in.your.mouth.at.the.level.of.the.lower.front.teeth." Bleez opened her mouth wide, hoping that the two others could see how she had her tongue. "Don't.touch.your.tongue.to.yer.teeth.either."

"Um..." Bleez wasn't used to trying to teach people to doing something, so she was at a loss as to what to do next. "Why.don'.cha.try.and.I'll.help.if.ya.can't.get.it.after.a.couple.tries."

Cheyenne tried to take note of all the instructions mentioned, hoping that he could remember to do everything correctly. As Bleez explained, the pale boy attempted to mimic slightly, thinking that doing some of the actions in a milder form first would be a better way to remember it all. The hard part, however, would be to place all the steps together into a single action. He disliked failure, but he also wasn't one to give up very easily.

After instruction, Cheyenne stood facing the darkness, trying to get his mouth to cooperate with him. He was uncomfortable with performing in front of an audience, especially on something that he had never done before. It also didn't help that Iridian was trying to whistle right next to him with the same set of directions. Well... okay, he was disregarding almost all of the directions after trying only the one time, finding the other sounds that came out much funnier.

The albino, thinking that he may finally have the setup complete, shoved at Iridian to silence his distracting behavior. After a moment, making sure his brother wasn't going to make any other ridiculous sound effects, tried to whistle. At first, it was all empty air escaping, but as he stopped on his third (or was it fourth?) try, he hit a note at the last possible second. Iridian clapped at the achievement, despite it being a small one, and Cheyenne couldn't help but smile a little. Now if he could only get it loud enough to echo, as well as Bleez had...

Unfortunately for him, Iridian had to hijack the silence once again with a comment that made the younger spawn flush. "He smiled! You go' 'im to smile!" the energetic toddler laughed, dropping onto the floor. Cheyenne flashed a glare to the kid, but it did little to phase him -- he didn't even see it.

Just ignore him, Cheyenne told himself, wrapping a tail around one of his own legs. Turning back to Bleez, the frown gone by that point, he asked, "What now?" He hadn't had any other ideas past that point, especially since he wasn't usually asked what he wanted to do; most of the time, he just went with the flow of things.
