I know I'm probably just panicking because... well... it's just what I do. Anyways, I'm about two weeks late for my period. My nipples are absolutly killing me. I haven't worn a bra in about two days to give them some breathing room, but even the fabric of my shirt hurts!
I took a pregnancy test (ClearBlue) yesterday morning and it came up negative. It says it can detect the hormone at 99% effectiveness the first day of the missed period. I figure two weeks and it's gotta be able to do it, right? But just waiting for my period makes me wonder if I happen to be that 1%.
I went off the pill last October (man lost his job, we had no money, ergo we stopped having sex for a little bit to save on contraception -- now that we have money again, we're using condoms until I get get a doc's appointment (I didn't want to have to risk going in on my period so I wanted to wait until after this one).). I know I'm horribly irregular when I am not on the pill, but two weeks is pushing it, I think. Combined with the killer nipples, and I wonder...
I really hope I get my period. Not just for the whole pregnancy thing, but also because I just feel awfully bloated. My tummy hurts crying
And, of course, abortions are expensive. We can afford it now, but I certainly don't want to just say goodbye to that amount of money. Not to mention how terrified I am (I hate pain, absolutly HATE pain and a lot of people I've talked to have told me it can hurt quite a bit).
Having a kid now is just completly out of the question. Financial stuff is obvious, but also we have a few things that we need done before we can think about kids. These things, while not impossible with a rug-rat, would be made extremely difficult.
Anyways, *fingers crossed*
Who'da thought I'd ever be hoping to spew blood out of my genitals?

Call up your doctor and try to book an emergency appointment. They usually leave 2 or 3 slots open for these each day so you should be able to get in quickly. Honenestly the pregnancy test really should have picked it up if you were now but I know it's freaking you out so go see the doc so that you can be sure and figure things out from there.

Ceasing to use the pill, along with nearly every other sort of birth control, can initiate irregular hormonal activity. This would explain why your breasts are killing you (especially if your body is preparing for menstruation and hasn't managed it yet) and the majority of your paranoia. In all honestly, I sincerely doubt that you're pregnant.
I couldn't help but to respond to this one because for some strange a** reason, I have five people (three friends and two sisters) who were all spazzing about this at the same time. The same exact moment. I was laughing because of the coincidence that all the women I knew had their periods at the same time, and all of them were missing their periods. All were on birth control. All but my eldest sister have been to the gyno and cleared of pregnancy. Menstruation was just "out of whack" this month for them. Strange, no?
I'm glad you're considering the reality, however, if you were actually pregnant. It's just my opinion, but I don't think you are. Wait until Monday, make an appointment and fill your gyno in on the gruesome details.
Side note: I enjoyed your profile. Very intriguing.

All but my eldest sister have been to the gyno and cleared of pregnancy. Menstruation was just "out of whack" this month for them. Strange, no? Funny, yes, but not really strange smile Women who are around together a lot tend to get on the same menstrual cycle (it has something to do with pharamones). So one being all weird could be affecting the others. I hope they all have the same answer as your eldest sister biggrin Kalandra I'm glad you're considering the reality, however, if you were actually pregnant. It's just my opinion, but I don't think you are. Wait until Monday, make an appointment and fill your gyno in on the gruesome details. A huge part of me agrees with you (which is why I'm even on Gaia and not running around tearing my hair out, lol). It's just that nagging panicky part. It feels really good to hear someone else say it, though smile Thank you. Chalda: I'm in a bit of a weird situation. I'm an international student and my insurance (unless I am literally inches from death) only covers me visiting University doctors who are, unfortunatly, researchers and thus only work 9-5 weekdays. It usually takes about 1-2 weeks to get an appointment. I'll be calling on Monday, though! Kalandra Side note: I enjoyed your profile. Very intriguing. Thank you very much smile

Ahh yes... US insurance. Sorry I forgot about that. Well notify them of the emergency status anyway and hopefully they will slot you in early. Good luck!

Well, you could be but I wouldn't go just on the symptoms. I think you know the spiel about all the things that can cause them. ;]
As for HcG detection, it really depends on the woman. We have a few members in GPG who never made enough their first 4-5 months of pregnancy for a urine test to pick it up, so it is possible for a test to not get it even two weeks in. One woman, all her pregnancies were like that and could only be confirmed by blood tests which are more accurate and sensitive to lower amounts of HcG. So while it's unlikely this is the case, it could indeed happen.
When I hit about the 21/22ish range, my breasts did a total 180 on me. I had never had tender breasts or nipples before and all of a sudden they were like that all the time, which of course made me super paranoid about being pregnant as it was unusual for me until about 4 months into it I realized it wasn't going away, I had just changed. So your change in your breasts could also be developmental.
So until you get into for an appointment, just try to relax and not stress about it, as hard as that is. sweatdrop It'll just make the symptoms worse and then make you worry more...etc. Vicious cycle it is.
If they can't get you in at the Uni, any chance you have a Planned Parenthood by you?

I'm 21, so maybe my breasts and your breasts are in on this together somehow.
I'll look for a planned parenthood. Thank you!

Thank you very much smile
I had my first real panic attack last night (since, as I said, I will be making a doc's appointment today -- running all possible scenarios through my head). But yes, we're talked about our "what ifs" and we're both pretty happy and confident with our decisions.
*deep breath*
I'm ok smile

Doctors are so strange.
I called and the secretary said "can you hold, please?" and hung up. Like... ok...
So I called again and explained the problem and asked for an emergency appointment. She said that there were no appointments until next Friday (that's NEXT Friday, not this coming one). She said that if I want results quicker, I should go to a different office. Of course, I can't go anywhere else because of my weird insurance. So I explained and she said "well, I can book you for a walk-in."
BOOK a walk-in? Isn't the very concept of a walk-in that you DON'T book it? I will honestly never understand these people. BUT, the good news is that I have an appointment tomorrow morning at 10:30. Wish me luck!

Well, they wouldn't do a blood test without a positive urine test (which, in a way, is a bit odd since the blood test is more sensitive than the urine one, so if you have the urine, it's pretty much guaranteed that you are pregnant (or recently miscarried or something). But yeah, whatever). So they did another test and it came out negative again.
The doc said that it's probably stress or something and that I should just wait (he proscribed the figurative "chill pill" lol). And he said that if I still haven't had my period in 3-4 weeks, there might be something (other than a pregnancy) wrong and that I should make an appointment with my normal doctor. But that he did give me a brief physical and I seem ok except for normal stress symptoms.
So Kuku shall breathe easy for now, take the rest of the day off, and sip a cup of delicious Earl Grey.
Thanks for all the support, guys smile It's been a real blessing!
