All of us No Namers are of different ages, cultures, and from different places, and we've all had experiences that held a great life lesson. But occasionally us wise ones need advice, too, and this is the place to ask for it!

So, roughknite's birthday is coming up, and I want to get him something nice. The question is, do I really? I was looking at a ps3 and thats going to be 300 in itself. I then resorted to looking at musical equipment. The one hes been talking about is around 200. I understand that he doesn't care and its the thoughts that count, but this strong desire to buy him something is plaguing my mind.
There is a festival that we could go to, but I don't know if he'll like a latino festival and it doesn't really have the "bang" that I want. I have 400$ and I have responsibilities like buying gas and another licence plate sicker.
On top of that, I need a new haircut and wanted to re decorate my room.
I'm having a ton of issues prioritizing, so...any suggestions?

So, with that in mind, you need to decide which things are absolutely essential now, and what can be done another time. Then, see how much money you would have remaining. Then see what you can get him with the money left over. You need to set yourself a price range.
And those items you were talking about are pretty serious, and pretty expensive. Have you thought about getting him a gift card in which you pay for half or three quarters of the item? You know, to help him get it - not just buy the whole thing.
It seems a little much in my opinion. So, there are my suggestions.

I guess its a plague that affects the minds of many. I was indeed thinking about giving him a gift card, so maybe I'll do that. No, redecorating my room isn't that important right now, and even with my hair bothering me, I'll live without it cut right now. Plus, showering him with expensive gifts will probably just make him feel bad burning_eyes Thank you for helping me reach this conclusion!

(Also, for the haircut thing... If you know someone who is good with scissors or has a steady hand or cuts people hair for free, you could always ask for a trim. It wouldn't be a professional cut, but it is something.)

Also, if you think just a gift card is not enough, but don't want to spend A LOT of money (which seems wise), and, if roughknite is into music like he seems to be, getting him an iTunes gift card and perhaps a CD to go with it would be a decent present, too! So long as you buy the right band... 3nodding
My advice may be useless though, as it's been almost a month since you've posted your question. sweatdrop

... yes, this is me coming to you all for advice. lol
So... my 16th birthday is coming up and I want to do something good with my friends. I'm not a big partier so throwing some insane party at my house would be... well... insane. We don't have all that much money to spare, so it can't be too expensive. And, of course, I'm limited to certain activities due to my whereabouts. But some ideas would be great... anything is better than another stupid bowling or roller skating party.

Well, since it is your birthday, I suppose it depends on what you like doing and how many people you'd want to invite. So...let's have a little brainstorming session, shall we?

Oh okay! Well the first thing that came to mind was the mall. It's got a lot of options and activities as far as doing something goes, but you don't have to spend very much money if you don't want to. Maybe even go to the movies since you won't be at the mall for that long. I think it depends on how much time you want to set aside for family and then friends. If all else fails a nice restaurant is something everyone could do, and since you'll only be paying for yourself its pretty inexpensive.
