Heaven-Leigh let out a squeal of delight as her hooves hit the warm sand of the beach. It was a nice day, and the beach was one of her favorite places to be. She liked the warm breeze, the sound of the waves, and the smells of the ocean.
She paused where she stood and took it all in. There weren't any other soquili around. It was just her and the beach. She would enjoy her time here as much as she could, but she did hope that someone would come along eventually. Being alone had it's advantages, but it got lonely after awhile. She figured someone would come to the beach eventually though, they always did.
She started to canter towards the water, laughing as she did. After only a few steps, her right front hoof sunk lower than the others had, throwing her off balance. She stumbled and fell forward into the sand. It hurt a little, but after a few seconds, instead of getting up she rolled over in the sand, laughing as she did. It didn't matter after all; there was no one there to see her.

 As Emille made her way to the beach, her first steps into the sand made her frown a little bit. It was her first time being there, and she was wondering if it was supposed to feel like that; the sand... Was too warm on her hooves and they seemed to cause her to sink into it...? The sun also seemed to be quite hotter than she was used to. Only thing Emille seemed to be enjoying so far was the breeze that reminded her of home. "I guess being with my parents spoiled me a little bit," she though. After all, they were living in the forest.
As she stood there, she looked out towards the horizon, enjoying the view of where the ocean met the water, making her curious to if the sky and the ocean ever seemed to 'blend in together'. It was an odd day for her, and her mind kept wandering. "I wonder if I could draw momma and papa in the sand here..."
Moving closer to where the ocean hit the sand, it was a little more moist there and she drew her parents in the wet sand using her little spear. Emille was concentrated so much on drawing that she hadn't noticed she had approached another mare playing in the water.

Heaven-Leigh made one last roll and then shakily got to her feet again, tossing her head to shake away any sand. She never minded the sand getting on her, she could always just take a bath in the river when she went home.
As she turned her head she noticed something a little bit down the shore. It was another Soquili! She was tan with a pretty brown mane and tail, and what looked like a green cape draped about her. She was drawing in the sand with a very straight stick, and it greatly drew Heaven-Leigh's interest; she liked to draw in the sand too.
Picking up a piece of drift wood in her mouth (the straightest piece she could find) she trotted over to the mare, trying just a little bit to be more careful than last time. She slowed down to a walk when she got close and said brightly, "hello! You don't care if I join you, do you?"

Emille was surprised by the sudden noise. When she looked up, her childhood habit of blushing when she was approached by anyone occured. "H-hi, Miss." She smiled at the mare.
"Of course you can join me!" Emille smiled as she looked down at the sand. "I drew my mum and dad. It's kind of lonely without them, but it's been fun seeing places by myself!"
For Emille, it was her first time seeing someone so... Colorful. Both of her mom, dad, and sister had a natural colored coat, but she... She was pink! "You're a very pretty color!"
After she said it, she was a little shocked at herself. "I really have to think before I say things."
Looking at the mare's horn, Emille got curious. "Could you draw in the sand with your horn...?"

Heaven-Leigh smiled brightly at the mare's kind response, and was happy that she was allowed to join her in drawing. She looked down in the sand at the drawing of her mom and dad and tilted her head to view it. She smiled approvingly and said, "I like it!" She wondered why she missed her parents, and hoped it wasn't because something had happened to them, or anything like that. She didn't know if now was the right time to ask, so she kept her mouth shut. She didn't really have time to ask anyway, for the other mare had just complemented her color, and Heaven-Leigh was quite flattered.
"Thank you!" She laughed lightly and then answered her last question. "I guess I could, only if it wasn't curved at the top. Drawing with a stick is easier. You've got a really nice one there..." She admired her stick for a moment and then said, "Oh, it's a spear! Isn't it? Where did you get it??" Spears were kind of dangerous she thought, but then, this girl didn't seem very dangerous. She hesitated for a moment and then added, "Oh yeah! My name is Heaven-Leigh! What's yours?"

Looking wide-eyed at the mare, she thought about the word 'spear'... Emille could swear she heard the word before... Then the light-bulb went off in her head. "Oh yeah! Spear... That's what my dad called it when he gave it to me!"
In a smaller voice, with a tad bit of annoyance, she added, "As well as other people I met..." She sighed.
She gave her new friend an awkward smile. "He told me to protect myself with it, but all I've been doing with it is... Drawing." Emille let out a half-laugh; she didn't really understand why she needed it.... only kept it because it was a precious gift from her father. Not like she wanted to get herself into trouble...
"Emille!" She said with a smile, putting her worries to the back of her mind. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Heaven-Leigh! What brings you here to this... Place?"

Heaven-Leigh giggled at being called 'Ms.' but she didn't object. Her eyes crinkled with the fullness of her smile as she said, "Nice to meet you too, Ms. Emille!" She laughed and then opened her eyes as her smile subsided. "It's good that you've not needed it for anything other than drawing. Drawing is fun!"
She looked around the beach, her expression one of great admiration. "I come to the beach often," she replied. "It's one of my favorite places to be. When it's warm," she added. "What about you, what brings you here? Have you been here before?"

"Beach...?" Emille looked around her and dug her hoof into the wet part of the sand near the incoming waves, making a little hole. As the wave hit the beach, the hole was filled with water. "Is this what it's called?"
She cocked her head as she looked at Heaven-Leigh and gave her a little laugh. "This is my first time being here. I've just been traveling and wandering. My parents let me, so I left, but I've never been to a... beach before until now."
Emille lifted her hoof and saw that the sand stuck to her hoof. "You enjoy being here...? It's so dirty and sticky..."

Heaven-Leigh's eyes widened in pleasant surprise. This was her first time at the beach! How exciting!
"Yeah, at least I think that's what it's called!" She laughed and looked down at her hooves, which were also covered in wet sand. "Yeah, it is but the sand feels so nice and the water is so pretty. I always find a clean stream to wash off in afterward."
Tentatively, she asked, "Why did your parents leave you?"

"The sand feels nice...?" Again, she lifted her hoof and noticed that sand was stuck to the bottom and that some had gotten into the hair at the end. "Could you clean yourself in this big lake, thing...?"
When Emille heard that Heaven-Leigh thought that Emille's parents had abandoned her, she giggled a little bit. "Mama and papa are too nice to abandon people. I think they'd more likely pick others off the streets than actually abandon."
Emille giggled again. "I've been wandering and exploring! That's how my parents met, and I'm excited to meet many others as well."
In a smaller voice, she added to what she thought. "I'd also hope to meet the love of my life, too!" A big smile grew on Emille's face, as well as a gentle red blush on her light brown coat.

Heaven-Leigh giggled; perhaps the sand didn't feel nice to everyone. Maybe she was a bit strange. She wouldn't have it any other way. She looked out into the ocean, assuming that that was what Emille has meant when she said 'big lake thing.'
"Oh no," she answered. "It's way too salty to get clean in there. Besides, you have to be careful in the ocean. If the current is too strong, it could pull you away from the shore and you wont be able to get back. I never go in farther than ankle deep."
Heaven-Leigh was glad to hear that Emille's parents had not abandoned her, and also glad to see that Emille was comfortable talking about the subject. It turned out that Emille was exploring just like her!
"That's me as well!" exclaimed Heaven-Leigh. "I like to explore, and to meet others too!" She giggled and added, "I hadn't really thought of meeting my true love, but that does sound nice." She thought for a moment, also with a wide smile on her face, and then said, "I wonder how hard that is to find."

Emille was confused, the concept of the sea still needing to be absorbed through her mind. She was trying her best to learn it, however. "So the water is bad to drink, right..?"
She walked towards the ocean with the waves crashing against her legs, feeling it push her back a little bit. As the water went back to the vast-ness, she felt the water trying to pull her that time. "The slight pushing and pulling is the 'current' thing, am I right."
A smile came to, glad that her traveling was causing her to learn more and more. Emille looked over at her new friend and her smile grew wider. "I'm so happy to meet someone else that likes to travel!"
Her head went into the clouds as she dreamed about her true love again. "I hope he's handsome," she whispered slightly with a giggle. "Do you have any ideas of how you want your true love to be?" Emille was hoping she wasn't being too direct, but she was definitely curious to what others might want.

Heaven-Leigh moved into the waves with Emille as she observed the push and pull of the ocean.
"I don't think it's bad," she said. "But it definitely wouldn't taste very good! And yep! That's the current! You have to be careful of it in some places more than others..."
Heaven-Leigh smiled with Emille. She was happy to meet someone as well, and was definitely happy that Emille was happy to have met her.
Heaven-Leigh thought about her ideal stallion after Emillie asked her the question. She'd never really thought about it before, and she was quiet for a moment as she thought. "Well, handsome is a good start..." she giggled too. "Maybe he will like to travel too! We could travel together! And...well..." she blushed a bit, "he'll need to be able to help me when I stumble, especially when we travel...I sometimes fall down a lot...I guess I don't have the best balance..." She was a bit embarrassed to say this, but it was a fact that Heaven-Leigh had already come to terms with.
