A Beautiful Sunset
Seasons go by, birds fly from north to south and back, and yet sunsets still remain the
same in all their beauty and color. The same sunsets that bring a smile to every mother and
child, to every lover with intertwined fingers; hand in hand, and to every beautiful flower
among them all. This is a story about a love shared between two people named Christopher
and Anna, short for Annastasia. These two met on one of these beautiful sunny days in the
middle of spring. Every year on their anniversary, Christopher would bring Anna a flower,
but never tell her why. Anna always smiled and said, "I love you.", respecting his wishes
to keep it a secret. A few more years went by before they agreed to share each other's love
in engagement. The marriage was beautiful. Elegant white dress for the bride and a stunning
tuxedo for the groom. They rode in their carriage home as Christopher pulled out another
flower and handed it to Anna. She smiled and asked him, "Will you tell me why you get me
flowers now that we're married?" He said no with a smile in return. She respected his secret and kissed him. Years and years went by. The time came when it was Christopher's time to die. As he lay on his death bed, Anna by his side, he slowly pulled out another flower and hands it to her. She slightly smiles with tears running down her face and asks him why one last time. He finally replies...
"Because Anna, my love, they say that a sunset brings a smile to every mother and child, every lover with intertwined fingers; hand in hand, and every beautiful flower among them all. Anna, I love you. You are my beautiful flower. And if me bringing you a flower makes you smile, then I'm happy to be your sunset."
Anna started crying harder, and as Christopher passed away, she still smiled as she held her flower. She knew that he would always love her. As for her, she would always and forever love her sunset.
