This pickled vegetable...

I used to read allot of manga when I was younger. But recently there doesn't seem to be anything new or interesting being made. Blah. I used to want to be a manga-ka way back when, when I had a puffed up sense of my feeble art skills. I have since discarded that dream.

And I am grown up (physically, that is).

I'm kind of the same way as Renkon. I use to read it a lot when I was younger, but not so much now. Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, and Deathnote were my favorites. Ceres was pretty good too but I only read the first few.

I never wanted to be a manga-ka though. I've never had much artistic ability so I didn't try to fool myself lol.

Everything "new" that they're making is just a rehash of everything that came before it.

If you've read Twilight, you've read Ceres. Or, if you've read anything else by Watase Yu, you've read Ceres.

I only read the first 3 or for 4 because they were ones I had borrowed from a friend, but I really liked the little I read. I always wanted to read more but I didn't have the money to buy them and couldn't find them at my library gonk They were definitely more "girly" than the anime and manga I was normally into.

LOL, really? I didn't think they were anything like Twilight. Then again, it was years ago since I read it so maybe I just don't have a great memory. What makes you say that, out of curiosity?

Bella love Edward because he's hawt. Aya love Toya because he's hawt.
Edward no wanna be with Bella because he's "a monster". Toya no wanna be with Aya because he's obviously not human and has no idea WHAT he is.
Jacob = Yuhi (in every way, exactly)
Edward leaves Bella, Bella becomes suicidal. Toya leave Aya, Aya goes crazy.
Edward/Bella love more important than anything else. Aya/Yoya love more important than anything else.
Teen pregnancy.
Unsatisfying ending.

I don't like the art style that manga is usually presented in, and I find manga rather annoying.

I disagree about what was said about Ceres and Yuu Watase. Her works are drastically different than the other. The only thing common is the highschool girl. Absolute boyfriend is nothing like Fushigi Yugi, and Tanpopp is nothing like Ceres, etc. I think she has a great writing sense and her strength is creating lovable characters.

Here is the standard pattern that all of Watase-sensei's stories follow:
-> Normal high school aged girl with low self esteem meets boy
-> Girl falls in love with boy
-> Boy acts distant and aloof
-> Girl gets depressed
-> Girl does stupid things
-> Boy becomes concerned for girl
-> Boy confesses love for girl
-> Other characters try to keep boy and girl apart
-> Girl gets some self esteem finally
-> Love concurs all.
THE END

Not really. :/ It's that way for Ceres, Fushigi Yugi and maaaaybe Alice 19th, but her other ones are not like that at all. At least, in my opinion. Regardless if her stories are the same thing over again, she still has a great talent at creating lovable characters.
