Gella had found herself, of all the odd places to find oneself, at what had once likely been a dried up lake bed. The odd thing about this place was that the lake bed was no longer dried up, but full of cool, crisp water from a recent heavy rain. Gella supposed that didn't make it a dried up lake bed any longer, really.

She had heard word of there being a small collection of green gemstones found in the bottom of this dried lake bed, and therein was the problem. Gella wasn't absolutely sure how deep the lake was. She also wasn't very fond of water, though she supposed that couldn't be helped.

Finding a safe, secure spot for the pouch she usually carried about her neck, Gella sighed resolutely before gritting her teeth and making her way into the water with a sigh.

Dysi was out wandering, again, as he often was now. His daughters were getting older, his new cubs were born -against his wishes, and now he had to avoid them. They looked so much like him, damn!- so wandering seemed to be the only proper answer to this problem. He liked to wander, and had missed it, but it was such a lonely process.

Scenting the smell of water, Dysi paused, and changed his course, instead heading for the water. He might luck out and stumble on some company, he thought, or at very least, some fish to eat. The leopard was a good fisher, out of desperation to start with but he did like fishing.

Drawing closer to the body of water, he paused, catching sight of something in the water. And it certainly wasn't a fish!

"Hello!" He called out, before he approached the water, hoping not to startle her. Was she fishing?

Gella was a bit too focused on what she was doing, easing further and further into the cool water. It was ..so very unpleasant, this business of getting wet, and Gella would've much rather had Bufo do it, but he was off hunting and so here she was getting WET.

Her ear swiveled as the leopard made his greeting, and without raising her gaze from the water she called back in an absent-minded tone, "Hello." This was far too important for her to be distracted, and luckily enough the water was clear, which made surveying the bottom of the lake bed quite easy to do.

Up to her belly now, Gella continued wading forward slowly.

Dysi paused beside water's edge, tilting his head to the side with a rather bemused expression on his face as he saw the female moving further and further into the water.

"Might I ask what you are doing?
" He asked, unable to hid a bit of amusement from his tone. It was a rather odd sight. She didn't look like she was fishign, so why on earth was she in the water? It wasn't that hot a day that she needed to cool of rapidly and her fur seemed clean enough.

How very, very odd, but it was an interesting change from the normal, so it was not unwelcome. He did hope she wouldn't be offended by his amusement...

It was only after Gella had dunked her head, eyes open, into the clear water that she deemed a response appropriate. With a frustrated roll of her eyes she turned to eye the stranger who seemed to enjoy pestering her while she had SUCH BUSY DUTIES to attend to.

With a shake of her head, Gella replied, "Looking for gems!" Water dripped from the soggy golden fur that now stuck up at odd angles. What on earth did he think she was doing in the water? Having a good time? Gods, no. The only reason she was in this chilly, wet.. water, was to find the green gems she'd heard were located here.

"What are you doing?" She promptly asked, her tone quite serious. Gella wasn't snippy, no, just a very blunt lioness who wasn't very adept in certain social environments.

Dysi was rather startled by her response. Gems? Why was she in a lake then? Surely gems were in rocks or some such things, or perhaps caves, not lakes! How odd. She looked rather crazed for a moment, her fur sticking up in all directions and he was unable to supress an amused look.

At her question, he tilted his head to the side. "Apparently, watching you find gems. Is there anything I might do to assist you?" He asked. It would be rude not to, he mused, settled now by the edge of the lake. He was not phased by getting wet, afterall. He hunted in the water often, to find fish when he was unable to get land-creatures.

She didn't seemed to be enjoying the water too much either, but Dysi wasn't overly sure how much he would be able to help, since he knew nothing of gems. Worth it to ask though, he decided firmly.

Gella huffed a sigh, water spraying from her nose as she peered at the leopard. "You're a dapper dandy, aren't you?" she posed, more to herself than the male. He was a pretty fellow, and she did appreciate his offer to help. Any door opened that would allow Gella to speak at length about the virtues of gemstones made for an instant friendship.

"Are you any good at swimming?" she asked curiously. If he didn't mind getting wet, perhaps she could dry out a bit in the sun while she shouted directives at him. Then again, could she trust him not to overlook the stones she looked for? Hmph.

"Two pairs of eyes would be better than one," Gella concluded. "If you can swim, wade out here and I'll tell you more about what I'm looking for."

Dysi began to nod at her question. "I'm pretty good at swimming," he agreed, and moved towards the water's edge. He was. He usually quite liked water, and he was a confident swimmer. He was often hunting fish in lakes if he could find them, considering normal meat got boring after a while. He entered the water confidently, without hesitating though the water soaked his fur easily. He was shorter than the lioness, so by the time he had reached her side, he was having to tread water to stay afloat.

"What are you looking for?" He asked, curious and with a warm smile on his face. He was determined to be nice to this female, even though she seemed a little...terse. Perhaps she was simply worried that she wouldn't find whatever it was she was looking for? Well, he was more than happy to help.

"Rocks," she groused, peering into the water she was standing in. "Green rocks. Thankfully the lake isn't terribly deep, but it should be a dry lake bed and as you can see, it is not a dry lake bed." She shook her head, water drops flinging from her golden hair fluff.

"I've been feeling around with my toes and when I think I feel something I dive down," she used the term loosely as she really hadn't had to dive down since she was shallow enough that she could just walk along the bottom of the lake, "but I haven't found what I'm looking for yet."

It was so frustrating.

Rocks. She was looking for rocks? Rocks were everywhere though, he thought, but he had never really seen green rocks. "Ah, yes, the rains like to flood the dry beds whenever they feel like it," he murmured conversationally, peering into the water.

"Ahh, well I will see if I can help," he told her brightly, determined to be nice and polite to the female. He would not be able to feel the ground that well, as he was slightly elevated from the ground, but he might be able to see.

He dipped his head below the surface of the water, but the water stung his eyes and the dirt from the bottom of the late - stirred by her walking, perhaps - blocked him from seeing too clearly.

Hmm, that was a little frustrating.
