Nywele hated to leave his banu again, but he had to capture a banu from out of the pride. His trips thus far had failed sometimes he never even ran into females and the others wooing had not worked. Would he have to take a female by force just like any other pad? I hoped not, but he was desperate enough to do it at this point. He started his journey after being properly fed by Amani. It wasn't to hot today so perhaps he could make some good ground before night fall. Nywele choose the form of a mortal for this journey though his mane was just as large and fluffy as always. His birdy companion flew high in the sky above him and would signal if he were to see a female in the distance. Which suddenly he chirped and turned slightly to let Nywele know which way to head. A female this close to the territory? It must be a pride female but it was worth checking out either way.

Asali was perched in a peculiar position, her tail high in the air with her face nearly touching the ground. Her attentions were fixated such on a blue shelled beetle, her emerald eyes nearly crossing each other as she watched its slow progress across the dust. Every so often she would scoot ever so slightly forward, keeping pace with the tiny creature. She wished its beautiful shell, but she did not wish to kill it. After thinking on the problem for a moment, she had decided what was to her a rather rational solution, she would simply follow it until it died on its own. How long could a beetle live? Periodically she blinked, but that and her occasional shifts were the only apparent motion, otherwise she seemed almost a statue, frozen in the pose of a curious cub.

Nywele lifted his head scenting the air he could smell a female that did not belong to the pride. He quickened his pace hoping their were no other pads about. What should he do just take her or try and woo her? He followed his birds turns till he came around a corner there was a quite beautiful female. Though she seemed to be in an interesting position. Nywele walked a bit closer blinking trying to figure out just what she was doing. Quickly he spotted the beetle, he grinned she was following it. Other then how slow it was going he found it interesting. Nywele watched it for a moment himself before remembering why he was there. He shook his head and thought about what he should do. Moving into the beetles path he lowered his head and watched the beetle and the lioness slowly approach him.

Distracted by the sheen of the beetle's shell, Asali did not notice this new obstruction. It wasn't long before she was dangerously close to him and her nose began to twitch with the unfamiliar scent. She should have paused to question it, because within a few moments she collided with him, tumbling forward from her post. A yelp echoed from her throat as she fell, ending up strewn on her back where the beetle had once been. She wondered briefly if it had gotten away or if she had squished it, but her thoughts were quickly interrupted by the question of what exactly she had hit. Shaking her head, she tilted back, spotting Nywele upside down in her vision. She blinked again, that couldn't be right, she would have noticed. Rejecting his presence and deciding she must have hit her head she rolled herself up to a sit. She was facing away from him now, and what remained of the poor beetle was plastered in the fur of her back, still shining.

Nywele laughed as she walked into him. "Are you alright my dear?" He asked his deep voice not one easily ignored. He then spotted the beetle on her back and laughed again. "Dear lioness you've got beetle on your back. Didn't mean for the little thing to get squished I just thought this would be a funny way to say hello...hello by the way." The god said as an after thought perhaps scaring a female and causing her to get beetle juice on her was not the way a lady was won.

"Eh?" Asali attempted to look over her own shoulder, but she could not see the beetle, "Well get it off then!" Her voice had a bit of strain in it, and rightly so, she had been tracking that beetle since sunrise. Realizing this was not a good first impression, she sighed. "It was such a nice thing too. You'll need to help me find another then."

Nywele chuckled a bit then gentle wiped what was left of the beetle off of the young female. "Another beetle?" Nywele asked with a raised brow as he tried to get the beetle of his paw. "My name is Nywele by the way." He said as he awaited what she wanted to help her find.

"Another something," she sighed, realizing suddenly that she was conversing with an apparition. She froze a bit, blinking as she turned to face him, "You're real huh?" He was much larger than her, it was a little intimidating, but his markings and the feather in his hair fascinated her. She stepped forward, lifting her head to sniff at the feather, ignoring the fact that she was getting rather close. "Where did you get that?"

"Oh I can help with that for sure!" Nywele was a bit of a collector himself. "Hmmm..." He touched a paw to himself a few times. "Yep I do think I am indeed real." Nywele liked this game whatever it maybe. He found this lioness more whimsical then most he had much which was fun for him. "Oh my feather?" He lifted a paw to point above where is familiar was flying a circle around the area."Mr. Birdy Bird put it there! He helps me braid my mane." Nywele grinned he loved the way the little birdy always did his hair.

Asali seemed instantly locked on the bird, it was the first she had seen in some time. Fortunately she knew it wasn't one to be caught, and after a moment she came to her senses. "Your mane?" She hadn't noticed before, but the male did seem to have quite the magnificent mane. It in itself might be something to collect a bit of, but she did not think it would go over well. "I am Asali," she told him peacefully, glancing over at the small dirt pile that concealed her things, "Do you wander Nywele? I wander."

Nywele stroked his mane a little as he caught her looking it over. It was something he was very vain about. He followed her eyes over to the pile of dirt but shrugged seeing nothing. "I do not wander I live in a pride." Saying this reminded him of what he was here to do in the first place. Now he was in no mood to try long term wooing. She seemed like a hard lioness to find again, but he was not so ready to jump her and drag her to his den either. "Do you like to wander.I used to and it was ever so lonely and tiring, to hunt alone to live alone...to look for things to collect alone. Does this not bother you?"

Asali thought about this for a few moments, remembering her conversations with the beybanu and the wandering elder lioness. "No," she said flatly, "I don't suppose it does. I find all different sorts of pretty things." It was true, she never stayed in one place for very long, there was always the next new venture spurred on by a bit of mockery or a passing suggestion from one who wished to live vicariously through her. "I suppose I will cross the ocean next," she told him, a defiant tone in her voice, "I hope to find where one told me the gods might come from." It was a misinterpretation of the joke, surely, but she had committed herself to the idea nonetheless, "I'd like to do something such as that."

"I'm afraid that is not where gods come from and unless you are dying and making your last journey you can not go to the home of the gods." Nywele said with quite a matter of fact voice. "Its really not as interesting as mortals seem to think anyways. I find it boring that's why I choose to live with a pride instead of living there." Nywele chattered on not really thinking about the fact that she did not know he was a god due to his current mortal appearance.

"I should like to look anyway, I haven't heard of any who have tried and returned, perhaps it's a wonderful place. Full of beautiful crystals and shells and anything one could want," she mused, not seeming to notice his changed inflection, "And perhaps feathers like yours." Her tone at the last became demanding and her eyes glittered, locked on the trinket again, "You haven't replaced that beetle you know." With a strange grin she looked away, drawing her paw aimlessly across the sand, "I'd like another, I think. I wish it so." There was a pride in her words that one did not commonly find in those who were as small and insignificant as she was, a sort of indignation that told the world, why should I not? Many believed her to be simple minded but she was not, she simply confined herself to those things she believed she needed. She had a lovely collection, she believed, and this male seemed of the same sort in a way she could not quite place. "What will you give me then, oh one who is above wandering?"

"That's because its a fools errand to find it. No mortal would ever come back from there because no mortal could go there in the first place. It's not less your near the goddess of crafting. Plenty of feather's most god's you know have wings ya know...Like me." Nywele blinks and then nods coming up with a plan. He hated to trick anyone, but he needed a banu from outside of the pride."I'm not sure let's walk and see if I can help you find something even better then that beetle." Nywele remarked getting to his paws and heading towards his pride's lands.

Wings? Ansali blinked, peering at the male's back, "I see no wings but those on your bird, I am not blind you know." Her mind drifted however at the mention of finding something for her. A smile crossed her face, but she remembered suddenly her things. He was already moving, and much as she did not want to lose him, she equally did not want to lose her things. "Wait a moment!" she shouted, bounding back to the pile. She dug it up with a sweep of her paw, drawing out only her flithy pink crystal. She caught up with him as quickly as her thin legs would carry her, lodging the thing in the pit of her jaw so she could speak clearly. "I should think mortals can attend the ocean," she argued, "There's a whole group of them I've heard tale of."

Nywele stopped and waited for her happy to see there had been something in that pile of dirt. He found it cute that she collected things and he was sure she would like how he collected things to decorate the den. "Oh yes..." Nywele chuckled before fluttering his wings which brought them out of their invisible form. "Now try looking again." He shook his head annoyed with himself for forgetting what form he was in. "Maybe a tale of it but its hard to believe mortals can not fly and they certainly can not swim forever." Nywele said moving on.

Asali blinked, unsure if what she was seeing was real. She had not truly believed in gods up to this point, and to be standing so near one? Gaped mouthed, she nearly choked on her crystal, beginning to lurch slightly as she refocused her attentions. "Well." Well she wasn't quite sure what to say to that for sure. "Can you fly then? Or swim forever?" She wondered what was so special then, she had not felt any special presence nor overwhelming awe upon first seeing him. After thinking for a moment, she decided on a fair trade, "You could give me one of your feathers then, in exchange for my beetle. Surely it wouldn't hurt to pluck one." Or two, should she even be able to reach them. She was becoming nervous now, what if he were not a good god?

"Yes I can fly, but I've never tried to swim forever, maybe I should sometime." Nywele said with a laugh. He moved forwards some more eager to get into pride lands with this female. "Now now my dear a god feather is worth much more then a beetle I would think. I'm not sure that would be fair on my side." Nywele said with a nod.

"I don't," Asali reasoned, "You can grow them back." She nodded, still padding lightly along beside him. For a moment she seemed to become pensive, and she paused in her steps, looking up at him with glittering green eyes that seemed somehow depthless. "What are you here for?" she asked, a new suspicion in her voice, "Gods don't simply wander the earth for no reason, no one does." She was unsure whether she should be afraid or reverent.

"It might take awhile though I'm really not sure." Nywele wondered if they would grow back but a small one won't effect his flight though.

Nywele raised an eyebrow to her question. "And what makes you the expert on what gods do and don't do? I personally get very bored in the god lands. Gods simply full of themselves, only interested in themselves their family or their domains. Its utterly boring to me." Nywele nodded his head he preferred to be around mortals. Not that he liked drama but it was there in the mortal world. Something to stir life up and keep it interesting.

Asali nodded, as if this were something profoundly understood. She began to wonder where they were headed, feeling a faint sense of recognition in the landmarks they were passing. "But you do not wander," she said softly, as if she had struck upon something essential, "You would find much more interesting things if you wandered. Where are we going?" The last seemed awkwardly tacked on, a sort of vague afterthought that was more wondering than question. "I've come to think I've been here before." But she still couldn't place it.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:02 pm

"No I do not wonder. I have a mortal family. Even two sons and a daughter." Nywele eyed Asali a little bit had she escaped the grasp of his pride before? If so he should be careful about the words he spoke. The more time he spent with her the more he wanted her to be his. She was so interesting to him, her pattern of thought was not easy to follow in the least.

"I won't know if you have or not, but this is near my home. Perhaps we can rest there for awhile, some talk and company in trade for one of my feathers? I would deem this fair." The god gave her a sweet smile.

Her eyes glassed over again and a smile came over her face. She wanted one of those feathers, it seemed a fair trade. "Well alright, but I don't like to stay in one place for too long," she reminded him. He had children? That was certainly unexpected. He didn't seem the type though in thinking on it, she did not know why. The trees they passed were becoming more and more familiar and suddenly she realized why. She had been here before. "Do you know of beybanu Amara?" she asked him cheerfully, proud of herself for remembering the title, "I met her out here I think, she told me the strangest stories."
PostPosted: Tue Aug 17, 2010 10:31 pm

One can get over that with time and attention, the god thought. He was starting to enjoy this way of catching a banu, he felt a twinge of guilt, but he had to keep her. What would he do when she tried to leave? Would she fight him?

"I do she is the beybanu of my friend pad Kwea. She reminds me of my beybanu Amani. She is the sultan's sister." Nywele said puffing up his mane even more. He was very proud of his beybanu. His current banu was still to young to judge though.

"What sort of stories?" Nywele asked as the crossed the border into his pride's lands. Yes she was his for sure he got her this far she was not going to leave him now.

Asali hesitated, hearing the word beybanu and clearly remembering its significance. "You're one of them?" she asked softly, her eyes revealing a sort of betrayal, "Amara said you all take many females, and that I should be careful around here in case..." Her voice dropped off and she seemed to stiffen, "Where did you say you were taking me again?" The muscles in her shoulders twitched, and she rolled the crystal around in her mouth as if trying to find a place where it would not choke her if she ran.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 19, 2010 8:37 pm

Nywele's body tensed a little she clearly was remembering all Amara had said and his eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced only for a moment away from her. He would have to tell Kwea about his beybanu's misdeeds. She should not be warning females away from the pride.

He softened his muscles and smiled at Asali. What should he say? What should he do? He really didn't want to force her but he was determined to keep her. Nywele couldn't lie to her though, that would be something it would take a long time to forgive.

"Yes I am a member of this pride. And Amara is a silly lioness, there is no reason to be careful around the males here. Each take good care of their females as long as they do nothing to upset the balance of things." Nywele stopped he was ready to stop her if she prepared to run even though he rather her just come with him. "I bringing you to meet my beybanu and my children, and my other banu........to my den......and...." Nywele swallowed some air it was hard for him to be demanding about anything. "You will be staying for quite a long while. I've chosen you to be my new banu." Nywele said with a forceful nod. "Now lets keep going. I will still give you a god feather my dear and many other trinkets, I will spoil you, I promise."

Something seemed to flash across her eyes and she began to back away. "I won't trade my freedom for a feather," she told him, her voice full of fear and a strange sort of awe. This was a god after all, what would come of disobeying him? Her movements began to speed and she found herself turning, taking off in the opposite direction. In her haste she dropped her crystal where she had stood, but that seemed farthest from her mind in the moment. Her throat burned as she ran, her size limited her abilities and something within her warned her that it was pointless, she'd drop dead before she'd ever outrun him.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 19, 2010 8:55 pm

Nywele shook his head but what had to be done had to be done. She would learn to love him he was sure of it. He started as though he was running after her, but then vanished in thin air only to reappear a short distance in front of her.

"Its no use running you're coming back with me. It's your choice rather you come on your own paws or not." Nywele growled a little to show he was serious. He was not liking this part of the capture but it was something he was just going to have to get over.

Asali choked on her breath as she skidded to a stop, wheeling on her haunches to try a different direction. Somewhere in her mind she new it was pointless, but the flight response was in full force. How had she been deceived by him? She was stupid, she'd let her things get in the way of her common sense. Her things. Her heart pounded in her chest. She'd lost her things and now she was going to be taken away to serve him. She could hardly think of anything worse. A sound rumbled from her throat but it was lost before it passed her lips, twisted into a sort of demented whine.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 19, 2010 9:10 pm

Nywele ran after her trying to think of a way to do this that won't harm her or scare her more. Everything he thought of was not working for him, he just didn't want to hurt her in any way.

Vanishing again he rear appeared in front of her and stomped a paw in the dirt. As he did the illusion fell across him as being a large male waterbuck. He charge her threatening with his horns low. Hoping to stop the lioness in her tracks if this did not work he would have no choice but to resort to actual physical violence.

Her eyes seemed to roll back in her head as she collapsed into the dust in front of him. For a moment it looked as if she were dead, but slowly her chest began to rise and fall. She had fainted, her mind unable to consolidate his actions. Instead it had simply shut down. Her mind still screamed for her to run but the action was confined to the blackness she had fallen into.
