Why does it matter? Isn't every one entitled to their opinion whether they are for or against it? Do they have to have a specific reason?

*agrees with Root* Personally, I'm for gay marriage, if only because it doesn't hurt anyone else and it's their decision.
Also, the Catholic Church (which I'm most familiar with) doesn't condemn homosexuality because it's "wrong"--the problem is premarital sex. And as there's no way for them to be married in a church under the current system, they're screwed.
Ehehe. lol Lame pun is very lame.
Not to mention all the revenue from state marriages we could get. Wouldn't that help the U.S. economy?

Sashaajnin Can someone who is against gay marriage please explain to me why you are against it? If your using something as a reference, could you please give me your reference. Thank you. I am not against, i am for, but i know the main reasons for why some are against ..... unless i'm mis-informed. sweatdrop It is a referrence to the Old Testament, The Exodus from Egypt. To be certain that the decendants of Abraham would manage the walk back to their "homeland"/promised land, God would bless them with children, if they were to join, wed, as man and woman. It had nothing to do with emotional love and caring between the man and woman, it was only a blessing to get (more) children. And this is why i am for gay marriage. Since then, marriage has been used for several other reasons, including Love, and for manipulating buisness. The acclaimed "original reason" is long lost, and it is instead believed that You marry for love. So, if people want to marry because they love and care for each other, i don't mind, no matter what gender there are on the couple.

I think people can have their own opinions without justification, but these opinions SHOULD NOT influence law. Gosh America needs an over haul when it comes to equality... Also, Its not just Biblical reasons for being against gay marriage. I know Atheists who dont like it.

Renkon Root Eccentric Detective Wouldn't that help the U.S. economy? This pickled vegetable...Someone's seen Prop 8: The Musical. ... could kick your a** !! xd Yes, yes I have. It is a valid point... though I don't suppose it'll convince anyone for one side or another, it's just icing on the cake. Kind of like all the taxes we could get from selling marijuana. I know where you're coming from. Law should come from the greatest good for all and not depend on what the majority thinks is evil. We're not forcing gay marriage opposers into these marriages. Why does it concern them so much?

As for Atheists that is against it, they are probably traditionalists (in that area), or has been so affected by the homophobia, that they just dislike the idea on a principality, or they have even adopted the alleged "Abramic view" on homosexuality without knowing where it comes from. ......... I put "Abramic view" inside quotation, because, according to the Gnostic around here (i'm bad with names), the original texts may actually not have been as much against homosexuality as they are interpreted as ........

Tiina Brown ......... "Multiply" do not include an automatic "do not have infertile copulation" ...... The Anti-Gay cannot have "go F*ck each other", because that do not include procreation at all ..... "Live long and Prosper": Spock (a Vulcan saying) .... Sorry if i get irritating ..... sweatdrop

So, if people want to marry because they love and care for each other, i don't mind, no matter what gender there are on the couple. Of course by that logic, any married couple that can't conceive is an abomination to marriage. My problem with people using Bible verses to justify keeping same-sex marriage banned is this: Let's ignore the fact that people have to twist Bible verses pretty far before they even resemble their point. Never mind that the Bible has been translated so many times that it's naive to believe that it's even close to the original words. My problem is that even if the entire contents of the Bible were the words "HOMOSEXUALITY IS WRONG" in plain English, it shouldn't matter. What happened to freedom of religion? When did it become okay to force religious morals on people, regardless of their beliefs? What is the difference between telling people what is and isn't immoral based only on what the Bible allegedly says and forcing people to go to church every Sunday?

That's the spirit of the Law (I capitalize it here because I'm referring to the Biblical laws). You should want to obey God's will, or you're missing part of your Christianity: devotion.
