Ok, unless you've been living under a rock, music videos help give vision to a song. Or the song gives inspiration to the music video, or something like that. In any case, some videos have deeper meanings, while others are just plain...crap.

So here's what this is all about: give an analysis of your favorite (or not-so-favorite) music video. The outline provided below can be used to help you along the way. Now, be tasteful yet amusing (if you can) about the video so that we have a good idea of what it may be about.

Warning. Slight nude Katy Perry scenes. Chang knows.
Song: California Gurls
Artist: Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg
What was interesting about the song?: ...I could connect to the lyrics since I'm a Cali girl myself.
Why did you choose this music video?: Various bashing reasons.
How do you feel about the entire thing?: Diabetic, confused, and hungry.
Your favorite part? Why?: The gummi bear flicking Katy off.
What did you dislike about the music video?: The entire video! What does it have to do anything with California?!
Extended Summary and Opinions:
Alright, basically the video is set in a Candyland board game with Snoop Dogg as the main "playa" (ha ha, get it? ...yeah, just hit me). Katy is a game piece who finds the Candy world...disturbing, but she makes her way saving other (tacky)pieces along the way. ...and in the end, Katy and her crew go up against Snoop Dogg's gummi bear army and destroys them in the most awkward/erotic way they can. The end.

My opinion of all this: What the h*** were they smoking when they thought of this video?!

I mean, they're Getting Crap Past The Radar pretty close to the wire and yet...I dunno if guys feel gay or excited about it. Because they're balancing on a thin wire with this thing with the pink and the eroticness.

And the end scene with the whip cream? Creepy and...not possible? What is keeping those cans going, I don't know.

In my defense of the above, she kept showing it to me, and I couldn't get past the first ten seconds because one, the sound was kinda murder for my ears, and two, it was way too... colorful.

Song: American Ride
Artist: Toby Keith
What was interesting about the song?: It's a pretty interesting yet accurate commentary on American culture and where it's heading towards now.
Why did you choose this music video?: It was under that recommended thing at YouTube so I shrugged and said why the Hell not?
How do you feel about the entire thing?: Damn catchy, and like I said, it is a pretty accurate commentary on current American cultural trends
Your favorite part? Why?: At about 1:44. For God's sake, really?! An F-250 with gold, 35 inch wheels, a gold grill, and a plasma screen on the dashboard?! Where can I get one?!
What did you dislike about the music video?: That in the beginning, they had to put the poor, sun-burnt b*****d in a speedo.
Extended Summary and Opinions: All in all, it's a very satirical take on how things in our (American) world looks right now. It starts off in real-life before delving into early South Park-looking animation. It has many accurate depiction, including a farmer and his wife losing their farm to foreclosure, being flicked off screen, and having their former property turned into an expansive shopping district; "kids on the YouTube learning how to be cool" which ends with a shot of one kid hammering a nail through another kid's tongue; Wall Street investors parading Obama around as money rains from the sky; and of course, "plasma [screen TVs] getting bigger," and "Jesus getting smaller."

Song: Kings And Queens
Artist: 30 Seconds To Mars
What was interesting about the song?: The music itself is epic sounding.
Why did you choose this music video?: Epic Music + Bicycles = Too Awesome For Words
How do you feel about the entire thing?: Like inventing an airship and riding off into the clouds.
Your favorite part? Why?: Basically the people who rode the bikes. They were a diverse sort of people...I like that.
What did you dislike about the music video?: The part when that guy got hit. I'm glad he got up, but...hitting people with cars is a bad in my book.
Extended Summary and Opinions: Now, the entire video's theme has to do with people on bicycles riding around the city. A closer analysis can lead one to believe that these people always move forward wherever they go. The different styles and tastes of each individual shows that success is blind to mere racism and traditional values, meaning as long as these individuals keep moving towards their goals, they can achieve anything.

Song: Shut Me Up
Artist: Mindless Self Indulgence
What was interesting about the song?: I find it damn catchy, it has a bad-a** sound to it and it pumps me up.
Why did you choose this music video?: I think it's funny, odd and because it's part of a small group of music videos that I like.
How do you feel about the entire thing?: I could go on how this is an interpretation of how the current job market and economy is devoiding us of personality and our modern culture doing more so, but I just think it's amusing.
Your favorite part? Why?: Probably the first minute or so of the video when the guy first snaps and goes mad (doesn't hurt that the chorus is utterly awesome).
What did you dislike about the music video?: The only thing I dislike is how the song itself sounds a little off.
Extended Summary and Opinions: If I was ever to be in a fight scene, I'd want this to be playing. Also, it reminds me of a guy I had a bit of a crush on in high school since he was the one who introduced me to this song.
