Lions are the largest species in the shop, and the second largest big cat in the world. Male lions stand at about 123 cm (4 ft) at the shoulder and weigh between 150 and 250 kg (330 and 550 lb). Females are approximately 107 cm (3 ft 6 in) at the shoulder and weigh between 120 and 182 kg (264 and 400 lb). Lions live up to about fifteen years of age. They usually hunt in groups but may very often steal the kills of other predators, such as cheetahs, hyenas, leopards and wild dogs. The male lion's mane is used to protect its neck during fights, making penetration in that area nearly impossible, and because of their adaptions to fighting, male lions are among the most fearsome and deadly warriors of the animal kingdom.

All lions in the shop, no matter what lines they are on, have four stages (if they are a growing SoA) and can have up to six cubs. For specific information regarding minimum litter sizes and other things that influence litter sizes, please see the breeding information thread in the breeding subforum.

There are currently ten different lineart sets available for lions, including two sets for rogues, seven for prides, and one for gods. This does not include all the revamped lines (which are available for use) and retired lines (which are not available for use).

Below are all the linearts available to the lion species. Each post contains a little information about that lineart and, if it is a pride-only lineart, about the lineart as it relates to the pride.

(Please note that any lineart sets that are not complete may have pieces of other sets substituted into them or, for new sets, simply a question mark until the lines are released. This guide will not list any edited or uniquely linearted SoA, as those belong solely to those individuals.)

Rogues come in all different shapes and sizes, though they are generally smaller than the Motoujamii, Myrsky'syntynt, Pridelanders, and Kizingo'zaa and bigger than the Ela'wadiy. They are the most common lion lineart in the shop and the only lineart that can be customed onto via regular customs.

There are three different sets of rogue linearts available. Customs and breedings may be done on any set, though all cubs in a breeding must be done on the same set while they grow. SoA in breedings may, however, be switched to a different set for their adult stage.

The Pridelands are an old pride, one of the original core prides of the shop. They have a typical lions build, but tend to run large, though not as large as the Motoujamii. The pride itself worships no god in particular, but holds a belief in what they call the Circle of Life, the process by which a creature lives, dies, and becomes a part of the land, thus nourishing the prey their kind eats. They also believe that their past kings become stars when they die and watch over their descendents from the sky.

Both line sets are available, but check with your chosen colorist.

The Bahari'mtoto live close to the ocean and have a deep, spiritual connection to it. Due to their heritage and the many years they have spent near the shore, their coats have become curly and coarse. In the past their coats were more commonly beach colors like blues, greens and sandy browns, but since the pride has seen a recent growth in rogue joining, they have many other colors among their ranks.

The Ela'wadiyi are a nomadic pride that live in a hilly/mountainous region of Africa. The original members were mostly natural colors, though rogue blood has brought many new colors into the pride. They may appear strange to other species in the shop, as they are covered from head-to-toe in tattoos, and are usually much smaller than rogues, being the smallest lions in the shop. However, some rogue-based bloodlines may be larger.

The Jini-msemi live in the heart of a swamp, secluded from the rest of Africa. Old blood lines are mostly natural swampy colors (browns, greens, etc) but the rise of rogue blood in most lines has altered both the colors and sizes of the pride in general so they aren't much different than rogues themselves.

Kizingo'zaa is a pride located next to the sea and bordered by a jungle. They have an insanity curse on the entire pride, making them quite 'unique'. They come in a variety of colors but old lines are generally larger than rogues due to their ancestry. Their size may vary depending on the percentage of rogue blood in their lineage.

The Motoujamii are a fierce, desert-dwelling pride known for their strict morals and traditions. They only accept red, orange, black and white pelts in the pride - all others are rejected. They are the largest lions in the shop apart from gods, though some lines may be a bit smaller depending on the amount of rogue ancestry they have.

The gods of SoA come in all shapes, colors and sizes and usually have no affiliation to any certain pride. They can appear to be any size or species they wish to be through illusions (including unnaturally small like cubs) though they are usually larger than any mortal in their true forms and can only be officially done as gods on the lion lineart shown below.

Please note that while the basic body anatomy (head, torso, and limbs) of gods are normally always the same, gods are heavily edited and anything else about them can be changed. This includes, but is not limited to: hair, wings, fur, tails, optional horns/spikes, and items. Although this lineart is officially considered a lion type, you may customize traits of other species onto them.

The gods below are only to be used as examples of the basic body structure, their edits are unique to them and may not be copied.

All the lines in this post were available at one point during the shop's history but for whatever reason are no longer in use. Some of the lines have been revamped and recycled for use in other prides but the original is no longer being used for new SoA.
