Farmlands
A city the size of Baarikmet must get its food from somewhere! In some ways, being sealed below ground has been safer than living above - down underground are many springs and streams, especially in the natural caverns the early Dumyrciedel used as a base for their settlement.
To the south of the main city cavern is another large cavern and a few smaller ones that hold fertile soil over the stone. This soil is carefully tended so as to preserve its growing capabilities for years to come. It's not easy - the farmers have to work hard.
The plants that grow down here have, over the centuries, adapted to the little light provided for them. They're hearty and filling, but don't taste all that good.
In two of the smaller caverns, Dumyr raise livestock. These livestock are smallish, but meat is a necessary part of the Dumyr diet over time, so as many as possible are raised. This puts strain on the land, though, so the livestock are rotated through the smaller caverns over time.
