Chapter One
Kids

"Remember, make sure he doesn't eat unless it's time to eat, araso?" Umma said, as she pulled the Pocky away from Changmin. His eyes widened.

"Umma!" He cried.

"No." She said sternly.

"Neh, araso umma." Sung Neul said as she picked up the upset five year old. Changmin pouted and hugged his noona.

"Hon, they're gonna be okay. Sung Neul is responsible enough to handle everything while we're gone." Appa said. He was busy putting the luggage in the taxi cab. Umma sighed and kissed both her kids on the cheek.

"But for more than a year? I dunno." She said back."Be good while umma's gone, neh?" She added. Sung Neul rolled her eyes.

"Umma, we'll be fine. Just go have fun around the world, kay?" She said. Umma laughed.

"Yah, I'm the umma." She said. Then she turned to Changmin.

"No more outrageous snacking, araso?" She said. Changmin shook his head in protest.

"Hm, why'd I even ask?" She said as she pinched his cheeks.

"Honey! We're gonna be late!" Appa called out.

"Gotta go. Anyong! Love you!" She said as she ran to the taxi.

"Anyong Umma! Anyong Appa!" The other two shouted as they waved. They both watched the taxi drive off into the distance. After a few moments, Changmin got hungry.

"UMMA TOOK MY POCKY!" Changmin shouted.

***

"Sungmin oppa!" Kouchi shouted.

"Kouchi ah!" Sungmin shouted. He lifted his niece into the air and set her back down. Kouchi smiled up at her uncle and ran to the fish tank in the back of the living room. Sungrin, Kouchi's dad, set her luggage next to the couch.

"I really owe you for doing this for me Sungmin ah." Sungrin said. Sungmin waved his hand.

"Nah, it's alright. Better here than at umma and appa's, neh?" He said. Sungrin rolled his eyes. Sungmin looked behind his older brother.

"Where's noona?" He asked. By 'noona' he was referring to his older sister-in-law. Sungrin sighed.

"She stayed at Busan. Didn't think that she could handle it." He explained.

"Tell her not to worry. Kouchi's in safe hands." Sungmin said grinning.

"Appa! The fish is swimming in his own pee!" Kouchi shouted.

"Kouchi ah, use your inside voice." He said.

I don't think she has one. Sungmin thought. Sungrin walked over to his daughter, picked her up and looked her square in the eye.

"You better behave yourself, araso? Whatever your uncle says, you do it, okay?" He said. Kouchi thought about it for a moment.

"Kouchi." Sungrin said sternly.

"Neh, araso." She said nodding vigorously.

After they exchanged goodbyes, Sungrin left for the airport. Then, Kouchi turned and looked up at Sungmin.

"Sungmin oppa,"

"Neh?"

"You have lots and lots of hair up your nose."

***

"Yah! Save some for noona!" Sung Neul said. Before she could even put the rest of the food on the table, Changmin took three servings of kimchi fried rice.

"But Changmin's hungry!" He said with his mouth full of food. Sung Neul tsked.

"You better not act like this in kindergarten." She said wiping his mouth.

"Is there nappy time in kindergarten?" Changmin asked. His noona was poured water in two glasses before answering.

"Aniyo." She said flatly as she got what was left of the fried rice. His jaw dropped to the floor.

"NO NAPPY TIME?!"

***

"Kouchi ah, your appa said that you're going to kindergarten this year, neh?" Sungmin asked.

"Neh!" Kouchi shouted through the halls. She was running back and forth with a long blanket trailing behind her.

"It says on this note that we need to buy you a uniform." He said. Kouchi skidded to a halt.

"A uni-what? Is it like a unicorn?" She asked as she skipped next to her uncle.

"Aniyo, it's an outfit you have to wear to school." He explained.

"Is it pink?"

"Sadly, no."

"POOPY!"

***

It was thirty minutes after bedtime and Changmin was hungry. He tiptoed down the stairs and into the kitchen. He reached the pantry door knob with ease and opened the door. He found his secret stash of Chocopies until-

"Changmin!"

"The devil made me do it!" He shouted in defense. Sung Neul picked up the toddler and took him upstairs. Then she put him in bed and pulled the covers over his body up to his shoulders.

"But noona! I'm hungry!" He said. Sung Neul thought for a moment.

"Fine, if you eat now, you don't get breakfast tomorrow morning." She said solemnly. His eyes widened.

"No eggs?" He asked. His noona shook her head.

"Aniyo."

"Not even rice?"

"Nope."

"I'm not hungry anymore." He said closing his eyes. Sung Neul chuckld and turned of the lights.

"Good boy."

***

It was over an hour past bedtime and Kouchi was jumping up and down the couch. Somehow, she found her way into Sungmin's CDs and was listening to BoA's 'Eat You Up'.

"I'll eat you up!" She shouted. Then Sungmin ran down the stairs and found piles of CDs everywhere.

"Kouchi!" He shouted. Kouchi stopped jumping and hid behind the couch.

"I saw that." He said as he turned of the stereo.

"Aw poopy." She said as he hoisted her over his shoulders and brought her upstairs.

"Go to sleep." Sungmin said.

"But I'm not sleepy." Kouchi whined. They stared at each other for a moment.

"So you like BoA?" He asked. Kouchi scrunched her face up in a pout.

"BoA unnie is gonna eat you up for putting me in bed!" She said. Sungmin laughed.

"I did it for love, Kouchi ah." He said. She frowned, not getting the pun. Sungmin got up and turned off the lights.

This stinks. Like poop. Kouchi thought.

***

Sung Neul and Sungmin lied in their beds after a long day.

Kids They both thought. Then they fell asleep, not expecting what would happen in the future.

Chapter Two
Close Encounters

"Eotteohkae?!" Sung Neul said in exasperation. Changmin was sitting on the floor playing with his socks. Today they were going to shop for their school supplies, but there was one setback. Changmin outgrew his shoes within two weeks of not wearing them, and he simply refused to wear any other pair. Sung Neul on the other hand, just wanted to get out the door.

"Please Changmin ah?" She pleaded.

"Andwaeyo." He said flatly. His noona pouted. Those shoes were his favorite, they had ruby red laces on it.

The only way to a boy's heart is through his stomach. She thought. Then she smiled to herself.

"Changmin ah, I'll buy you banana milk if you put a different pair of shoes on." She said slyly. Changmin's eyes lit up and he grabbed a random pair of shoes.

"Noona! Help me!" He said enthusiastically. Sung Neul laughed.

"Yeah sure." She said sitting next to him.

"Noona,"

"Neh?"

"Don't forget the straw." Changmin added as he stood up. Sung Neul stood up with him.

"I have a feeling you're going to remind me even if I don't." She said opening the door.

***

"Oppa!" Kouchi shouted. It was 9 in the morning and Sungmin was planning to sleep in. But apparently, his niece thought otherwise.

"What?" He shouted back, keeping his eyes closed.

"The sun's out." She said cutely. Sungmin opened his eyes.

"Chinja?" He asked. Kouchi nodded vigorously.

"And?"

"I dunno, just thought you should know." She said with big eyes. Sungmin laughed and sat up.

"Well thank you." He said. Kouchi looked up at him expectantly.

"Mwo?" He said looking down at her.

"I want Pepporo." She said.

"Pepporo? But we don't have any."

"I know. Let's go and get some."

"Eh?"

"Now."

"Wae?"

"Because I want my Pepporo." Kouchi said exasperated, as if he was the absurd one. Sungmin sighed.

She's pretty high maintenance. He thought.

"Fine, just let me get ready." He said standing up.

"Yay! I call shotgun!" She shouted.

"Kouchi ah, you're too little to ride shotgun."

"Aw poopy."

***

"Noona, are you done yet?" Changmin asked. He was sitting in the cart waiting for Sung Neul's decision.

"It's not something you just pick on a whim Changmin ah. You really have to think about it." She said. Changmin rolled his eyes.

"They're just notebooks!" He shouted.

"Pfft, no! Not just notebooks! I have to decide whether to get college ruled, or wide ruled." She said defensively. Changmin pouted. He just wanted his banana milk.

"Get that one." He said, pointing at the wide ruled composition book.

"But it has less space and it doesn't have a spiral for easy access." Sung Neul said.

"Then get the other one!" He whined impatiently.

"Okay." Sung Neul said putting it in the cart.

"Finally! Can we get my banana milk?" Changmin said.

"Not yet, we need to decide if we're getting mechanical pencils or just ordinary pencils." She said pushing the cart.

"Andwaeyo!" He moaned.

***

"You hear that?" Sungmin asked.

"Hear what?" Kouchi said as she dragged him to the Pepporo.

"Nevermind, I thought I-"

"Hwa!" She said interrupting him. She stared at the whole shelf of Pepporo. Chocolate, dark chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, the flavors were endless.

"Okay, now get one." Sungmin said yawning. Kouchi just stood there.

"Can I get all of them?"

"Aniyo."

"Poopy. I'll get the pink one." She said finally. Sungmin reached for the strawberry.

"Andwaeyo! I change my mind. I want the red one." Kouchi said. Then he reached for the chocolate and put it in the basket.

"Aniyo, I want vanilla." She said. Sungmin sighed. They've already spent enough time here and he needed to do other things back at home.

"Maybe we should just get all of them." He said putting one of each flavor in the basket.

"Thank you Sungmin oppa!" Kouchi said happily.

"No, thank you."

Afterwards, they fell in line at cashier number three. In cashier number four, was Changmin happily playing with his banana milk and Sung Neul reading an entertainment magazine. Kouchi rocked back and forth on her heels and looked around. Then her eyes fell on Changmin, brown hair and all.

"Hwa." She breathed out as Changmin wiped his nose. Sung Neul was busy paying and afterwards, they left. Sungmin was still paying for the Pepporo as Kouchi's jaws dropped.

"POOPY!" She shouted. The clerk stared at her.

"Does she need to use the bathroom?" The clerk asked. Sungmin looked over his shoulder.

"Aniyo, she always says that." He said flatly. The clerk nodded as if she understood.

***

"Noona, I think that girl was staring at me funny." Changmin said as he drank his banana milk. Sung Neul was busy putting bags in the trunk.

"Changmin ah, any girl would look at a boy funny if they saw a him kissing his banana milk." She said.

Chapter 3
Bedtime Blues

It was the day before he had to go to school, but Changmin was too excited to sleep. Sure there was no nappy time, but that made him even more curious about what they did instead of sleeping. And he couldn't wait to eat what his noona prepared for his lunch. Cold noodles, two chocopies and strawberry milk. Then he heard his stomach rumble. He got hungry.

I can't eat anything now, or else I won't get breakfast. He though sadly. Then he heard footsteps outside and covered himself with his blanket.

Sung Neul opened the door to check if he was asleep.

Who sleeps like that? She thought to herself. Changmin was on his stomach with his bum sticking out in the air, tightly wrapped in blanket with printed angels. She walked over to his bed to place him in a more comfortable position. As she was doing so, she accidentally touched Changmin's ticklish spot.

"Noona!" He screamed out, blowing his cover. Sung Neul frowned.

"Yah, you're supposed to be sleeping. You're going to start kindergarten tomorrow." She scolded.

"But I can't sleep." He whined.

"Why?"

"Because, because,"

"Because what?"

"Because my eyes are open." He said blinking. His noona lowered her head in exasperation.

"Then close them." She said.

"But I can't."

"Why?"

"Because I don't want to."

"Agh!"

***

"Kouchi ah, where are you? It's time for you to go to sleep." Sungmin asked. It's been an hour since they started playing hide and seek, and Kouchi was winning. Since she was so small, she could've hidden anywhere.

"Kouchi!" He shouted. Meanwhile, Kouchi was switching hiding places. This was her secret strategy for winning every game. She would change hiding places whenever Sungmin got too close. This time, she was leaving the inside of the dryer machine and into the kitchen cabinet. But as she closed the cabinet door, she slammed it by accident. Sungmin's ears perked up and he peeked into the kitchen. He saw a segment of Kouchi's sock sticking out of the bottom of the cabinet. He tiptoed over and opened the cabinet.

"Poopy!" She shouted as he hoisted her over his shoulder. She cheekily lifted his shirt so she could slap him bust gasped.

"Oppa! You have a cool birthmark!" She shouted. He shook his head laughing as they went up the stairs.

"That's a tattoo." He said putting her in bed. Kouchi's mouth dropped in a small O.

"WHAT? Umma says that tattoos are BAD!" She said.

"Oh yeah? Well then why do you supposed she married your appa?" He said.

"Um, because he can make farty noises on my stomach?" She asked.

"Go to sleep. You're going to school tomorrow." He said turning off the lights and leaving the night light on.

"Good night oppa. Good night oppa's tattoo." She said yawning. Sungmin frowned and shut the door.

Who says good night to a tattoo? He thought.

Chapter 4
The First Day of School

"Changmin ah, hurry up. You're gonna be late for school!" Sung Neul shouted. She was in the living room stuffing pencils and a binder in her already full school bag. It was her first day of college and she didn't want to be late.

"Noona! Where's my left shoe?" Changmin said as she hopped down the halls wearing only one shoe, which happened to be on the wrong foot. Sung Neul sighed and found the other shoe behind an armchair. She fixed the younger boy's shoes, then she took one good look at his face.

"Mwo, are you saving that for later?" Sung Neul said as she spotted a piece of egg white on his chin. She wiped it off and ran her fingers through his hair a few times.

"Noona." Changmin moaned. She just tsked and hurried him to the car. She started the car and they were almost out of the driveway until-

"Noona! You forgot my packpack!" He shouted from his booster seat. Sung Neul banged her head on the wheel and beeped the horn as she swore.

Noona has a dirty mouth. He thought as he watched her storm into the house and come back with a Batman backpack and lunch box.

"Okay." Sung Neul said as she put the stuff in the passenger's seat next to her."So do we have everything?"

"Mm," Changmin said as he thought for a moment."Yup!"

"Huh, finally." She said as she drove ahead.

"Except you left the door open." He added.

"Crap!"

***

"Sungmin oppa!" Kouchi shouted. She stared at the mess she made in the kitchen. She doesn't even know how it happened, she just reached for an apple then a bug flew past her, making her arm jerk against the cereal bowl, thus making it fall on a spoon, which flipped in the air hitting a glass of grape juice which spilled all over the floor and Sungmin's school bag.

"What?" Sungmin shouted as he ran in the kitchen.

"Don't! Come in..." Kouchi said in defeat. Sungmin's jaw dropped at the mess. His eyes followed the trail and ended at his school bag.

"Aigoo." They both said in unison.

Class #1

"Now you behave now, alright Heechul ah?" Siwon said. Heechul rolled his eyes.

"Neh, I will." He mumbled.

"And take care of your dongsaeng, okay?"

"Do I have to?"

"Yah! Oppa, you meany." Sulli said. She pouted her pink lips and folded her arms.

"Fine, fine, I will." Heechul said reluctantly.

"Yah! Heechul hyung!" Yesung shouted as he ran in his direction.

"Yesungie!" Heechul shouted, turning away from his father. Sulli ran off to a corner to play with a girl named Luna, leaving Siwon by himself.

Aigoo, you raise them only to get crushed. He thought. Heechul ran toward Yesung, then tripped over his untied shoe lace. Siwon sighed.

That's my son. He thought. Meanwhile, Sulli was watching Luna draw on the table.

"Who are you?" Luna asked Sulli.

"I'm Sulli, who are you?" Sulli said.

"I'm Luna."

"Hi Luna."

"Hi Sulli. Did you know that you're tall?" Luna said.

"I get it from my daddy." She said proudly. At the other side of the class room, Yoona was putting her things in a cubby. Then she turned around and to her surprise, a girl was standing right in front of her. Yoona got startled and made a flatflish face. Yuri laughed aloud.

"I'm Yuri." She said as she stopped laughing. Yoona frowned, slightly mad at her for laughing, then she smoothed her forehead.

"I'm Yoona." She said, sporting her best smile. Yuri smiled back and thought of something.

"Wanna be friends?" She said eagerly. Yoona puckered her lower lip and thought for a second.

"Okay." She said. Yuri squealed happily, took Yoona's hand, dragged her to the bookshelf and showed her how to dishelve things.

"Onew hyung, have you seen the teacher?" Jonghyun said smugly. BoA sneezed while she walked out of the supply closet.

Huh, it's dusty in there. She thought as she rubbed her nose. Onew shook his head.

"Waeyo?"

"She's pretty." Jonghyun said.

"Pretty? Noona neomu yeppeo." Onew sang absentmindedly.

Class #2

"I'm Donghae, I'm prince of the sea!" Donghae said.

"I'm Hyukjae, but call me Eunhyuk." Eunhyuk said.

"Can I call you Hyukie?" The other boy asked.

"Okay." He said happily. Then they both ran off to the building blocks. At the entrance of the class room, two girls were escorted in by an oddly cute mother.

"Umma, I'm scared." Tiffany said looking up to her mother.

"Crybaby." Jessica said.

"Yah, be nice Sica." Sunny said."It's alright to be scared Fany ah, you just need to be brave okay?"

Then one of the assistants walked up to them to try and ease the toddler's mind.

"Don't worry, I'll be here to take care of you." Sooyoung said looking down at Tiffany.

"Umma! That lady's a giant! She's gonna eat me and my mushroomy goodness!" Tiffany cried as she clung to Sunny's leg. Sunny looked up and let a small gasp.

She is a giant, she's taller than me. She thought to herself. Sooyoung just smiled and looked towards Jessica.

"What? You think being tall is everything?" Jessica said coldly. Sooyoung's face palmed. Then Jessica walked to the center of the room where a circular rug was , lied down, and fell asleep.

"She likes to sleep." Sunny said apologetically.

"Whatcha doin'?" Kibum asked. Kyuhyun was mostly paying attention to his DSi, but paused and turned toward the other boy.

"Playing a video game." He said.

"Can I play?" Kibum said.

"Sure." Kyuhyun said as he continued playing his game. Kibum frowned.

"I thought I was gonna play?"

"Yeah, in a million years." Kyuhyun said evilly. Kibum growled and walked to the other side of the room, but tripped over a lump in the middle of the rug.

"Yah! I'm sleeping!" Jessica shouted angrily. Kibum felt a cold wind and backed away slowly letting the Ice Princess return to her mid morning nap.

Class #3

"Is this class two?" Hero asked. Both of her sons, Yunho and Junsu, were seeing who could rap the fastest.

"No ma'm, this is class three." Micky said. Hero raised her eyebrows and nodded.

"Okay, thanks anyway." She said walking away.

Hm, those kids are good rappers. Micky thought. But not as good as me.

Key walked in with three of his younger siblings: Minho, Amber, and Taemin. Krystal was at the entrance to greet them.

"Hi, I'm Krystal." She said smiling.

"Hi, I'm Key, these are my three dongsaengs Minho, Amber, and Taemin." He said. Krystal raised her eyebrows.

What an odd bunch. She thought to herself. Minho towered over the others, Amber looked a like a boy, and Taemin had extremely long hair.

"Um, okay. All you need to do is check them in for me, if that's alright." She said handing Key a clip board.

"Sure." He said. The three kids walked ahead and went their separate ways. Meanwhile, Ryeowook was playing house with Shindong.

"Umma, I'm hungry." Shindong said. He's still wasn't very happy that the play food was plastic, but played along anyway.

"Okay." Ryeowook said happily. Leeteuk and Kangin were hiding behind the play kitchen set and snuck behind Ryeowook. Kangin 'tripped' on 'accident' and pulled on Ryeowook's pants, thus letting the world see his underwear. Leeteuk and Kangin laughed as they watched Ryeowook running/tripping to Micky. At the other side of the room, two girls, Seohyun and Taeyeon, were in deep discussion about nursery songs.

"Do you know Three Bears?" Seohyun asked. Taeyeon nodded her head vigorously.

"Gom se mari ga, han chibe isseo." She sang.

"Appa gom, umma gom, aegi gom." They started to sing in unison.

***

"Okay Changmin, here's your class." Sung Neul said. Changmin looked around and almost started to cry.

"Noona, there's, there's,"

"There's what?"

"Girls." He said in fear.

"Don't worry Changmin ah, at this age, girls don't like boys either." She said reassuringly.

"Huh, okay."

"Now go put your stuff away in a cubby while I check you in." She said.

"Alright." Changmin said as he skipped to the cubbies.

"Excuse me, where is the check off sheet?" Sung Neul asked. Hyoyeon looked up from the table.

"Right here. Just check the child's name and sign right there." She said giving her a clip board.

"Okay, thank you." She said as she moved to the side. At the other entrance of the classroom, Sungmin walked in holding Kouchi's hand.

"Excuse me miss, where's do I check her off?" Sungmin asked.

"Right over there." Sooyoung said pointing towards Hyoyeon's direction.

"Thank you. Kouchi, go put your stuff away while I check you off, neh?"

"Neh!" Kouchi said as she ran to the cubbies. Sungmin walked over to where Sooyoung pointed earlier and asked where the check board is.

"That young girl has it right there." Hyoyeon said pointing at Sung Neul. Sung Neul finished writing her signature and looked up to see Sungmin waiting expectantly.

"May I help you?" She said staring at him

"Ah, I need that." He said pointing at the clip board. Sung Neul continued to stare then shook her head.

"Oh, um, okay, sure. Here." She said handing it to him awkwardly.

"Thanks." He said walking to Hyoyeon's desk. Kouchi was putting her stuff away, then she saw Changmin putting his stuff away right next to her. She smiled and tapped his arm. Changmin flinched and looked at her.

"Neh?" He said afraid.

"You look cute." She said openly. Changmin's eyes widened.

"Eh?"

"I like you."

"NOONA!" Changmin screamed."I wanna go home!"

Chapter 5
The First Day of School: Part 2

"Kouchi," Sungmin sighed. Kouchi folded her arms, clearly upset. She was in trouble, of course, but she didn't know why. For some apparent reason, Changmin screamed for Sung Neul, and all fingers pointed at Kouchi.

"Noona, that girl said I was cute." Changmin whined. Sung Neul tsked.

"Changmin, if you dislike girls so much, then you should take no mind to them, araso?" She said. Changmin frowned, then nodded as if he understood.

"Well I have to go. College awaits." She said as she ran her fingers through his hair. She hugged him goodbye and left.

"Noona." Changmin whispered. Now he was all alone. Sooyoung was observing from her desk and walked towards Changmin.

"Gwenchanyo?" She asked. Changmin's eyes widened.

"You're a girl!" He shouted as he ran away. Sooyoung's jaw dropped to the floor.

That's the second time today. She thought miserably.

"Alright Kouchi. If you behave yourself today, I'll take you out for kimchi fried rice for dinner, araso? I have to go now anyways." Sungmin said as he pinched her cheek. Kouchi couldn't help but smile and hug her uncle.

"Anyong oppa." She shouted as she watched him leave.

Class #1

"B minor." Jonghyun said. Yesung sang a B minor.

"C flat." Onew said. Jonghyun and Yesung sang a C flat.

"A minor." He said. The other two did as before.

"Now go up eight octaves!" He shouted. Jonghyun sang as if he were Michael Jackson. Yesung sang like he was in a metal rock band. Luna shook her head and sang higher and clearer. The other three looked at her surprised as she cleared her throat and walked away.

"What's in there?" Heechul asked. Yunho lifted the top off the huge chest.

"Dress up clothes!" He shouted. Heechul's ears perked up and he looked inside and pulled out a pink princess gown.

"Help me!" He urged. Yunho pulled the dress over and down Heechul's body. Heechul struggled to put his arms through the sleeves, but managed.

"So, how do I look?" He asked. Sulli saw her brother and frowned.

"Ani, you not pretty enough. You need make-up." She said as she got various colored markers out. Heechul shrugged and let his sister "apply make-up" on his face. Yunho searched the chest for a costume he could wear, but ended up falling in.

"Cool! Look what I found!" He said as he stuck a skipper's hat on his head. It was kind of big so it fell over his eyes. Sulli was finished drawing on Heechul's face and smiled at her work.

"There, all better." She said proudly. Heechul faced Yunho and Yunho lifted his hat and got out of the chest so he could see.

Yunho laughed and fell back in the chest. Heechul's face was practically a rainbow. His eye lids were purple, his cheek bones pink, and his lips were red. BoA wondered what was all the noise, and then she saw Heechul. Her face palmed.

Oh. My. God. She thought.

"Who did this?" She asked. Sulli shrugged.

"Heechulie oppa did it. I just wacth." She said.

"No I didn't!" He shouted as BoA dragged him to the bathroom to get cleaned.

Meanwhile, Kangta was writing on the board for preparation for the lesson. Today they were going to do a show and tell about themselves. As Kangta wrote on the board, Yuri and Yoona were watching from the other side of his desk. Kangta frowned as he heard them giggle. He turned around and saw their scrunchies stick out from under the table.

"You don't see us." Yoona said.

"We ninjas, see?" Yuri said as she jumped into a ninja pose. Yoona followed suit and kicked the air. Kangta laughed as they leaned from standing on one foot.

"Very cute ninjas." He said as he patted both of their heads.

"Ahh." Sung Neul sighed. First period was over just like that.

I hope Changmin's alright. She thought. Then she laughed to herself.

Probably not. It isn't lunch time yet. She added.

Sungmin walked out of the hallways into the green courtyard. It was called the green courtyard since most of it was plants and trees. He breathed in the outdoor air and breathed out.

"Rather cool for a summer day." He said to himself. He walked along the grass and saw Sung Neul sitting on a bench.

Hm, she looks awfully familiar. He thought. Then he remembered her face from this morning.

"Omo, do I know you?" He asked. Sung Neul looked at him.

Aigoo, it's him again! She thought. She was terrible whenever she talked to boys, even little ones. It was one of those things she had in common with Changmin: They both feared the opposite gender.

"Um, neh. I think it was at Changmin's kindergarten." She mumbled. Sungmin nodded and remembered what happened earlier.

"That's right. By the way, is he alright? Kouchi can be a bit impulsive." He said apologetically. Sung Neul let out a small laugh.

"Neh, gwenchanayo. He's not that fond of girls, that's why." She said. Sungmin laughed along with her, then he remembered that he still didn't know her name, nor did she know his.

"Excuse me for coming up and speaking to you like this. Cheoneun Lee Sungmin inmida." He said formally. Sung Neul straightened up at his sudden formality and introduced herself.

"Cheoneun Lee Sung Neul inmida." She said grinning.

Lee Sung Neul. Sungmin thought.

Unnie sleeps too much. Tiffany thought. She sat next to Jessica, who was curled up in a ball sleeping. She sighed and moved the hair from her unnie's face.

Unnie looks pretty when she's not mean. She added.

"Yah!" Kyuhyun cried. He jumped for his DSi, but Sooyoung was too tall.

"Aniyo, no electronics are allowed in school." She said as she put it on top of a shelf. Kyuhyun stomped away angrily as Kibum watched in enjoyment.

Serves you right. He thought as he stuck his tongue out.

Eunhyuk and Donghae were playing animals. Eunhyuk was a monkey while Donghae was a fish.

"Look! I'm a dancing monkey!" Eunhyuk said as he waved, popped, and jerked.

"I'm a rapping fishy." Donghae said."*Sori naeji malgo urin geujeo i gongganeul neukkyeo, gipi bbajyeodeuneun sarang jeunghuguneul neukkyeo."

Hyoyeon watched in amazement.

A dancing monkey. A rapping fish. What does that make me? She thought to herself. Then she snapped her fingers.

A multi-talented tiger. She thought proudly.

Junsu was sitting in a chair drawing on a piece of paper. Then he felt something nudge his foot. He looked under the table and found Changmin lying on his stomach.

"Whatcha doin?" Junsu asked. Changmin looked at him.

"Hiding, now be quiet." He snapped.

"From what?"

"Her." He said pointing at Kouchi. Kouchi was playing house with Kibum, with him being the baby and her being the mommy.

"Her? But she looks pretty." Junsu said. Changmin shook his head.

"Nuh uh. She's a girl. And boys and girls can't be together. Only ummas and appas." He reasoned. Junsu shrugged and finished coloring the ruby red heart on his paper.

I like girls. He thought.

"Now Kibummie, you stay her alright? Umma is gonna get the groceries from the mail man." Kouchi said as she skipped away. Kibum frowned.

The mail man mails food? He thought confused.

***

"Huh, chinja eyo?" Sungmin said. Sung Neul just explained that she and Changmin were living alone for the time being, until their parents came back from their trip.

"At least yours are close enough to travel together. My parents can't leave the house without having an argument." He said bitterly. Sung Neul sighed.

"I'm sorry."

"Waeyo? It's not your fault. It's no one's really. But hyung mostly blames himself." He said.

"Hm?"

"Kouchi's appa. You see, she was born even before he and her umma got married. Our parents think she's an accident, I think otherwise. Their feud started when he announced he was gonna marry noona. Appa said it was alright, umma disagreed. So they had no other choice but to elope and move away. Eventually, they couldn't raise enough money to raise Kouchi, so now she's with me." Sungmin explained.

Sung Neul couldn't wrap her head around it. How could such an innocent little girl, be the result of a family feud? If it was anybodies fault, it would be the parents'.

"Sorry to drop such a heavy burden on you. I just needed someone to talk to, and I'm pretty sure that Kouchi is way too young to understand this." He said softly.

"Gwenchanayo, I'd feel the same way." She said.

"Hmph, I guess so." He said quietly as he looked at the grass.

Class #3

Leeteuk was walking around aimlessly, looking for something to do. Minho followed him, doing the exact same thing. Then Leeteuk turned around, so did Minho. He turned back to the front and took a step to the right, Minho followed. Everything Leeteuk did, Minho followed suit. Then Leeteuk got aggravated and turned around.

"Why are you copying me?" He shouted. Minho's face was expressionless.

"How do you know you're not copying me?" He said cheekily. Leeteuk frowned, then laughed.

"You're good." He said putting an arm over Minho's shoulder.

Kangin ran past them with two pieces of colored pencils. He just robbed Ryeowook of his blue colored pencil, and broke the tip off. Ryeowook tried to run after him but tripped over his slightly baggy pants. Taeyeon and Seohyun saw this and ran to the rescue.

"Gwenchana?" Seohyun asked. Ryeowook shook his head. That blue colored pencil was his favorite, and now, it was in the hands of a bully.

"What happened?" Taeyeon asked.

"Kangin took my colored pencil." He whined. Taeyeon and Seohyun then helped Ryeowook up and played with him so he would feel better. Kangin watched and looked at the broken pencil in his hands.

Lucky. He thought bitterly.

"So much noise." Krystal said in English.

"Tell me about it." Micky said, speaking in English as well. Amber was sitting near by and listened quietly.

"You know, I never wanted to be a teacher." Krystal said.

"You don't say?"

"Yup, I always wanted to be a performer." She said wishfully.

"So what happened?" Amber asked in fluent English. She stood close to Krystal's desk. Her eyes widened.

"Eh?"

"You said you wanted to perform. So what happened? You weren't good enough?" She said."That's too bad. I would've watched you, too." She added as she walked away. Micky laughed hard as Krystal muttered angrily.

"You got told by a five year old." He said wiping his eyes.

"Shut up." She snapped.

Meanwhile, Shindong and Taemin were break dancing on a table. Shindong spun on his back and Taemin did a one hand stand. Shindong, thoroughly impressed, tried to do a back flip, but instead, folded the table by accident and fell on the floor.

"Hyung, gwenchana?" Taemin asked, his hair covering his eyes. Shindong looked up and smiled.

"That was fun!" He said sitting up. Taemin frowned.

"No fair, I wanna try!" He said.

"Aniyo, no more standing on the table." Mick said as he fixed the table.

"Aw."

It was the end of day and Sung Neul looked at her watch.

3:15. Gotta go pick up Changmin. She thought as she stood up. She stretched her arms high.

"That was a long lecture, neh?" Sungmin said as he walked toward her. She gasped and laughed at her own reaction.

"Neh. You going to pick up Kouchi soon, hm?" She asked as she put her things in her bag. He nodded.

"So I guess I'll see you there. Hopefully Changmin won't be so afraid like this morning.

***

"NOONA!" Changmin shouted as he threw himself at Sung Neul. She caught him and picked him up.

I guess I spoke too soon. She thought sadly. Then she felt something pull on her shirt sleeve. She looked down and saw Kouchi, brown eyes and all.

"Omo, gwenchanayo?" She asked. Kouchi continued to look at her.

"My oppa says he likes you!" She said loudly. Sung Neul gasps and Sungmin's eyes widened and he immediately pick up Kouchi.

"As a friend Kouchi ah, friend!" He said desperately. Sung Neul breathed a sigh of relief, yet she felt little hurt at the same time.

"You sure? She's too pretty to be a friend." Kouchi said.

"Than what am I?" Sung Neul asked.

"Unnie!" She shouted in delight. They all laughed in unison except for Changmin.

"Noona, I'm hungry, let's go home." He whined.

"Alright, araso. I gotta go, this kid will eat anything and will still be hungry. Bye Kouchi ah, bye Sungmin sshi." She said as she waved to them goodbye.

"By Unnie!" Kouchi shouted. After Kouchi said goodbye to everyone(including the cubbies, books, stuffed animals, ect.) they walked over to their car and started to drive home. Kouchi took out her left over crackers from lunch and tried to pry the bag open. The bag ended up bursting and crackers flew left right and center.

"Sorry!" She shouted from the back seat.

She is definitely no accident. More like an accident maker. He thought contentedly.

Chapter 6
Times When Kids Seem Too Cute

"FOOD!" Changmin cries out. Once Sung Neul set down his plate of fish tempura with rice, he scooped mouthfuls of it as if it were his last meal. Sung Neul chuckles as he lifts his head with rice stuck all over his mouth.

"Thanks noona!" He shouted. She shook her head as she cleaned his face.

"Why do you have to be so loud?" Sung Neul asked. He shrugged.

Another one of his deficiencies. She thought. First food, then girls, now this.

Then she started to wonder why Changmin hated girls so much.

"Say, Changmin ah, why are you afraid of girls?" Sung Neul asked. He set his glass down after he took a sip of water. He stared at his noona, then shrugged.

"I dunno." Changmin said flatly. Sung Neul's face palmed.

"Surely there must be a reason. Is it because their different than you? Or is it because the can grow their hair out and boys can't? Because if that's the case, umma would be very upset if I ever let that happen." She said thinking aloud.

"No. I don't like them because they wear funny things." Changmin said. Sung Neul frowned.

"Like what?"

"They wear skirts and not pants." He said simply.

"And that's funny how?" She asked, still not understanding the toddler's logic. He huffed as if Sung Neul was the slow one.

"Because it's just one big giant hole!" He said. Sung Neul threw her head back laughing at his 'logical' reason, but Changmin, being the kid that he is, thought that her reaction was in his favor.

"I know right? That's why you should throw away all your skirts and buy pants noona." He said nodding his head.

***

"That was a good meal oppa." Kouchi said contentedly in her booster seat. They were driving home from their dinner out and Sungmin was slightly upset because Kouchi couldn't help but order more and more food. He sulked as his wallet cried out "Feed me, feed me!". Then he looked at the mirror and saw Kouchi's happy face. He couldn't help but grin and forget all about the money.

"Glad you enjoyed it Kouchi." He said.

"Tomorrow, can we go eat Japanese?" She asked.

"After what you spent? No." He said chuckling.

"Poopy."

***

Once they got home, Kouchi ran to the fish tank to greet the fishes.

"Anyong fishies! I'm back from school." She said happily.

Poor fish. Sungmin thought. Then Kouchi skipped upstairs to change her clothes. Sungmin sat himself on the couch and pulled out his laptop. He started to work on his thesis about psychology. After a few minutes, Kouchi ran back downstairs wearing a t-shirt with a piece of cake on it and pink shorts. She pulled out paper and crayons from her backpack and started to draw.

"Oppa, what are you doing?" She asked. Sungmin looked up from the screen.

"Homework." He said as he returned to making an outline to his thesis.

"Oh okay, well I'm drawing. Today in art, Miss Sooyoung drew a funny picture of an elephant. She said it was supposed to be a portrait of Miss Hyoyeon, but Miss Hyoyeon kept saying it was an elephant. I thought it looked like an elephant, too, so I believed her." Kouchi said."Then they told us to draw anything we'd like. Tiffany, my new friend, drew a heart with cute eyes. Kyuhyun drew a space ship with laser guns and missiles. I dunno what those are, but he says it's in a video game he played last week. Junsu drew a heart and gave it to me, but I accidentally lost it after clean up time. I dunno where it went, but Junsu made me another one. He's really nice. After art was math. I learned how to count to twenty today. It goes one, two, three, pour, five, sick, seven, eight, mine, den, and, and, oh no!"

"What?" Sungmin asked.

"I forgot what comes after den!" Kouchi cried out. Sungmin laughed, although her pronounciation wasn't right, he didn't want to spoil her moment, so he only told her what came after 'den'.

"Eleven Kouchi, eleven." He said grinning.

"Oh yeah. Eleven, twelb, tirteen, pourteen, fifteen, sickteen, seventeen, eighteen, mineteen, twenty!" She said happily.

"Good job Kouchi." Sungmin said as he clapped.

"Thank you very much." Kouchi said smugly. Then she returned to drawing her picture and he returned to writing his thesis.

***

"Changmin! Come back here!" Sung Neul shouted. It was late in the afternoon, and Changmin needed to take a bath. But while Sung Neul was turning the water on, he ran away. Not only that, but he was running around the house in his Spider Man undies.

"No! The water is always too hot!" Changmin shouted. They've been at it for almost five minutes now and Sung Neul was getting tired.

"Yah! If you don't take a bath, I'll call umma and tell her not to get you a hamburger from America!" She shouted. Although it was most likely that their umma wouldn't get Changmin a hamburger from America, Changmin still thought it was a big deal. So he continued running and ran into the bathroom.

"Noona! Hurry up so I can get my hamburger!" He shouted. Sung Neul walked into the bathroom and helped him shampoo his hair. After the bath, Changmin started singing about hamburgers.

"Hamburgers are yummy, they will go into my tummy. They taste good with fries, I'm not telling any lies." He sang happily.

"Even if umma were to get you a hamburger, she wouldn't give it to you now." She said as

"What?"

"Never mind."

***

"Ah, done with my outline." Sungmin said to himself. He leaned back in his seat and sighed. Then he looked over to where Kouchi was sitting, and found her lying on the floor sleeping. He set his laptop aside and went over to pick her up. After he picker her up he set her on the couch and looked over her drawings. One was of him with a mustache.

I don't have a mustache. He thought. Then he looked at the other ones. Some were of random animals, some of the people she met at school. Then Sungmin let out a sad sigh. The picture he was looking at was of Kouchi with her parents.

So you do miss them. He thought. He took a few of the pictures and walked into the kitchen. Then he took some magnets and put them up on the refridgerator.

Next time, I'll buy frames. He thought resolutely.

Chapter 7
Purpose for Education

It was the second morning after he started school and Changmin was determined to not go today. To him, school was like a field of mine bombs. Girls here, girls there, girls everywhere! So being the naive boy he is, he pretended that he was sleeping.

"Changmin ah, wake up. You have school today." Sung Neul called out from the bathroom. She was busy tying up her hair that she didn't realize that she hadn't heard Changmin say "Noona, I'm hungry." yet. She walked out of the bathroom and swung her school bag over her shoulder.

"Changmin, wake up!" Sung Neul shouted as she walked down the stairs. He still didn't reply. Instead, Changmin was busy trying to think of ways to get out of school for the whole year. Meanwhile, Sung Neul walked back to the foot of the stairs and looked up.

"Changmin! Get up! Now!" She yelled. Changmin jumped on his bed, hid under his blanket, and acted as if he didn't hear her, even though he was pretty sure everyone in South Korea did.

Still not answering. He hasn't even had breakfast yet, so how can he just stay there like that? She thought.

"Changmin, if you don't get ready now, I'll eat your boiled egg with rice, and I'll take your lunch to school!" Sung Neul said. Changmin sat up and ran across the hall into the bathroom.

Much better. She thought grinning.

***

"Sungmin oppa! Where's my pink bow?" Kouchi shouted as she threw numerous pieces of clothing out of her closet. Sungmin walked into her room and got hit by cupcake underwear. He folded it and placed it on the bed. He did so with the other articles of clothing Kouchi was flinging out.

"Kouchi ah, if you're looking for you pink bow, I doubt you'll find it in there." Sungmin said as he picked her up. She huffed as he set her on his lap.

"Then where is it?" She whined.

"Where did you last put it?" He asked. Kouchi looked at her uncle, then thought of when she last saw her pink bow. She remembered she was playing with it yesterday; then she showed it to the fish; and she remembered that the fish said it wanted to...

"POOPY!" She shouted.

"Eh?" Sungmin said as she jumped off his lap.

"I put it in the fish tank." Kouchi said.

"Waeyo?"

"Because the fishy told me he wanted to look pretty, so I let him have my bow." She said happily.

"The fish told you that?" Sungmin asked. Kouchi nodded vigorously. He sighed.

"Well I can't argue with that logic." He said as he got up and left. Kouchi crawled under her bed to see if she could find anything else to put in her hair, but she actually found the pink bow she's been looking for.

"Hwa! I found it. But what did I give the fishy?" She said to herself.

Sungmin walked over to the fish talk to see if he could retrieve Kouchi's bow, but his jaw dropped to the floor.

Instead of a bow, it was his cell phone. It said he had five missed calls.

"Kouchi!"

"Aw poopy."

Class #1

Boa and Kangta both breathed out a sigh. It took them almost ten minutes to get all of Class #1 into their seats. Heechul and Yesung were the most troublesome to calm down, but they managed.

"Okay class, today we're going to learn about colors." Kangta said."There are many colors, there's black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and a lot more."

"The color of Mister Kangta's glasses are white. The color of my shirt, is blue." BoA said. She pointed to the colors on the board and explained how different colors are made when mixed together.

"Now who would like to tell us their favorite color?" Kangta asked. Yoona shyly raised her hand. BoA nodded to her and she stood up.

"My favorite color is pink." Yoona said. Then Heechul stood up angrily.

"You can't have pink as your favorite color, that's my favorite color!" He shouted. Yoona looked at him and her eyes started to tear up. Yuri stood up and hugged Yoona, then she looked at Heechul.

"Yah, why are you so mean?" She shouted. Then Sulli stood up and put her hands on her hips.

"Only me can call Heechullie oppa mean!" She shouted. Kangta and BoA tensed up at the sudden uprising.

"Heechull hyung isn't mean!" Yesung shouted."Jonghyun is!"

"Yah!" Jonghyun shouted.

"Jonghyun oppa isn't mean, too!" Onew shouted."You're mean for saying it!"

"Yes he is!" Luna shouted in agreement.

"No he isn't!" Yunho shouted.

"Yes he is!"

"No he isn't!"

"Yes he is!"

The whole class was divided on whether this kid was mean or not. Kangta and BoA lowered their heads since they have started World War III: The War of Colors. Yuri continued to comfort Yoona as the rest of the kids continued debating.

"Yes! He! Is!"

"No! He! Isn't!"

"Yes! He! Is!"

"He is what?" Luna asked.

***

Sung Neul walked out of her classroom and went over to the green courtyard.

Today's lecture was nice, the teacher is very funny. She thought happily. Then she saw Sungmin on the same bench from yesterday typing on his laptop. She hesitated and almost turned around until Sungmin looked up and waved at her to come sit with him. Blood rushed to her cheeks but he was too far away to see that.

"Anyonghaseyo." Sung Neul said as she sat next to him on the bench.

"Anyonghaseyo. So how were your morning classes?" Sungmin asked as he closed his laptop.

"IThey was good. Definitely not the worst." She said grinning.

"That's good." He said happily."So is this your first year?"

"Hm? Neh, this is my first year. Not as bad as everyone says it is, I actually kind of enjoy it." Sung Neul said.

"Keuraeyo? I hated my first year. So much reading and writing. I almost developed carpal tunnel." Sungmin said leaning back in his seat. Sung Neul's eyes widened.

"Eh? Carpal tunnel?" She said rubbing her hands. He let out a loud chuckle.

"I was just kidding Sung Neul sshi." He said patting her head. She looked up and frowned.

"Sungmin sshi, what's your hand doing up there?" She asked. He laughed quietly as she looked up trying to see his hand.

"Nothing, it's resting." He joked.

"Oh, okay." She said laughing with him.

***

Class #2

"Who here knows the alphabet?" Hyoyeon asked. All the kids looked around. Apparently, no one knew the alphabet yet.

"The alphabet is made of letters which are used to make words. Like apple starts with an A, banana starts with a B, and crackers start with a C." Sooyoung said. Then her stomach rumbled.

Is that all you can think about, you pig? Hyoyeon thought.

"So let's see if we can all find words that start with the letters of the alphabet. Starting with A." Sooyoung said.

"A is for acting." Kibum said.

"B is for bread." Kouchi said happily. She had bread for breakfast, so that should explain her answer.

"C is for cucumbers." Changmin said hungrily.

"D is for die." Jessica said. She resented cucumbers with every fiber of her being.

"E is for Eunhyukie!" Donghae said. Eunhyuk smiled wide, showing his gums.

"F is for F4." Tiffany said. She absolutely loved Boys Over Flowers. Especially Lee Minho.

"G is for girls." Junsu said. Tiffany laughed and clapped her hands vigorously, then Jessica gently hit her on the head.

"H is for hot girls." Eunhyuk said. Hyoyeon and Sooyoung frowned at his unusually mature choice of words.

"I is for icky girls." Changmin said. Then the two teachers' jaws dropped.

"No! I is for Ice Princess." Donghae said smiling from ear to ear. Jessica glared at him then her expression softened when Tiffany poked her face.

"J is for Jessica, and she's warm ice." Tiffany said.

"K is for kiss." Junsu said. Changmin stuck out his tongue.

"L is for love." Eunhyuk said.

"M is for morons." Kyuhyun said. He was starting to think that Eunhyuk and Junsu's love sick antics were getting old.

"N is for not nice." Kibum said dissaprovingly.

"O is for octopus." Kouchi said grinning. The kids stared at her since her answer seemed a little out of the blue.

"P is for popsicle." Changmin said.

"Q is for quiet." Jessica said, still mad at him for saying 'cucumbers'.

"R is for rong number." Junsu said.

"Wrong" doesn't start with an R. Hyoyeon thought. Sooyoung shook her head, not pleased at where this was headed.

"S is for cell phone." Tiffany said. Kibum laughed loudly.

"Cell phone don't start with S." He said.

"Shut up!" Jessica said. Kibum timidly sat in his seat avoiding her cold glare.

"T is for T-Max!" Kouchi shouted.

"Who's that?" Eunhyuk asked.

"I dunno, but I saw them on TV. One of them had crazy hair." She said.

"U is for 'Cuz I can't stop thinking 'bout U girl'." Donghae sang.

"V is for video games." Kyuhyun said.

"W is for weenie." Eunhyuk said, upset that Kyuhyun called him and Junsu 'morons'.

"X is for X-men!" Changmin said.

"Z is for sleep." Jessica said as she laid her head on the table and fell asleep. The class fell silent afterwards. Hyoyeon and Sooyoung looked at each other.

This is why kids need education. They both thought.

***

"A theses, hm? I wrote one about a book when I was in seventh grade." Sung Neul said.

"Probably one of those short ones like a book report. I have to write at least twenty pages." Sungmin said. Sung Neul's eyes widened.

"Keurayo?" She asked.

"Neh." He said."Scared yet?"

"Maybe." She said defensively. Sungmin grinned.

"So how's Kouchi?" She asked changing the subject. He sighed unpleasantly.

"Omo, waeyo? Gwenchanayo?"

"Neh, she is, but she can do the oddest things." Sungmin explained."Like this morning, I found my phone in my fish tank."

"Omo, Changmin does weird things, too. Whenever he sees me, he says "Noona, I'm hungry". It's almost as if I'm the cause of his dietary habits." Sung Neul said.

"I guess such behavior is normal for their age though." He said.

"Neh, probably."

***

Class #3

Micky and Krystal lined the kids of Class #3 in a line across the room.

"Mister Micky, why are we in a line?" Seohyun asked.

"Because we're going to learn about numbers today." He said.

"Someone did a number two in the bathroom." Leeteuk blurted out. Seohyun moaned unhappily.

"That's gross Teuki." Taeyeon said angrily.

"It's true Tengu." Leeteuk said cheekily. Taeyeon stuck her tongue out at him. Earlier today, Leeteuk stole Taeyeon's starfish clip and hid it somewhere. When she found out, she asked him where it was, but he forgot where he hid it. So in short, she wasn't very please that she was standing next to him.

"Okay, so now that we're all lined up, how many students do you think there are?" Krystal asked.

Thousands. Micky thought tiredly.

"Let's count from the left and to the right." Krystal said.

"One!" Kangin shouted."I'm numbuh ONE!"

"You don't have to shout." Micky said rubbing his ears.

"Two." Minho said.

"Three." Leeteuk said.

"Four." Taeyeon mumbled.

"Five." Seohyun said grinning.

"Six." Amber said.

"Seven." Ryeowook said.

"Eight." Shindong said.

"..." Taemin froze. He looked at the other students and frowned confused.

"Taemin ah, what's wrong?" Krystal asked.

"WE RAN OUT OF NUMBERS!" He cried out. Micky and Krystal threw their heads back laughing.

"We ran out? Then maybe we should go out and buy some." Ryeowook said as he pointed out the door.

"I'll go!" Leeteuk volunteered. Taeyeon grinned and pushed him all the way to the door.

"Go now!" She said opening the door and throwing him out.

"But where do I buy-" Leeteuk started to say."numbers?"

He scratched the back of his head. Taeyeon had already slammed the door and left him outside; and to open the door from the outside, you needed a key.

"Oh well." He said as he skipped to the playground.

After Micky and Krystal explained to Taemin that numbers went on forever, they lined the kids back up again.

"Eight." Taemin said happily. Krystal counted again.

"But there's supposed to be nine." She said to herself.

"Teukie is out." Ryeowook said.

"Eh? Where?" Micky asked.

"He went to buy numbers." Minho said.

"WHAT?!"

Chapter 8
When Kids get Way out of Control

It was lunch time at the kindergarten and right now was the calm before the storm. Yuri and Yoona were exchanging milk and Heechul and Yesung were trying to invent a sandwich flinger using pencils and a rubber band. Taeyeon was trying to talk to Jessica while Tiffany was teaching Seohyun a little bit of English. Changmin and Yunho were against Junsu and Eunhyuk in an argument about girls. So far, no one was winning. Kouchi was listening to Kyuhyun lecture about Starcraft and Leeteuk was teaching Minho the ways of gag acts. Donghae was "cooking" a pudding consisting of kimbap, rice, bread, and chocolate mixed in a pudding cup. Amber, Luna, and Sulli were talking about playing house when it was time for recess and Taemin was somehow dragged in it by becoming the baby of three mommies. Ryeowook was happily eating cookies until Kangin came and stole them all.

"Yah, those were mines!" He shouted as he ran after him. Kangin laughed and threw the plastic bag in the air. The bag then hit Heechul in the face, resulting in a flying sandwich in Donghae's direction. Then Donghae's pudding flew in the air and exploded in Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, and Seohyun's faces.

"Wah!" They all whined. Jessica glared angrily at Donghae and he ran to get napkins for them. As he was running, he tripped on his shoe lace and fell face first on the floor. Then Leeteuk and Minho came walking in his direction, resulting in a boy pile in the middle of the room. Onew saw this and stood on the table.

"DOG PILE!" He shouted as he jumped on top of Leeteuk, Donghae, and Minho.

"Cannonball!" Shindong shouted as he jumped with him.

"Yeah!"Jonghyun said. He jumped as well. Luna tsked and threw rice at them. Sulli did the same and threw kimchi at the bottom of Leeteuk's pants.

Oops. Leeteuk thought, thinking it was his own accident.

"Unnie, it smells." Tiffany whined. Jessica frowned.

"Donghae sshi!" She shouted.

"Donghae! I'll save you!" Eunhyuk said, diving into the people pile.

***

Oddly enough, the teacher's weren't aware of this yet even if they were in the room next door.

"So many kids." Micky sighed.

"Tell me about it." BoA said.

"I think they hate me." Sooyoung sulked.

"If I gain weight during the school year, it's because these kids are out of hand. We really need assistants and chaperons." Hyoyeon said.

"Maybe we should ask the parents?" Kangta suggested.

***

Meanwhile--

"Hyukie!" Junsu cried out.

"Save yourself!" Eunhyuk shouted. Amber looked over at the boy pile.

Sure looks fun. She thought. Then she jumped on the table and joined in the pile.

"Amber! What are you doing?" Luna shouted.

"Amber? I thought she was a boy?" Kangin said confused as he sat in his seat. Taemin got angry at this remark and pushed Kangin off his seat and into the pile.

"Amber is a GIRL and she is my SISTER!" He shouted.

"What about me?!" Minho cried out."I'm your brother!"

Kouchi came back from the bathroom and looked at the ongoing chaos. She looked around and walked towards Changmin.

"What happened?" She asked. Changmin blinked and then jumped in the pile as a last resort. She shrugged and went to ask Tiffany.

"What happened?" She asked again.

"We got hit by poop!" Tiffany cried out. Taeyeon was helping Seohyun clean her face while Jessica was making disgusted grimaces. Yuri and Yoon just sat and watched, then they got hit by a sandwich.

"Bulls-eye!" Yesung shouted. Yoona started to cry and Yuri started running after Heechul and Yesung.

***

In the teachers' lounge--

Krystal felt a cold breeze and flinched.

"Something wrong?" Kangta asked.

"I thought I just felt an ominous aura." She murmured.

"Oh, must be a draft." He said.

"Guess so."

***

"I will conquer you all and call this land Kyutopia!" Kyuhyun shouted as he stood on the table. No one was paying attention to him except Kouchi.

"Kyu-what?" Kouchi asked.

"Kyutopia. Now obey me or pay the price!"

"What price?" She asked.

"I will throw you into the pile of canabals." He said solemnly. Kouchi looked at the pile and bowed.

"Yes master."

Ryeowook still was looking around for his stolen cookies.

***

"Well, time for recess." Micky said. The female teacher's groaned.

"Is it that time of the month again?" He asked. Then they threw their trash at him.

"Have you no respect?" Hyoyeon said.

"You disgust me." BoA muttered.

So tactless. Kangta thought sadly. They all stood up and walked into the kids' cafeteria. All of them stared in shock.

There was a huge pile consisting of mostly boys in the middle of the room; Heechul, Yesung, and Yuri were running in circles around the room; Luna and Sulli were throwing food at everyone; Kouchi and Taeyeon were cleaning the 'poop' off of Jessica and Tiffany; Ryeowook was wandering aimlessly, lost without his cookies.

Then the founder of the school walked in due to inspections. He frowned at the kids being out of control and the teachers just standing and watching.

"What is going on here?" Lee Soo Man shouted. The teachers gasped and lowered their heads and the kids froze. He walked in front of the teachers and scolded them using words too big for the toddlers to understand.

"Whoa." Kyuhyun whispered."I don't wanna be ruler anymore."

"Okay." Kouchi whispered back. Yoona continued to cry quietly and Taemin pulled his siblings out of the pile. Donghae passed a few napkins to Jessica and Ryeowook found his cookies and hid behind a chair. All the kids quietly cleaned up and sat in their seats.

"I'm scared unnie." Tiffany said.

"Be quiet." Jessica snapped. After a few moments, Lee Soo Man looked at the cafeteria and then left. All the kids breathed out a sigh. Kangta sighed and stepped forward.

"Time for recess." He announced.

Chapter 9
Saving Peoples Heads From Getting Chopped and Set on Fire

Sung Neul and Sungmin were having lunch together at the same bench in the green courtyard. Although they were having lunch, they were engrossed in homework, almost forgetting that they were in each other’s presence. Sungmin leaned back and stretched his arms up high. Then he looked to the left to see how Sung Neul was doing, and grinned. Her face was inches away from her text book and her lips were in a pout. He waved a hand in front of her; she didn’t move. Then he made silly expressions; still nothing. He frowned and started to flail his hands in the air; no dice.

“Sung Neul sshi.” He said with a musical like tone. She still didn’t move.

“You know, I was thinking. We’ve known each other for a while now, neh?” He continued.

More like two days. He added to himself.

“…”

“So I think maybe we should stop using formal terms, don’t you think?” Sungmin said.

“…”

“Neh, I think so, too. So from now on, you can call me Sungmin oppa. Or even better yet, how about Minnie oppa?” He said looking at the sky. Then she blinked, looked around, and faced Sungmin.

“I’m sorry, did you say something?” Sung Neul asked apologetically. Sungmin dropped his head down.

“Nothing, I was just asking what time it was.” He said leaning back in his seat.

“Oh, okay. It’s almost half past twelve.”

“Thanks Sung Neul ah—I mean Sung Neul sshi.”

“Eh?”

***

It was recess time at the kindergarten and things were starting to go back to normal. Heechul, Yesung, and Kangin were racing to the top of the monkey gym.

“Yah, I’m oldest, I should be at the top!” Heechul cried out. His girlish body structure prevented him from climbing as fast and Yesung and Kangin.

“I’m strongest, and the strongest should be at the top!” Kangin said. Yesung stopped and thought for a while. If Heechul was oldest, and Kangin was strongest, what was he?

“Well I’m weirdest!” He shouted.

Tiffany, Kouchi, and Seohyun were drawing with pink chalk on the concrete. Seohyun drew a misshaped sweet potato; Tiffany drew bunny with a large tail; and Kouchi drew *the big Dango family.

“What’s that?” Seohyun asked. Kouchi looked up and grinned.

“It’s the big Dango family.” She said happily.”They even have a song. It goes: Dango, Dango, Dango, Dango, Dango, big family.”

“Cute.” Jessica muttered as she closed her eyes. Taeyeon sat next to her and wrapped her arms around her legs.

“I’m Taeyeon, you can call me Taengu.” She said happily.

Then Jessica opened her eyes and stood up.

“You talk too much.” She said as she ran to find another
place to sleep. Taeyeon frowned.

“No I don’t.” She said to herself.

“Taemin, say ‘ah’.” Luna said as she pretended to feed
Taemin a spoonful of baby food. Taemin unwillingly said ‘ah’ and spit out his invisible food.

“It’s bad.” He said. Amber was playing in the play kitchen wondering what the knobs on the stove do.

“Taemin ah, time for a bath.” Sulli sang out. She dragged a huge plastic storage box that could easily fit three toddlers.

“Eh?” He said as she was tugging on his shirt.

“Well you can’t take a bath with your shirt on silly.” Luna said as she pretended to pour soap in the tub. Taemin frowned.

“Oh yeah, okay.” He said as he lifted his shirt.

“I’m king of the world! And my first law is that chicken should be eaten all the time.” Onew said as he stood at the top of the slide. Jonghyun shook his head and pushed him down. Onew landed face first in the dirt.

“I don’t want chicken, I want soondaegook.” Jonghyun said. Shindong, Kibum, and Kyuhyun were playing “bad guys versus good guys”. Kyuhyun declared himself bad guy since “bad guys always got the good stuff”, whatever that meant; so that left Kibum being the good guy, and Shindong being the sidekick.

“Mwahahahaha, I will soon take over all of Soul(Seoul) ,then all of South Korea, and then the whole WORLD!” Kyuhyun cried out.

“Not if we do it first!” Kibum said. Then Shindong frowned.

“But I thought we were gonna stop him from doing that?” He
said.

“Yeah, so we can rule the world.” Kibum said.

“Then wouldn’t that make us the bad guys?”

“Yah! No fair, I already called being the bad guy!” Kyuhyun said as he tackled Kibum.

Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Minho were playing in the sand box. Donghae was burying his shoes in the sand and Minho was make a sand castle(more like a sand pile). Leeteuk and Eunhyuk were pretending they were on the beach scoping out for “babes wearing zucchinis”.

“Look at that one.” Eunhyuk said as he pointed at empty air.

“Look at the zucchinis on that one!” Leeteuk shouted.

“Those zucchinis look nice and ripe.” Eunhyuk said grinning.

Zucchinis? Yunho thought as he walked past them. Isn’t that a vegetable?

Ryeowook was sitting in the shade sharing his fruit snacks with Changmin and Junsu.

“That guy from lunch was scary.” Ryeowook said as he picked a cherry flavored gummy.

“Yup, so huge and loud, like a vaccum.” Junsu said as he popped a blueberry gummy in his mouth. Changmin nodded and then he overheard the teachers talking a few feet away.

“That was intense.” Krystal said. They were all sitting at a table glad that they weren’t sent to the chopping block.

“I should have applied for teaching fifth graders.” BoA said.

“It’s only been two days, I’m sure things will look up in due time.” Kangta said.

“He looked like he was about to cut our heads off.” Sooyoung whined.

“I’d prefer that to getting fired. If only we had some help.” Hyoyeon said.

“What help? I wouldn’t help us even for a million won.” Micky said. Changmin thought for a moment, and then walked over to the teachers.

“Do you need help?” He asked.

“Eh?”

“My noona can help you. Not only that, but she’ll do it for free.” Changmin said proudly. The teachers looked at each other.

“Only if it’s alright with your noona, then she can help.” BoA said. Changmin nodded and went on to spread the news.

“Our teachers are gonna get their heads cut off and set on fire! They need help ASAP!” He shouted as he ran through out the playground. Hyoyeon groaned, Sooyoung smacked her forehead, and Micky laughed loudly.

“Cool.” Kyuhyun said.”I call Mister Micky’s head!”

Krystal was the one to laugh this time, and Micky held his head gingerly.

“Eww!” Tiffany said.

“I help!” Ryeowook said.

“Me too.” Kouchi said happily.

At least they don’t mean to be such a trouble. Kangta thought.

***

“Achoo.” Sung Neul sneezed.

“Oh, gwenchanayo?” Sungmin asked.

“Mm, neh, must be the air.” She said scrunching up her nose. Sungmin laughed.

“Sure it is.” He said.

***

It was the end of school and the kindergarteners were packing up and parents were starting to come and pick up their kids.

“Umma!” Luna shouted. Victoria turned her head and picked up her daughter.

“Umma, there was a scary man at lunch today.” Luna said with wide eyes. Victoria laughed.

“A scary man? How scary was he?” She asked. Luna thought for a moment.

“This scary!” She said as she raised her arms in the air.

“Key oppa, over here!” Amber shouted. Minho was helping Taemin put on his back pack as Key walked over to his younger siblings.

“Hyung, our teachers say they need help cuz they gonna get their heads cut off.” Taemin said solemnly. Minho and Amber nodded in agreement.

“Eh?” Key said.”Are you guys okay?”

“Appa, can you help my teachers? They got yelled by a evil man and they need a body guard to protect their nice heads.” Sulli said. Siwon frowned.

“They have nice heads?” He asked.

“Don’t listen to her Appa, she’s gone nuts.” Heechul said.

“Yah!”

“Umma!” Tiffany said as she ran to Sunny. She picked up the distraught five year old, Jessica slowly followed afterwards.

“Umma, there-there was th-this man who almost cut my-my-“ Tiffany tried to say.

“Spit it out mushroom.” Jessica said.

“My teachers are gonna die!” She said.

“Omo, die?” Sunny asked. Sooyoung heard this and immediately went over to fix the whole misunderstanding.

“Oh, that’s terrible. I’m free during every other weekday so I’ll be able to help if you need me.” Sunny offered.

“That’s not really necessary.” Sooyoung said.

“No, it’s perfectly alright.” She said smiling.”And I want to make sure my Fany and Sica are being good at school.”

“Noona! Watch your head!” Changmin shouted. Sung Neul frowned and put a hand on her head.

“Eh? Gwenchana?” She asked. Changmin ran, then tripped, and ran towards Sung Neul.

“You need to help my teachers from getting chopped!” He said.

“Chopped? Don’t you mean fired?” She said.

“That too! You have to help them noona.” Changmin said.

“Eh?! Waeyo?”

“Because the evil guy is gonna chop them and set them on fire and eat them for dinner!” He sad exasperated. Sungmin chuckled and went to look for Kouchi.

“But you know I have college and—“

“Unnie, please?” Kouchi pleaded.”I like school.”

How can I say no to that? Sung Neul thought miserably. Sungmin picked up Kouchi and sported a cute grin.

“I can help, too.” Sungmin said.

“Hwa, Chinja oppa?” Kouchi asked excitedly.

“Neh, so how about it Sung Neul sshi?” He asked. She looked them all in the eye and she sighed.

“Well alright.” Sung Neul.”But only on certain days, araso?”

“Araso!” Changmin said happily.”Now no one will get set on fire.”

"Just so we're clear, none of us are going to get set on fire." Hyoyeon announced.

"What about your heads?" Kibum asked.

"That too."

"Aww."

Chapter 10
Sungmin's Inner Child

Much to Sung Neul’s dismay, volunteering started the day after she unfairly agreed to do it. So anytime she didn’t have classes, she would have to drive over the Changmin’s kindergarten and help take care of the kids.

“We should carpool.” Sungmin said. Sung Neul frowned.

“Waeyo?”

“I dunno, it just seems that you don’t really want to go.”He explained. “So to make sure that you do, we should carpool.”

Sung Neul’s head dropped at his sudden revelation. It’s true that she didn’t want to go, but it’s not because she feels her time is much too important to waste or that she disliked kids; but because she would rather spend time with Sungmin at the green courtyard. Usually, she was terrible when it came to boys, but whenever she talks with Sungmin, it comes naturally to her, and she liked it. So in other words, she was starting to have a liking towards him. Obviously she wasn’t about to let him know about that.

She looked towards Sungmin and sighed.

“I guess we can carpool.” She said. Sungmin’s eyes lit up, almost like a boy’s on Christmas morning.

“Good, we’ll take my car.” He said as he took Sung Neul by the hand.

“Wait!”

“Mwo?”

“It’s not time to go yet; we haven’t even started first period.” Sung Neul said.

“Aigoo.” He muttered to himself.

***

“Turn your books to page 23 and find the definitions for these words on the board. You have fifteen minutes to finish.” The teacher said. Sungmin started writing in his notebook, looking at the words and meanings, but not exactly processing them in his mind.

During all this, he was sure some people could tell that he was slightly distracted. Mostly he was thinking about how much time he’ll get to spend with Sung Neul at the kindergarten; that was pretty much the only reason why he volunteered. He liked talking to Sung Neul. She would listen intently and she wouldn’t be quick to judge what he’d say. She wasn’t narrow-minded like his parents. Anytime he tried to say something to them, they would always say that he needed to stop acting like a child and face reality. To a teenager, these were some pretty harsh words, but now that he looks at it, he’s sure they didn’t mean to hurt him; he thinks it’s because all that arguing made them bitter towards others, even close family members.

He would think about them all the time, wishing that they’d give it up already, but whenever Sungmin would look at Sung Neul, he would forget all about it. He would talk, laugh, tease; in fact, one would think the time he spent talking with her out totals the time he would talk to anyone in the past few years.

“Five more minutes.” The teacher announced. He blinked twice and started to work faster, thinking of what he’ll do after first period.

I wonder if we’ll have time for ice cream. He thought happily.

“Mr. Lee Sungmin, please wipe that ridiculous grin off your face.” She added. He heard snickers here and there from the room and pressed his face closer to his notebook.

My grin is not ridiculous. He thought childishly.

***

Sung Neul’s first class was finally over. She leaned back in her seat for a moment, and then remembered that she had to carpool with Sungmin to the kindergarten. Her next period was study hall, so she would be able to stay there for almost an hour. She swung her bag over her shoulder and walked into the busy halls. She walked over to the green courtyard and expected to meet Sungmin there.

***

He thought otherwise; Sungmin happened to be waiting at the parking lot while Sung Neul was waiting in the green courtyard.

I’d try calling her, but I don’t have her number. He thought anxiously. He started to pace back and forth, wondering where she could have been.

She still can’t be in class; we both have study hall for second period. He thought. And during study hall, we wouldn’t go to the library…

The green courtyard!

***

Meanwhile, Sung Neul was waiting at the bench in the green courtyard. She pursed her lips and wondered where Sungmin was.

Maybe he’s waiting for me where my first period class is? She thought. She got up and walked back to the entrance of the previous classroom.

By that time, Sungmin was already in the green courtyard.

She isn’t here. He thought sadly. I hope she didn’t run away.

“Omona! She did run away!” Sungmin said aloud. A flock of birds flew out from the tree behind him.

***

Sung Neul, on the other hand, looked back in forth in the hallways.

“Where is he?” She muttered to herself.

Maybe the parking lot? She thought as she walked to the back of the campus.

***

On Sungmin’s side of the planet, he sadly dragged his feet to the parking lot. He unlocked the door of his car and sat inside. He put the keys in the ignition(?) and backed out from the parking space.

Sung Neul wandered aimlessly in the parking lot, not knowing where she was going.

He left me, didn’t he? She thought upset. I could drive myself, but he seemed so set on carpooling.

She turned around and saw a car heading for her; but the reflection from the sun on the roof blinded her.
Sungmin stepped on the brakes and came to an abrupt stop. He saw Sung Neul rubbing her eyes and rolled down his window.

“What are you doing?” He shouted.

“Me? What are you doing? I was looking for you all over the campus.” She said walking up to his window. Sungmin banged his head against the steering wheel. Sung Neul frowned at looked at him worriedly.

“Are you okay?” She asked. He stopped banging his head and opened the passenger’s seat.

“Just get in the car.” He said softly. Sung Neul nodded, walked over to the other side of the car, and sat in the front passenger’s seat. Once she put her seatbelt on, Sungmin drove out of the parking lot and started to head out to the kindergarten.

“Are you hurt?” He asked. Sung Neul blinked and looked at him.

“Should I be?”

“Eh? I almost run you over and you’re not even the least bit shaken up?” Sungmin asked in shock. Sung Neul frowned.

“Can’t say that I am; but it looks like I should be asking you if you’re hurt from the way I see it.” She said. Sungmin quietly sulked as he steered to the right. Then he caught a glimpse of Sung Neul looking out the window and his expression softened.

I wonder what’s she’s thinking. He thought.

“So you were looking for me?” He asked.

“Neh, I was waiting in the green courtyard, where were you?” She asked.

“The parking lot, but I went over to the green courtyard and you weren’t there.”

“That’s because I started looking for you inside the school.”

“Oh… By that time I was already on my way to the kindergarten.” Sungmin mumbled sheepishly.

“Very thorough I see.” Sung Neul said suspiciously.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Nothing really.”

“I’m sure it meant something.” He said accusingly. Sung Neul laughed at his nonstop childishness.

With the way he’s acting, he’s almost as immature as Changmin. She thought to herself.

It’s kinda cute.
