Xalth couldn’t count how many times he was so glad he wasn’t a Brown or Bronze. He was just a Blue, and His wasn’t required to recall all the little details of what transpired at Trine Weyr. Trine... The blue huffed. Too hot, too limiting, too strange. It was a pleasure to be at home, even if it meant taking turns with His to watch the sky and go... Ugh. Even the thought of work was enough to make the blue dragon shift his position, his discomfort extending to his physical form.
Ugh. Even that didn’t help. The blue dragon rose and shook himself, checking on His for a moment (he was tucked away helping someone with something it seemed – better His than him!) before launching himself up and away from the ledge he was sunning himself upon. He rode the thermals, spiraling up and into the air before dipping his wings to dive back down, swooping into a neat landing at the lake’s edge. Ah! To fly without restriction felt so good!
Xalth’s eyes whirled a contented blue as he began to lap at the lake water, drinking in peace. For now.

All seemed quiet and peaceful at the lake, but if one was paying very close attention they might notice a small stream of bubbles coming to the surface every now and then. Things remained still and quiet for another few moments as Xalth drank, but then abruptly a large green dragon body launched itself out of the water, inadvertently sending a splash the blue's way. Yes! she exclaimed triumphantly to no one in particular. Her hide was quite a bit off color, but she seemed mighty pleased with herself over something...
It was then that bright blue eyes noticed the other dragon there at the lake. Hello there, she greeted pleasantly enough, breathing heavily as she made her way back onto dry land. I don't think I've seen you around here in quite some time. Where have you been? Hers had told her before about the group having gone to Trine, but her memory was to short to have remembered such a thing.

Xalth let out a draconic bugle of surprise, rearing up and flapping his wings at the sudden splash. His eyes whirled a yellow-red briefly, until the green made her appearance. Xalth's eyes then settled into a yellowish-green as he huffed in annoyance. Silly green!
Avoiding work, he replied sourly. Ugh! There was that thought again.

Avoiding work? she replied in surprise. Oh, I see. You must be one of those lazy ones then. Feh, how do you even hold your own in the wing? The question wasn't meant to be answered, and she stretched out her wings a bit in order to dry out and warm up in the sun. Hm, so where have you been 'avoiding work' then? Hiding in your weyr? At a nearby hold? Under a rock? Taith neither understood nor approved of skimping out on work. Laziness was not something that should be allowed or prompted in her mind.

Oh great. This green was one of 'those' dragons. Xalth felt himself tense up as she continued speaking. Uuuugh. What a kill joy! He scowled at her, lashing his tail. I was at Trine Weyr, he curtly replied back, If you want to know more, go ask Yours. Tch! Things would be so much simpler if more dragons would listen to Theirs. Why, even His had to order him to go elsewhere more than once, to his annoyance!
Besides, shouldn't this green be doing... well, green-things? Whatever females did.

Trine Weyr? Taith replied, interest immediately captured. Ignoring his suggestion to speak with Hers, she said, Isn't that one of the Weyrs where they hatch those runts? What were you doing there? When he didn't seem inclined to answer her, she added. Feline got your tongue? Come on, spill it. She wasn't about to let him off the hook so easily.

Xalth groaned inwardly. Great! Now he's done it! He turned away from her, annoyed. Ugh! Prattling, nagging green! Why couldn't she go bother someone else, like Jivith, or Yvoth? Why him?
The blue dragon stretched, turning his back to the green as he continued to ignore her.

The 'why him' was for very simple reasons. He was the one there, and he was the one who had opened his figurative mouth about Trine. And the green wasn't about to stop pestering him until her curiosity was satisfied. Which, unfortunately for him, might be a very long while. Not looking at me isn't going to make me disappear Between you know, she said, stepping up beside the blue and getting directly in his face. What were you doing in Trine Weyr? What did you see there? Were there a lot of runts about? Nope, poor Xalth would not be getting off so easy.

UGH! Xalth recoiled as she stepped in front of him, as if the very touch of her would infect him with the need and drive to go work. He was a free dragon, thank you very much!
The blue took a couple steps back, turning to try and retreat a different route. Go bother Galvanth, he replied to her, He quite liked all the little ones. Including the odd-colored ones.

Galvanth is likely busy, whereas you are clearly not, she replied breezily, following him as he attempted to retreat. Oh yes, there was a clutch there recently, right? Or two was it? Didn't someone die? Her memory was quite fuzzy on the matter, but she was still curious to hear more. She honestly couldn't figure out what this blue was being so stubborn about. It wasn't as if it was a difficult thing to hold a conversation.

Xalth's eyes whirled orange with irritation. She was right; he knew it and he didn't want to admit it. Who cares? he replied back sourly. They were there and they were all sorts of colors. In fact, they didn't seem to like us there after a bronze did what he was supposed to do. He snorted. I still do not see why you like orders when it ends up killing the mother of a clutch. Tch!

Taith snorted at the blue's argument. That's a bit unfair, don't you think? I seriously doubt there were any orders to kill a fellow dragon. And if there was then whoever issued such orders was clearly not right in the head. There had to have been more to the story than that. Oh well, she'd probably have to get that out of someone else since this particular dragon was being unendingly difficult.
