Opka had done it. He'd caught a hare and was now proudly show boating it around. Its limp dead body hung from his jaws as he paraded about with his kill. He was no on his way to the boulder his mother generally sat on to give his kill to her.
----
Bura sat upon her boulder tall and proud. There was no need to watch her puppies anymore now that they were grown. Maybe.. cept for Opka. Something was wrong with that boy. She had a feeling he came out not all the way there. Easy to control , sure, but a pain in the a**.
Her crimson eyes watched the land scape. Maybe he'd leave her alone for today and latch on to one of his siblings instead.

Opka weaved his way through the grass. He was not suttle at all with his tact and anyone watching the grass or if they had ears would notice the young and not quite bright pup approaching from miles away.
Opka didn't realize this and more importantly even if he did probably wouldn't care. He was not a thinker.. nor was he much of a doer. Opka was an Opka. And who the hell knows what that is. I don't think anyone really knows. I sure don't know what the hell an Opka is. I don't think anyone does.
Cept Opka probably.
-----
Bura groaned when to her horror she spotted the little short pup in the grass. His tail stuck up quite visually as he strutted to her rock. Oh dear lord. What could he want with her. Usually it was something pretty stupid. Ugh.
Her red eyes trained on him as he made his way to her boulder in an awkward fashion through the grass. Her least favorite pup of them all.
Bura called out to him before he had reached her.
"And what do I owe this displeasure of your visit?" Her tone was calm but her words were slicing.

Opka carried his rabbit like the dope he was. Proud of his kill that he would honor , or hopefully honor, his mother with. The jackal skipped along the path like a twit.
But then he stopped. His mothers words slicing through his little heart. Those little eyes grew as big as saucers and nearly teared up at the word used . Displeasure. You could be mental and that would still hurt like a stinger. But his thoughts never went deeper then the momentary hurt he felt. Opka was not a deep soul after all. He was just an Opka. Again.. what the hell is an Opka.
The male gently laid his prize to his mother down by his feet and looked up with wide eyes.
-------
Bura lifted a brow. She could tell her words had hit home and a large part of her was tempted to smile. The female kept her face featureless however. She wasn't about to stick the dagger in deeper in the already bleeding wound. That would have been way to easy for the female. Where was the challenge? Though she had been trying for some time to crush this boys spirit to make him go away.
"A kill .." She sounded quite bored with her monotone almost question. It was more of a statement. Opka had killed things before but it was not a regular thing. Infact it was quite rare for Opka to be the one to bring her something. Still Bura was not about to refuse his offering.
"Please do show boy," She sounded like a bored queen. This statement is not to far off from the truth.
"I .. I brought you a kill. I want you to have it." He whimpered some still a little sore in the heart from the razor sharp words Bura had used earlier. He was a little crushed after all. It showed on his face.

Opkas past heart break was soon forgotten. Mother was interested in something HE killed. The short little jackal puffed his chest out proudly as he approached the front of the boulder. The hare dangled from his teeth in a rag doll fashion swaying back and forth as he walked. Slowly the jackal lowered his head and released the prize from his jaws.
Fresh blood was still gushing from the teeth markings in the now past rabbit. The kill was fresh that was for sure. One could tell by the color of the red blood. It was a deep pooling dark color of crimson that poured from the wounds in a fluid like manner. There was no clotting to be found. Opka , it seemed , had found this hare some where close.
He stood in front of the hare and gave his mother a smile. His ivory daggers of fangs were stained red from the hares blood. He had been the one to kill this hare. Opka was pleased.
-----
Not just Opka was pleased but so was Bura. She couldn't believe that Opka had been the one to bring her something back. Still her face remained cemented in place. Not even her crimson eyes told the story happening behind them .
"Very good," Was all she said before hopping down from her boulder to do some further inspecting of the specimen. She nosed at the hares limp body really taking in the scent trying to find any traces of disease or aging. She even checked for other predators scents in case this had been a stolen kill. Which she still would be proud of if Opka had some how managed to out smart a bigger predator or another jackal.
Finally she lifted up her head, her nose now caked in the creatures blood. There was no sign of expression on her face, however. It was hard to tell what Bura was thinking. But she had not found any traces of disease or aging or even a trace of another predator. This kill had been all Opka.
Bura was pleased for once.
"Very very good."

Opka clicked his front paw heals together like a good soldier to the praise. Bura was proud of him. That was all that mattered to him in the whole wide world. He had done something right it seemed and now he was being told how good he was.
A smile rested on his maw from ear to ear. He was pleased. So very pleased.
-----
Bura knew her idiot of a son was pleased. Every dog had his day after all and it seemed that Opka was able to have his as well as any old dog.
But now she was , yet again, growing tired of that goofy face that was her son. She wanted to enjoy the treat on her boulder with out his goofy a** staring at her.
"Why don't you try to catch another.." Her voice was quite dry but there was a hint of annoyance that she knew Opka probably would not pick up on. Bura , how ever, wouldn't give a flying frick even if he did. She just wanted to enjoy her meal.
-----
Opkas face lite up some. Bura wanted him to find more???
"Sure sure!" He play bowed to her his tail going about a million miles an hour. "I'll go find something good! I will!" He took off in some random direction.
---
Bura was sure that would only keep him busy for a short time. The jackal grabbed the freshly killed hare and dragged its limp body up to her boulder. There she enjoyed a nice quite meal.
Opka still was her least favorite pup though.
