I really hate it when people call them selves a "Vkei Fan"
when they only listen to The GazettE and Dir en Grey, For one Dir en grey really isn't Vkei anymore.
I mean come on, it's like one band that is some what Vkei, and there like 5 million other bands out there that i find way better than both of them, This is just my Opinion, so don't take this personally, But iv met a few people like this.
It's just really annoying.

So... it's annoying when you see people that claim to like Visual Kei, but only listen to those two bands right?

I just wanna be clear before I start spewing my opinion...

Ok then, I get when you're coming from. I tend to ask other so-called "visual kei" fans about their favorite bands & I either get "I totally love Maximum The Hormone & An Cafe" ((or any two bands that are not similar in any way.)), "I don't care for the music, I just like the clothes" or "what's visual kei?". Those are the ones that really grinds my gears.

Yea that to is very annoying.
Or the ones that are in it for the Fan service, and not the music. Because really It's like 90% about the music.

Oh gawd... the fan service crap is annoying. I think that's the same with An Cafe ((even though they aren't Vis. Kei)), Girugamesh ((they have a few more fans now because of the retarded meme)) & a few other bands.

Honestly, I hate to say it, but Visual Kei is going down the drain. There aren't any more great bands anymore since the five great ones ((X Japan, Malice Mizer, Dir en Grey, Buck Tick & Luna Sea)) either disbanded or dropped the V.K. look altogether. ((In X Japan's case, they did both... sorta))

Well there still are some Good Vkei bands, I mean NoGod has gone major and they still are in costume which is surprising, and there first album was pretty amazing, Most of the bands i find are more underground, so a lot of there stuff are harder to get a hold of, But most of the underground ground bands are really good.
But i have been listening to a lot of none Vkei bands, Such as Thousand Leaves. Still Japanese, But just metal, or symphonic metal.

i have to agree with the fact what you are saying about that. beside their are more bands out their to be discover.

People like that get on my nerves quick. Must be the music elitist talking from the inside of me.
I never really got the point of fanservice, all I know is that it makes some girls really crazy happy. And it's all they discuss! Dammit, can't you talk about the new song or something, and not how Ruki licked the microphone in Guren? That was in 2008, get on track. >8( /miniature rant

I generally hate the fangirls/fanboys in general. They make us normal fans seem bad! But I guess, wherever you go, there are fangirls/fanboys mucking it up in any music genre. :c Now, I don't mind it when new fans of VK come up and ask for suggestions based on bands like The GazettE and Dir en grey. Sending someone with a good music recommendation is the key gaining a smarter member of the Visual Kei community/fandom.

I have to agree with Kurenai_Akari, Visual Kei has been on the downfall lately, since the loss of the Big Five. (Okay, so, X Japan is back. But not really visual anymore. But I can understand that they are all in their 40's at least, so no more "palm tree" hairstyles and glam rock makeup style.)
Really though, the whole "neo-visual kei" thing itself is falling apart, rarely does a band actually make it to a major label, and still keep going strongly.

I've been slowly leaving Visual Kei myself, and only taking a few bands with me. I've been on the hunt for new beats and bands, so I figure it's time to go back to my roots in metal, and see what's been going on there.

I hate the rabid fangirls ((I haven't seen/met a fanboy, but from what I hear they are the worst)) & I gotta agree with you those kinda fans give the normal fans a horrible reputation. If I meet a Vis. Kei fan, cool; if said fan is giving me s**t because Dir en Grey & X Japan went mainstream, blood will be shed.

Ever since Miyavi coined into the "Neo-Visual Kei" nonsense, I feel that "Neo Vis. Kei" just... I dunno, it dumbed down the genre as a whole. Also, having bands split up does not help the genre ((i.e. Dehluhi [one of the only recent V.K. bands that interest me)), it just helps the downturn of it.

As for what I'm keeping track of as of now, I'm just keeping my eyes on X Japan & Dir en Grey since both of them are on tour during the later half of the year.

I'm shying away from V.K. just a tad bit, but Ken Hirai is earning a place in my heart even though he's more of a R & B type of dude; along with looking into Dragonland for American Metal.
