It had been some tie since Solstice had been able to get out of the house. The coming of her egg and now young child having been an unplanned joy for her. She now sat out in the small glade that attached itself to the forest near her home, Cassie playing in the water of a small creek. The young Faefox smiled and curled her tail around her body as she watched her daughter playing. She was so carefree, so lacking in woes. The female sighed, looking back and up at the sky above her, it was still too early to see the stars, but she knew they were there, knew they watched her and that was a comfort to her. Cassiopeia splashed the water into the air, she rolling about, her fur soaked through as she giggled and played, she watched her mother from time to time, trying to get the water to reach her. "Mommy!! come swim with me!! Come come!!" She bounced up and down.

Polaris walked along the path that led to his sisters house, whistling to himself as he went. He hadn't seen Solstice in several weeks, and upon realizing this, decided it was time to remedy the situation. Since he hadn't heard anything from her in that time, he had no clue of the egg, of the child now playing in the water... As he walked up he saw his sister, and broke into a grin. "Solstice!" he called out, waving, as he changed direction to head towards her, not yet having noticed Cassie.

The young female turned her head to the sound of that voice, she seeing her brother she smiled and waved him over. "Polaris!" She oved to her feet and ran toward him, leaping into this arms and hugging him tightly. "Brother, I thought you would never coe and see me. It has been so long." She smiled and lead him over to the stream. "Tell me of how you have been...please...I missed you.." She watched her daughter playing there. "But..oh....you have yet to meet Cassie..." She motioned to the girl in the water. "Your niece."

Polaris laughed and caught her in his arms, swinging her around to set her down right where he'd picked her up. "I've missed you too, Solstice. But why haven't you been around town? It's never been this long without us running into each other." He left one arm around her as he followed her over towards the stream. "I've been doing well, I met a cute young faefox... She seems a little more interested in her pet squirrels than in me, so I don't know if it's going to turn into anything," he finished with a self-deprecating grin. And then she mentioned her daughter. "Cassie...?" He turned to look, noticing the little girl just as his sister dropped her bombshell. "My... my what? Since when do I have a niece?!" he asked, surprised.

"Since...since her birth, my brother. I...was stupid, feeling sorry for myself and there was this, gorgeous fae...he...spoke lovely words and..well" She shook her head, blushing slighlty and taking a seat on the grass, she motioning for her daughter to come to her. "She is a blessing, really...I really don't have much skill with men.." She laughed.
Cassie watched her mother and laughed, she running over to her and tackling her to her back on the grass. "Momma...who's this?" She cocked her head at the male standing there, she sitting on her mother's stomach, the fox looked like them. "Who are you mister?"

He rested one paw on her head. "Solstice, you should be more careful... at least let me meet any suitors you have. I'm sure the right guy is out there for you, but you should be sure before going far enough to result in an egg."
When Cassie bowled her mom over, he knelt down beside the two, laughing lightly. His paw slid down to his sister's back, and he offered his other paw to his niece. "Hi there. I'm your uncle Polaris, your mom's brother. How are you doing, pretty little lady?"

The young little fox blinked at the man and turned her head to the side. "You is Mommy's brother? I don't have a brother, I haves a sister, but she is gone now, yes." She smirked and took the hand looking at it to see if there was anything for her. "Are you going to live with us?"
Solstice coughed and blinked at her daughter, she laughing and shaking her head. "Cassie...Polaris has a nice home of his own to live in, he does not need to live with us...and besides, if he did I would be giving him your room." She smiled and grabbed her daughter, tickling her lightly. "I will not be so stupid again brother, I promise, but...at least I have this little angel to keep me company."

He laughed and pulled them both into a tight hug. "Well, then the experience was worth it, sister. She's truly adorable." He planted a quick kiss on Cassie's forhead, then picked up his niece, standing so he could spin her around. "I won't be stealing your room, you don't have to worry there. So, little one, what would you like to do with your uncle?"

Cassie let out a loud squeel as her uncle lifted her into his arms, her tail flinging out behind her as he spun her. "I..!!!" She giggled as she was was held. "What do you normally do?" She cocked her head to the side. "Mommy and I were swimming. I would like to go swimming more." She laughed and squirmed abit in his arms. "Do Uncles swim?"
Solstice took the hug from her brother and then rested on the grass once ore, watching hi with her daughter. "You are good with children, Polaris...She has not screamed yet, and she has not puked, I call it good." She chuckled.

"Well, this uncle certainly swims," he replied with a grin. Still carrying her, her jogged down to the water, wading in until it was around his waist. Then he took an exaggerated breath, all the warning Cassie got, and fell backwards into the water. Since he'd been still carrying her, she'd get thoroughly dunked, although he sat up quickly enough that even if she hadn't taken a breath, she'd be fine.
He glanced over at his sister, shaking water out of his hair, laughing a bit. "Oh, come now, sister. Surely she doesn't cause such trouble often. She's such a cute kid."

The young child squeeled and fell back into the water with her uncle, her hair and fur getting fully drenched, she squirming abit as they surfaced, she giggling whole-heartedly. "Eww!! I is dripping now, uncle made me get all drippy!!" She giggled and shook her hair out, splashing water all over Polaris.
The female smiled and shrugged. "She does not cause such trouble all the time, but she can be excitable, but she does seem to love you...normally she is much more quiet around men..." She sighed and lowered her head, she pulling her legs up to her chest, her hair covering alot of her face.

Polaris noticed his sister's pensive mood, but as he was busy getting to know his niece, there really wasn't much he could do at the moment. So instead he continued playing with Cassie, drenching her a few more times, and teaching her a couple tricks that allowed her to thoroughly drench him in return. Finally, laughing, he climbed out of the river, leaving her to practice the different ways to make big splashes. He climbed the bank to sit next to his sister and slipped one arm around her, pulling her close to him, and just held her for a moment, getting her a bit wet. Finally he kissed the top of her head, and quietly asked, "What's wrong, Sol?"

Solstice looked other brother as he wrapped an arm around her, she sighing and resting her head on his shoulder. "You are the first male she has talked to...the first she hasn't hidden from...I guess...it doesn't help that she doesn't really have a father...or...one that she actually sees. I guess that is my fault...isn't it?" She watched her daughter, making large waves with her fists. She smiling. "She likes to impress you..."

He hugged her tightly. "Well, we can't be having that, now can we... I'll have to come by more often, and maybe bring some friends for her to meet, as well." He rested his cheek against Solstice's hair. "Sis... You know I'm always here for you, right? For her, too. You should have come to me right away, I would have torn that creep to shreds for hurting you."

"It isn't all his fault, Polaris...I was vulnerable..and..." She let out a sigh. "Cassie doesn't know any of this..and won't...so..I am just hoping that at some point...she will have someone she can call father...you know?" She looked at him. "but..I should not be talking about all of this so much...you need to tell me about things...it has been so long..please...what have you been doing, my brother...?"
