Coeur glared at the god before her, her white eyes gleaming with hatred. "I've met one of your kind before. She approached him with a low, hunting stance, her shoulders rolling and her claws extended and digging into the dirt. Her lip pulled back into a snarl and the tip of her tail flicked in agitation.
You see, the last god she'd met knocked her up with three kids. She hadn't wanted to get pregnant, nono, the lioness considered it a curse by the divine. All she had wanted was a night with the suave and ebony male that charmed her. Hell, she figured if anyone was taking advantage of anyone else, it'd be her of him. But nooooo. A few months later and POP. Three little cubs underfoot. She hated kids. Every last one of them. Her own were no exception. But she wouldn't let them die of starvation or get stolen by whoever. No, they would die on her terms. Or she'd trade them for a good meal… or anything, really.'Oohhhh godddd…' Fleance groaned as he stepped backwards and away from some crazy lioness he'd had the misfortune of stumbling upon without his mortal guise. Just when he was feeling a little more comfortable in this world and didn't wear it all day every day BAM - GOD HATER HELLO. He didn't know what her problem was with the divine, but it seemed plenty of mortals had their god-complexes or what have you. She was one of them.
"You know, we're not all the same. I haven't done anything to you, lady. I've never even met you!" In this lifetime. He groaned and grimaced some more as she continued creeping towards him."You're close enough!" She snarled and snapped in his direction. She had to exact her revenge on some divine, and he was one. And he was awfully wimpy, by the looks of him. Little Chayah watched with fear and trepidation. She had to follow her insane mother wherever she went, or else she'd be punished- so she stuck close. But not too close. That was cause for punishment too. Her brother was good at staying out of trouble, too, but her big sister Pur was an absolute magnet for her mother's wrath. But instead of Coeur yelling at Pur'Coeur, she looked like she was about to kill this big guy. The little black cub hid in the grass, still somewhat visible to anyone tall enough to see over, but her form was hard to distinguish in the dark light. Coeur had been moving her litter for seemingly no reason. She just did what she wanted and the babies were forced to follow. And it was only at night that she discovered this big… What did Coeur call him? A god?
Chayah had never met a god before! But she also had no idea that her father was a god, either. Coeur never spoke of their father, and when Pur ever asked, she'd get a swift bat and many unpleasant looks brought upon all of the siblings.

Fleance had no idea, either, that Coeur's rage was fueled by a one-night stand. And it wouldn't really have made sense to him if that was why, either. He'd had a fling with a mortal female, and he kept the cubs. For their own safety, he reasoned with himself. Had he known why she was upset it probably would have been more clear for him, what with her encounter ending with three kids and a deadbeat dad. Of course, things would have also made much more sense if he'd known she was out of her mind.
"Not really, actually." He kept trying to stall for time, but he had no idea where she was herding him, and he didn't dare turn his head to look back and check. That would only be an open invitation to her attacking him. He didn't know he was getting closer and closer to stepping on one of Coeur's babies, either. The fear in his eyes was more than apparent, and the craze reflected in Coeur's was evident as well. Coeur launched herself at the god, having justified to herself that he was wrong and she was right- because she is always right. She had known where she left her kids, but forgotten and unwittingly steered Fleance in their direction, but even then, she couldn't care. If he did something to them, that'd be her cubs out of her way and justification to kill him, right? The god side-stepped and turned on his heels, but did not return the offensive maneuver. "I don't know why we can't just talk this out. Maybe I can point you in the direction of the god that seemed to wrong you?" He tilted his head and offered a smile when he stepped backwards onto something small and squishy and fluffy, but he didn't put his full weight on the object before he leapt forward - towards Coeur - to get off of it. He looked to see what it had been, and he saw a little black cub, her paws over her head, and her face hidden, though he could hear small whimpers of pain escaping from her.
Aw shi-
This was probably one of that crazy lioness'. That could be why she's crazy! Well, maybe not. It was still a pretty vague generalization.

Chayah got smushed by Fleance's big back paw- but thankfully his ashy-god powers didn't turn living animals into that fiery dust- she was just coated with a fine layer of it. She bit her tongue to keep from crying out - Coeur didn't like whiners either - but she did whimper a little. Hopefully Momma wouldn't notice.
Oh yeah, calling her Momma would piss her off, too. She looked up at the god with big, teary eyes, and didn't speak."OH, SO NOW YOU'RE ATTACKING MY CUBS, EH?" Coeur hollered at the god when she'd seen him step on the black cub she had. An excuse! And an opening!
She leapt forward again with her claws extended and her fangs bared and went for the soft and fluffy vulnerable neck of Fleance. But! At that moment he remembered he was a God (but not a great one) and teleported away, Coeur missing by a hair's breath, and actually falling onto her cub. Chayah was smushed again but by her mother and the sound she made was an "Aumhpppppphhh" - that is, a quick release of air and the general sound one makes when smushed. She lay still - her mother unsure if she was dead or alive - but it was the better alternative to whining and crying and wiggling. Coeur lifted herself off of her cub and glared at it. She was pissed the male had gotten away, and pissed at the one that had gotten away with knocking her up. "God damn it. I hate you." The end. 1,160 words.
