We all know this guild exists for the sole purpose of bitching that today's cartoons suck. Which many of them do. So, if you got hired by a television station to make a new children's cartoon, what would you do differently? What kind of animation would you use? Would you want comedy or drama?
For starters... I would have a gender neutral show with a female lead. Seriously. Why is it pretty much every gender neutral children's cartoon has a male lead? Why are women expected to relate to male characters, but men aren't expected to relate to female characters? It's not fair. crying I really hated that when I was a kid, I didn't like the TV cartoons about the average teenage girl doing average teenage things and obsessing over clothes, I wasn't really into fashion then. I was, and still sort of am, the kind of person who prefers characters similar to myself, so as a child I preferred female characters. Since I wasn't girly, though, it was a bit tough to find tough female characters who weren't super butch and weren't just following the male hero around and nagging him. (this is part of the reason I'm exited for Avatar: The Legend of Korra to come out ninja )
I'd make it a fantasy adventure type of story, full of known mythical creatures, some obscure ones, as well as some made-up ones. They have to go on some quest, maybe I'd base it on a story I made up about some people trying to find seven artifacts of power so they can locate the eigth one (which can grant one wish and one wish only, and it can be ANYTHING except wishing for more wishes) and destroy it so it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Alternatively, I'd like to make a story that takes place in a fantasy world based off Africa, and everything there is based of real life African cultures. I think it would be pretty unique, how often do you see African inspired things in mainstream media? Another idea involves extinct animals, but it's not really thought up much yet.
Animation, I'd kind of want an anime-esque style, since it's pretty pleasing to the eye and I love the way it looks. Some of my favorite shows growing up were anime, and I loved manga as well.
The writing and genre... It'd be kind of an action show, but with jokes thrown in. When you have a lot of younger characters, they're not gonna be srs bsness all the time. Just sayin', that's kind of annoying.

XD Yeah, I'm thinking of creating a comic based off the Africa concept... Hard part is the research. In my World History class we skipped every chapter that wasn't about Europe, so that was a bust, and I couldn't find many books in my school library. Maybe I'll go to the regular library, and I think the museum has some exhibits...
