Damascus felt like he was soaring, a freeing joyful feeling that occasionally enveloped all of his senses when he was running. When he hit a pinnacle of speed, mixed with a grace and strength that propelled him ever higher, ever faster towards..towards no end..perpetual endless running to nowhere. Yet still damascus loved it, was addicted in a way, and nothing short of the world ending could ever stop him from enjoying that feeling.
Large head held high, his dark red eyes gleaming slightly, the lionesque-dog hart taking on a slight skid to slow his wild speed. Bits of dirt and grass going up in a puff of dust, as Damascus brought himself down from his high and ended his little chase for the day. Eyes for the moment glued to the skys above..At times he wondered, how lonely were they all? How long would he run..where were his..family? Siblings? He rarely questioned his few connections, his rare friendships, but at time's he wondered at it all. Wondered at Apollo, like a father that one, a mentor, though he doubted they were related by blood. And his ever so elusive..self proclaimed siblings. Off on there own, he couldn't even remember the last time he'd seen them.
Growling at himself for crushing his own good mood, his gaze dropping back to the ground where it belonged, searching for what could be a proper place to take a nap..He missed his occasional naps, so warm.

Wildflowers, saturated grasses, and warm humidity clung to the air, as it lazily rolled by the beautiful meadow scenery. Twitters and calls of birds easily filled the air, along with the hush of greens, and bend of branches. A wave came over the sea of plant life, giving a luminous light sheen to give the epitome of a picture-esque sight.
Right in the center of it all was the grand bird that was rarely ever seen. His glorious form stood out without a second glass, body shining like the sun above. Feathers gleaming, and crown sparkling, the large bird graced Apollo listened, thought, and rested peacefully with the flora. Head tucked against his strong neck, the gold coin's black mask suffocated away the ruby's that lay beneath. In his mind, a library was sifting behind his eyes at the speed of light, each memory being processed as new questions were being answered and accessed. His past, present, and future. Not only his own, but those whom he'd encountered throughout his many years of living. Each one being analyzed and calculated. He could feel the pressure of the power that resided in his old comrade that lay not far off from him, but gave no stir or change to his position. Folded wings ruffled slightly as the wind licked along the sleek feathers, as well as the downy that lined his neck. His swan like resting posture gave a calm and serene appearance, though every nerve in his body was on edge; sensing all that encompassed the area and beyond.

A glint of light not far off caught Damascus's attention, a sunlight glimmer he was more then familiar with, knew as well as the back of his own paw even! Others would have mistaken it for the suns ray's, or maybe even light reflecting off of water, but Damascus knew it as those feathers, like silk and sunlight, like gems woven into flesh. That damned Apollo always sparkling about like the seventh wonder of the world. Damascus was glad to see it though, had questions for his winged friend, and hopefully Apollo would have the answers. The kind that would sooth and cure his curiosity for a time.
His paws in motion before his mind could catch up to him, taking him off in the direction of that sunlit glimmer. It was not long before he saw the delicately perched form of the great sun bird. Looking for all the world like a sleeping beauty, still as stone except for the occasional rustle of breeze blown feathers. Eyes ever closed, that calm presence permeating everything around him, an all encompassing halo of a presence that one had.
"So here is where I find you eh? The bird come down from his mountaintop, got too tired of being so close to the sun my friend!" Damascus barked jovially as he neared, slowly circling Apollo, hed always be a tad amazed at how wondrous his friend appeared sometimes.

Ah, so he had been spotted. Very well. A grin crooked on that hard exteriored mouth. It seemed that the fello fire manipulator was the only of his kind he saw around lately. What became of the other two canines? Their pressure had yet to be felt nearby. Were they still wandering afar? Indeed he had caught little snippets of their presence, but it had been faint, and fleeting. The twin bird like siblings had visited briefly, but only the timid of the couple, who in fact was searching for her second half. Even with peace coming back to the world, it seemed that the chaos still remained in remnants to his comrades.
At the approach of his ally, the bird did not change his posture, but left his upturned corners along his mouth to stay. Beak staying closed, as always, he replied in his deep smooth vocals, "I do enjoy seeing different sides of the world, my friend... And I'm sure the sun would not enjoy my constant presence battling it's own glorious appearance." he mused lightly, his dry humour most certainly not hitting.

"Oh you do? So there is something we share in common, though I would imagine you take your time seeing the world.." He wondered, how amazing was it to see the world from the sky? To view everything from a point where all that was unknown became vast, and all that was living became ant-like in comparison to everything else. He'd ask his friend some day, to see the world through his eyes, for now though he was quite content with the quick flashes he got from his wild runs.
"If the sun were a sentient thing, which I pray it isn't! I can just imagine the fight you two'd have over sharin' the spot light" Damascus laughed brightly, stopping his slow circle of the other to plop down where he was. A hefty puff of breath escaping him, all the grass making a small breeze as it were suddenly smushed beneath his thick furred weight. "So Apollo, enlighten me a bit if you will. On some things.." Damascus murred quietly unsure of how to go about asking such things. It was rare he sought..well..more then friendly company from his comrade. And it felt odd to go on blurting out 'Whered I come from!!' Apollo with all his elegance always seemed to know what to say and how to say it. Not a feather out of place, or word out of line. Even if his jokes were a bit dry..
