Bluebelle Babe
I like to keep my Aquariums clear of comments because they slow down the loading of tanks but I can't delete comments under my tanks in any of my accounts. Is anyone else having this problem? I hit the "Delete" button and the page just jumps but nothing happens.
Thank you for making me aware of this issue.
I tested it in Firefox and sure enough I can not delete comments (even with No-Script set to allow all)
I also tested it in Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. I AM able to delete comments using Google Chrome but NOT using IE. IE works the same as Firefox - it just jumps back up to the tope of the page.
For what it's worth IMO the effect of tank comments is negligible. I have seen a number of folks complaining about tank comments and saying they cause lag. They are technically correct that any additional information that has to download adds time. However the added time from tank comments is IMO insignificant.
I base this on the fact I am stuck on dial up internet. In any of the browsers it takes significantly longer to load a tank than when connected broadband with the same laptop. However, the comments section pops right up in about two seconds.
What I usually see in order is:
1. Comments section (with avis) very quickly.
2. A blank shell added at the top where the tank is going to be.
3.Tank and water load
4. Tank populates with fish and eventually gets around to the booty grab game (except in IE - haha!)
The speed of the whole tank loading varies from about 20 seconds to well over a minute depending on how fast the connection is running and what else I have open. Even on the slow end the tank comments load very quickly. My opinion is they make very little difference for people on dial up and virtually no difference for users with fast internet connections.
This is why I don't bother to delete my tank comments. Still, I would like to see Gaia add an option to delete multiple or all tank comments the way you can with PMs in your inbox.
