“Mirror, mirror on the wall, are you the one to show my fall?” Cody muttered as he passed by a run-down and rotting hall of mirrors. A soft sigh escaped him at the sight of the carnival and, out of the blue, violently punched the rotting wall. “Of course that b***h would do that. When I-Ow... did I-get my hands on that-just punch that?-Conniving b***h, I’ll kill him,” Cody growled, voice tone changing drastically between the two thoughts and alternating sentences.
“Whatever. He’ll wish he had never rallied against me. At least-What the ******** you looking at b***h?” he snapped at a random group of people that were staring curiously at him. At his snarling they instantly scattered, moving as far away as possible from the strange demonic-looking kid. Idiots... Wait, why were they running? Did he do something? Shaking his head irritably, Cody glanced in at the hall of mirrors. “Hrm... Looks fun...” he muttered softly to himself.

Luska didn't know how this had happened. But she had gotten lost wandering around the hall of mirrors. Turning this way and that at every chance she could take, the girl even accidentally walked into a wall because she wasn't paying any attention. "Oww. Oww. Owwww!!!" Luska cried out. "Momm--" She stopped before finishing. Rein wasn't with her. She huffed after recalling what had happened moments ago.
"Look, look! It's a carnival!" Luska exclaims with excitement as she dragged her guardian over towards the entrance though it didn't seem like Rein would budge at all. She continued to tug on the woman's hand with a little bite of force. "Let's go in. Pleeeeassseee?!"
"Uh. I don't really think we should go in...." Rein muttered. The carnival didn't exactly give her a good vibe. Perhaps it's because the clown head placed near the entrance was giving her a menacing look. Not only that, Rein wouldn't be surprised if there were escaped criminals working here. 'Cause...that's what they do when they escape from prison right? "Ugh..." Yeah. Rein definitely didn't want to go in there. "Luska, we are going home." She replied firmly. The woman turned around to leave but stopped when she felt her hand being let go.
Luska clutched her parasol with both hands while staring at the ground. "Mommy and Lulu never have fun anymore...." She replied in a soft tone. It was obvious Luska was upset. But she didn't know what she was more upset over; the fact that Rein didn't want to go to the carnival with her or the fact that Rein wouldn't give Luska what she wanted like she usually would.
"Lulu is going by herself then!" The girl yelled out before darting through the entrance. She ignored Rein when the woman called out her name. She ran around in a zigzag motion from one stand into another, trying to lose the woman that was chasing after her, not realizing what kind of commotion she was stirring up. Luska would be dragged back as soon as she was caught by the guardian.
Eventually finding the old hall of mirrors, she looked behind her and saw that Rein was busy apologizing to a man that Luska had accidentally pushed down while she was running around. The moment their eyes had met, Luska heard the woman call out to her again. Still, Luska continued to ignore her guardian and darted into the hall of mirrors.
Rein had seen her run in here. Though she wasn't sure if the woman actually went in. There had been a crowd of angry people around her and she had been busy apologizing to everyone. Even though it was really Luska's fault. But the moment Rein catches her, Luska knew that she would be dragged back and punished. "Lulu might as well have some fun..." She muttered to herself continuing to walk around until she spotted a really tall mirror. Tilting her head, she walked up to it and squeaked at the sight of her reflection with a horrified expression.
"Lulu looks fat! Lulu looks fat!!" Deciding that she did not like this place, Lulu turned around to exit the area and go back to Rein...only to run smack into another mirror. She fell back on her rump and stared at ground. First came the sniffles and then finally the tears and crying.

A soft crying reached Cody's ears as he leaned against the door frame to the hall of mirrors. Crying? In a carnival? Well, it wasn't his problem so what did he care? It was probably just another kid that got lost within their realms of warped reflections and unable to tell real from fake. Or got separated from their parent and ran into a mirror... Now THAT sounded amusing.
"I hope they're alright..." Cody muttered, glancing inside. What was he doing standing outside? He could go inside and help the poor person and lead them out. Having been in the strange place many many times, all the pathways and twists and turns had been memorized and imprinted in his brain. Before he knew it, his feet were leading the poor teen to the source of the sobs.
"Hey, you ok? You lost or something?" he asked softly, crouching down to her level. That's when he saw it, the dark blue hair and unique ears... "Wait, Luska?" he asked, blinking. She was younger than him and had these strange scaly coloration on her. "Come on, before you get dirty. Although I bet you could make even that appear pretty." It was true, though. She was rather pretty although not his style for he had Edes and the scar to prove it.

The sound of somebody approaching made Luska jump and she temporarily forgot why she was crying in the first place. Then the preteen looked around the area and started to cry again. Although this time, it consisted of more sniffles and hiccups. Her vision was blurred by her tears, so the moment Cody had asked if she was alright, Luska became startled and backed up in a brief state of panic, knocking into a mirror again.
"O-oww..." She shut her eyes tightly and rubbed at her eyes with her hands.
Luska looked back up again and stared at the older teen for a few seconds. "C-Cody...?" It looked like him. Sort of. The feathers were recognizable though, and she only knew one person with hair feathers that she admired so much. At the mention of looking pretty even while being covered in dust and dirt brought her spirits back up. She stood up from the floor and rubbed off the dirt and dust that collected on her clothes from knocking into mirrors and sitting on the floor for so long.
She picked up her parasol, checking to make sure it hadn't broken during the series of unfortunate events she had. Once she determined that it was fine, she left it closed and turned back once more to Cody.
"A-ah..." How awkward am embarrassing. Luska still cried a lot, but she didn't like to cry in front of her friends. "Lulu couldn't find her way out of here..." But then again, did she really want to leave now? She had wanted to earlier. But now that she had some company Luska felt less inclined to go back unless she wanted to face a very angry guardian.
"Why is Cody here...?"

A soft frown of worry accented Cody’s features as Luska knocked into the mirror and expressed pain from the event. “You sure you’re ok?” he asked worriedly, rising from a crouched position as she got up and dusted herself off. She had grown a lot from when he last met her, even gaining a few new features. Besides being older her skin had strange patches of gray scales and her one arm was covered in them. Weird... Guess nothing was for certain with genetics like the kind they had.
“I could lead you out, you know. I know this entire carnival rather well as well as this attraction,” he offered, glancing around at the dusty and warped mirrors. Some were cracked with veins running across the once mirror-like surface, further altering the reflection they showed while a couple of mirrors were shattered completely with only fragments remaining of their once reflective surface. “Why am I here? Well... I’m not entirely sure really,” he muttered, confusion evident in his voice.
That’s when his eyes fell upon the beautiful flower clip in her hair. It sparkled and shone like a gem in the dim lighting, capturing his attention far more than the girl herself. “Who the h-Luska? What in the world are YOU doing here?” Cody asked, blinking a couple times. His entire demeanor shifted, becoming far more aggressive and gaining an almost sly look to it. How in the seven hells did he end up in the hall of mirrors? “Ugh, whatever. This day just keeps getting weirder and weirder,” the teen muttered under his breath, pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers irritably.

"Lulu's fine." So maybe her back was still a little sore, but that didn't matter right now. She smiled at Cody's offer of help. "Is the exit different from the entrance? Lulu will have to go back home once she gets caught." Inevitably, she'll have to go back home. But why not have a little fun if Luska has the chance?
However, the sudden change in Cody startled and confused the girl once more, causing Luska to shrink back a little. "U-uh..." Did he just forget what happened only a few moments ago? "Told you already, Lulu got lost here," Her smile was now replaced with a worried expression. "And Cody was going to show Lulu out of here. Did he forget? Is Cody alright?"
Her shoulders sagged a little and she wondered if perhaps Cody decided to change his mind. "Is Cody still going to help Lulu...?"

Cody blinked a couple of times, staring curiously at the girl. He had promised to lead her out of the place? There was no memory of the event yet again, much like so many other times and unlike his earlier years it wasn't fuzzy and choppy to the point of being unrecognizable. Guess he had forgotten what had transpired only moments ago yet again. At least he wasn't doing something humiliating like helping someone cross the street for free or giving money to some hobo. Luska was at least a friend and his promise was a rather simple one so it was alright. Leading her out was simple and painless and even more so when he suspected she was hiding from her guardian.
"Yeah, I'm fine and I guess I did forget. I seem to be doing that more and more often these days though," Cody finally replied, sounding fairly irritated at that. He hated, absolutely HATED finding himself somewhere or doing something with no recollection as to why or how. Or anything else between the two times anyways. "Eh, whatever, I'll still show you out. Which way did you want to leave through? I assume you ran into this rickety shack to hide from someone, correct?" he questioned. It was painfully obvious since fancy little girls didn't just run into moldy old buildings for no reason whatsoever other than to hide... Right? Ugh. Girls confused him so much some days.

Was it really possible for people to forget something that had only been discussed over a few moments ago? Well, thinking over, Luska decided it was possible. She tends to forget some of the lectures she was given whenever the spawn got into trouble. Cody said he was fine, so Luska should shrug it off for now.
"If it's not near the entrance, then any exit is fine. Originally, Lulu came in here to hide. But then she saw the mirrors and how they made her look fat." She already looked abnormal enough. Getting shapely in all of the wrong places did not please her one bit. And because there were all sorts of odd mirrors everywhere, everywhere Luska would turn, there would be some sort of distorted image of her.
"Anyway, please, let's just get out of here."

Cody glanced at the warped mirrors, a vague memory of himself split in half with the strangest of features on each side and yet still remaining himself reflected back for a moment. Needless to say, it startled him a bit and nearly caused him to shudder as he turned to head out the way he had come in at. Luska hadn't gone in that way so it had to be safe, right?
"That's what they're supposed to do Luska. They're supposed to warp your image and supposedly it was really funny way back when," he replied softly, unable to erase the memory of his distorted image. What if... what if he really-No. It was just to play tricks on his mind like the rest of the stupid place. "Uh... This way," he muttered, pausing before stepping right into a mirror. Within only a few turns and twists they were out into the world once more and free of the distorting mirrors.
Once out, he turned and blinked at how he was suddenly outside. Strange... Wasn't he just inside talking to Lulu? Oh well, nothing to fret about. He probably just let his mind wander and forgot what he had been doing. "So who exactly are you hiding from anyways?" Cody asked quietly, switching yet again from that darker and slightly insane voice and attitude to a kinder and more gentlemanly one. It was almost like a switch that refused to stay one way or another, indecisive and constantly switching...

"How can looking ugly in the mirror be fun?" Obviously, Luska didn't understand the entire concept no matter how many times it was explained. But she didn't want to dwell on that thought anymore because the moment Cody began leading the way, she dropped all thoughts about mirrors and quickly and closely followed. The faster she get out of the hall of useless mirrors, the better.
The moment she stepped outside of the building, Luska beamed happily. No more confusing halls that she can foolishly knock into or image distorting mirrors. "Thank you Cody!" The girl exclaims happily while swinging her parasol about. Though her excitement didn't stop her from noticing the change in the other spawn's voice. This one sounded a lot nicer, and one that Luska was more comfortable with.
"Lulu is hiding from her mom. We got into a argument," She answered, warily looking around to see if she caught a glimpse of the woman. "If Lulu gets caught, she'll be in big trouble and probably won't be seen again until many years later when everyone changes and looks older again!"

Cody chuckled at the explanation, not at all surprised by it. He had done the same thing many, many times before for numerous reasons of which not all were exactly... good. “I see. How about we head to the big tent over there? There’s a lot of places to hide,” he replied softly, pointing to a slightly torn and faded circus tent. It seemed to be abandoned for the most part with most people avoiding it completely.
“Say, Luska, have you seen the haunted house?” Cody suddenly asked, voice darkening a bit. Wait, when did he get outside? Strange... Memory was a fickle thing, constantly forgetting and never remembering. Even things that happened moments ago were up to be erased, taken away and leaving him floundering for an excuse.
“It’s on the far side of the carnival, though,” he added, pondering how many people would be there and on the different paths. Eh, he could take them. Most couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag anyways and knew he could. Probably why everyone stayed out of his way...

"Oh, the tent looks like a great place to hide" Luska smiled, really appreciating the other spawn's efforts to helping her.
"Huh? Haunted house? What about--" There it was again. Another unusual change in the teen. She wanted to say something else but Luska paused for a second and thought carefully. There would be absolute zero chance that Rein would ever step foot into a haunted house. The woman was an absolute chicken when it comes to things like these. So a haunted house might be an even better hiding spot than the abandoned tent.
"Haunted house sounds really good!" Looking back up towards Cody, expecting him to lead the way.

Cody grinned a dark, wicked smile. "Alright then, let's go," he replied, already heading down the practically unused path. Many avoided the paths directly, since they rarely led to their destination. Time after time the signs were changed, overwritten and changed again, sometimes being transported to an entirely new location before the path itself was dug up into a new one. At least, that's what he figured happened due to all the shovels laying around and fact that no one paid said signs any attention.
As they walked, Cody's green-blue eyes glanced around at the shadows of people lurking between the tents, staring back at them. "Ah, here's the haunted house. I do have to say one thing, don't go into the attic," he commented, pausing in front of a large, four story house that creaked in the slight breeze. Rotting wood hung off the frame, faded and warped with age and lack of care. Shattered window panes littered the sides and front, obscenities written on what little glass was left, keeping the paint relatively clean of spray paint.
"It's not as bad as it looks... Sorta." Cody just chuckled and walked up to the porch, walking around the small hole smack in the middle that looked as if several people had fallen through at one point. Despite this, he didn't seem concerned at all by the lack of support around it, nor the fact that there really wasn't a door on the house. Then again, he HAD deemed the house safe...
