Nightshade was munching on some fruits that had grown on a bush somewhere close to where she sleeps at night. You could call it a den, but it was just a patch of clovers under a tree. the fruits were just right, and very juicy. Nightshade giggled a little as Infested Soil, her mongoose companion, was eating a piece, letting the juice run freely over his pudgy cheeks.
After taking her fill, Nightshade went over to lie in the grass, where the sun shone warmly from in between the trees. Moonshine, her moth familiar, was also basking in the sunlight, her giant wings open in the ray's direction. All was quiet, but Nightshade could sense a few kimeti around her.

He moved slowly though the undergrowth, each step carefully measured and placed as though precision and finality were far more of the importance than speed. His ears flicked at the sounds of the morning and perked for a moment forward to see first, the little mongoose chewing fruit and then one ear flicked down examining the dark doe that lay there watching. He blinked slowly and took a few steps back from the trio he had found there.

Nightshade noticed the buck when he appeared from behind a hedge. His coat shocked her, with how very marvelous it was. Smiling at him, she noticed him taking a few steps back. "You don't have to go away. You can have this fruit too. It's actually rather delicious." It wasn't like she was going to hurt him. Any company was good to her.
Moving to the side, she made room for the buck, while keeping an eye on him. Soil, her mongoose, hopped up onto her back to see him better. Moonshine, Nightshade's giant moth companion, was still basking in the sunlight taking no notice to the things going on around her.

He paused where he stood then nodded his head slowly, deliberately.
"Thank you." He said after what seemed an age, his voice one of those rusty sounds like bark scraping against bark. It suited him in its own way as he stepped further into view.
"I have no wish to intrude." He added after a long moment in which he seemed to weigh each word carefully before he uttered it.

Nightshade smiled. "No intrusion, no worries. What's your name?" she asked, a moment after some thought. This was a very interesting buck. Very distant and worried about how what he was saying was going to affect people, thinking about every word as he said it.
Soil got off Nightshade's back and smiled up at the buck, juice still on his puffy cheeks. Giggling, Nightshade pulled him back to where he was, giving the buck space.
