AIM Log: Cajanic & _ p a o cx Meanlook was very content. After the great hunt she had with her mother, it felt like she could accomplish anything. She wanted everyone to know that she was a force to be reckoned with, even if it was only when it came to hunting. moving through the pack lands, she found herself a nice rock to sit on top of, the female springing up onto the long warm surface. Perfect for sunning herself.
She felt she deserved a bit of a treat after the hunt.
Smiling, she lied down on the rock, putting one paw over the other as she let her head rest on top of them. The pack was always so peaceful- she loved it.New! New! Everything was so new! The rocks, the trees, even the heat from the sun felt new from where she currently stood, and she took it all in with a giant, rather goofy looking smile spread wide across her face. What made it better was all the new pack members she could meet and make friends with. Ah, new things were really the best! Come to think of it, even her name was new.
"Petaldancer," she mused, then repeated her new name with a little giggle. "Fine by me, new things are great!" She padded along, exploring the new lands she now called her home, taking in the sights (though it all basically looked the same after a while) and committing them to memory so she wouldn't get lost later on. It was then that she spotted another lying atop a rock and, the smile getting even wider (if that was possible) she approached with a spring in her step.
"Hey!" she called, tail wagging as she made her way over. "Hey, what'cha doin'?"Blinking, Meanlook looked up from her rock, turning her head slightly towards the source of the noise. She soon came to see that it was another wild dog speaking to her, though not one she had ever seen before. She would remember someone so pink, for sure! The bright colors made her smile, her tail starting to sway back and forth happily before she even managed to get fully to her feet again.
"HI!" she replied cheerfully, tail flailing almost recklessly about in every direction, "I was just going to have a nap! But meeting someone new is just as good! What's your name, anymore? Are you a new member of the pack, or just passing through?"
She had a million other questions, but she tried to keep them bottled for the moment. She loved meeting new dogs! They're pretty lively, though sometimes not so much, but usually they were fun to be around. Felines were...fickle. She'd never run into someone as energetic as she was though, so this was nice too. She didn't cap her own excitement and instead moved bit closer to the other, tail waggling about behind her as though it had a mind of its own.
"I go by Petaldancer now," she answered, forcing herself to calm down so they could have a more civil conversation. It wasn't as easy as she thought it'd be, but somehow she managed and took a seat. "I'm a new member actually, so I was looking around to get familiar with the area."
She glanced around and took note of that particular spot (for future use more than anything else, since the rock she was sitting on now looked pretty comfy) and then turned her attention back to the other. "So who're you? I haven't really met anyone around here yet so officially you're the first! What's your name?""I'm glad to hear it!" Meanlook replied happily, "I'm Meanlook! But don't worry, really, I'm not really that mean!" She liked to assure others of that, even though it was usually fairly obvious before even getting to that moment. She didn't scream 'mean' in general, as much as her name might have suggested. Were she a cat, she probably would have been purring.
"It's always nice to meet new wild dogs! I hope you enjoy it here, too. If you need any help with anything, you should ask me! I'd be happy to tell you." IF she could. Sometimes she wasn't so great on the rules and such, even though she had lived there her whole life.

"Meanlook?" she giggled, the thought rather amusing since it didn't really seem to suit her. "If you say so though, I won't worry." She smiled cheerfully, her tail picking up pace again as it wagged on its own. Even if she was jumping all over the place you could easily tell she was still pretty giddy with excitement. And all over new things.. somehow childish, but she didn't really get that.
"Agreed!" she then exclaimed. "I didn't get to meet too many before I joined here though, so I'm happy that I'll be surrounded by so many other wild dogs from now on. Also, I definitely won't hesitate if I have questions!" What a good friend she'd made, and on her first day as a newly joined member too.
"So! My first question.." she started. Her tongue stuck out a little as she gave it a bit of thought. "Is... what happens if we don't call each other by our wolfnames?" It finally came out, and somehow just by the way she asked it seemed more like a statement than a question. "I mean...do we get kicked out or punished or something?"
"Well... you don't really use your soulname unless you're with someone who's very close to you! Like the one you love more than everyone else- your Recognized. Or your very best friend in the whole world, who would be considered your soul-sibling. Our soulnames are very, very personal and we don't share them lightly. Like, I just met you, so I wouldn't tell you my soulname! But if we were to become very close, I would!" Was she making any kind of sense?
"I don't know how punishments go for that kind of thing. We're not a pack who like to run things very strictly, you know? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too big a deal. But... don't take my word for it. I would just keep your soulname for someone special." She smiled and sat down, watching the other.
"Is there anything else I can try and answer for you?"
She made an 'o' shape with her lips when Meanlook answered her question, nodding her head as the other tried to explain it to her. So the name her parents gave her was only meant for someone special? "So I wouldn't tell you mine either huh?" she said, blinking as the idea sank in. It made sense, now that she really gave it some thought. She'd always liked her name, though she could easily get used to being called Petaldancer. "Well if that's how it works here then I'm totally alright with it. Makes sense too, thanks!"
She sat there in thought for a little while, but her mind was still too preoccupied with the soulnames business that she really couldn't come up with any other questions. Petaldancer laughed a little and looked at the other wild dog, goofy smile returning. "I can't think of anything right now, but I know I still have questions! They'll come out eventually, right? So for now.. how 'bout this. What do you do around here for fun?"
Right! She always wanted something fun to do in her spare time. If Meanlook had been around here for a while (and she only assumed that much since she didn't really ask..) then she would definitely know! The thought got her tail going again.
"Right," she hummed, "unless we got to be really good friends!" Or mates, she supposed, though that might be a little strange all things considered. Nothing against those who liked their own gender, she just... liked male bits. And making babies. Even if she hadn't actually made any babies just yet.
"No problem! I'm glad that you understand- I'm not great at making things... clear sometimes." Most of the time.
Pretty much all the time.
"Good! I'll be here if anything else comes up! As far as fun goes, I like to go for hunting practice. It's a lot of fun! And I get to keep my skills sharp, you know? but I guess there are plenty of good places for games, and a watering hole to splash around in. Plus other members to play with!"
Good friends. She'd always wanted a good friend. Not just good, best! A best friend would be nice, and she let the thought linger and got lost a little dreamworld of her own for a second. Then she remembered she had company and came to, smiling sheepishly at the other. "Sorry, I missed most of that.." she said with a pinkish tinge to her cheeks that looked almost natural as it blended with most of her markings already.
"But I did heart a watering hole and other members.. I need to meet more members!" and she stood up at that, deciding that she would go to the watering hole next in hopes of running into more members on her way there. She blinked a bit upon standing and turned her head one way, then another before looking back at Meanlook with that same sheepish look.
"I... don't know which way to go."

Meanlook laughed- she didn't mind that she had been ignored for the wild dog's own thoughts, as she was pretty sure she would be in the same state. When things are new and exciting, she couldn't help but let her own thoughts get the better of her, too. Who could stand there and just listen when there was just so much to take in all around? It seemed impossible!
Or maybe she was just a scatter-brain and it only happened to others every once in a while. Whatever.
Made her happy.
"That's alright," she laughed, "I can show you which way to go!" She hummed, jumping forward to take the lead, "Just follow me!" She darted over the grounds, heading towards one of the few watering holes in the pack lands.
She was glad that Meanlook didn't seem to mind that she'd drifted off into la-la land and, after the other had taken the lead as she didn't know the way, Petaldancer followed eagerly with her tail flailing about behind her. "Thanks!" she said gratefully and sped up a little bit so the two were walking side by side.
"For helping me out and everything." She was glad to have met someone as nice as Meanlook, whose name she still didn't think fit the female all that well, and that they hit it off pretty well. A new friend was always a good thing, after all. And with that in mind she got lost in her own world again. Just for a moment though. Only a moment.
"No problem!" Meanlook hummed as she walked with the other, happy that their new member was another nice wild dog- she didn't want anyone coming in who was cold or rude. Not that she thought that could ever really happen. Her parents would never allow it! Her mother, anyway.
It just wouldn't happen, no matter what.
She led the other to the watering hole, playing with her for a while before heading off to continue her hunting practices. Now that she had met someone new, she was too jazzed to go back to sleep. It was a good day! A good day to be in the Peke Na.
