It seemed that the book had been closed on the subject of Ambroise's 'marriage' for the time being. At the very least a marker had been placed so the topic could be discussed later if needed, but Grencia had fallen silent following a discussion with his son and had let it be. There was a chance that a few words had been exchanged between mother and father during the evening, but Ambroise remained unaware of this. He could be thankful for small favours at least and was fully prepared to take the opportunity to hunt for a suitable home.

Whether Grencia appreciated the arrangement or not, Ambroise had made his intentions clear and he did have a mate. It was his duty to provide for her in return for her company, this included finding her a suitable home and ensuring she settled in. He wouldn't be able to provide her with friends, she would have to explore and introduce herself in that respect.

...However, where did one put a mate?

It had been something that had puzzled him for quite some time and he had pondered over the issue far more than would have been considered necessary. At present she had specific requirements, she couldn't be expected to live on the peaks but with this in mind, he couldn't live on the foothills either. There had to be a happy medium between the two and unfortunately there were only a very limited number of locations to choose from. He could keep these in mind, but he had no guarantees that Elizabeth would appreciate them.

Sucking in a breath, he allowed his nostrils to flare and continued to observed the horizon and the lowlands that extended across it. It was early yet and he wasn't entirely certain of when this particular mare chose to rise, he could continue to dwell on the subject for a little longer at the very least. Perhaps by the time she awakened he would have a list she could pick from and a few persuasive arguments in relation to some of them too.

Just in case.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 05, 2010 12:54 pm

Unfortunately for Ambroise, the mare he had chosen to twine his life with was a mare naturally inclined towards early rising. During their journey, she had been sleeping much more heavily than she was used to, the direct result of physical exertion. Yesterday had been physically tiring as well, but the meeting of Ambroise's parents had been...well, it had been interesting.

And Elizabeth would be lying through her teeth if she said she hadn't been affected. Ambroise's parents had been very polite, very pleasant, but there had been no mistaking his father's upset. Regardless of her own sentiments or those of her friends (when they learned of this situation), she was most concerned with Ambroise. His satisfaction, his family's sentiments, THESE were what mattered to her. After all, she was used to ignoring her own thoughts.

Consequently, her sleep last night had been somewhat fitful, easily disturbed and less than refreshing as she mulled over the situation, hoping devoutly that any unease would eventually be overcome.

And the morning saw her wake shortly after dawn, somewhat less than refreshed, but certainly ready to embrace other thoughts. With a yawn and rapid succession of blinks, she looked around, noting that the sun was now up and that she could be, too. Stretching, she rose to her feet, then yawned again, fluffed her curls, and looked about for her mate.

Not that she meant to disturb him when she found him; her first thought was that he appeared busy, her second that she would leave him to it. She could find herself a drink and a bite on her own, she was certain!

Ever the patrolling borderguard, his ears swivelled immediately when he detected the scuffles and motions behind him. They were not the sounds of a creature moving in their sleep and as a consequence the male glanced round just a touch. It was enough of a gesture to catch the mare in his peripheral vision, but provided her with just enough privacy and consideration to ensure he didn't see her in a state of 'undress' so early in the morning. For all he knew, she could be an individual who much preferred to avoid being seen until she was made up!

"Good morning," he offered politely while his wings ruffled at his side. He gave his head an abrupt flick to shoo a piece of his forelock away from his eyes before he continued to talk. "I would hope that you slept well?"

It was polite conversation at best, Ambroise still had much to learn about a great deal of things. He was in essence starting from scratch and when it came to having a mate, his only point of reference were his parents and siblings. Unfortunately for him, not one of these relationships would be considered 'normal' or even natural for him. He would have to have a personality transplant before he could act like that with Elizabeth and frankly, he wasn't sure she would appreciate it either.

A staggering learning curve to be sure but he was determined to give it a shot. He would succeed one way or another, would become a reliable and considerate mate. He couldn't promise love but he would certainly provide companionship and children as Elizabeth desired. Eventually he would come to settle in to his own way but whether or not Elizabeth had the patience for this remained to be seen - she could run for the hills if she had second thoughts after all.

...Or rather down the hills.

Either way, he was determined to make this work and not one for failure, he would ensure that his father came to appreciate and respect the arrangement he had.

"I have rough ideas of certain locations that might be suitable as a dwelling," he offered after a few moments. "Though I am interested to know your own thoughts as well. Perhaps a discussion to be had over breakfast, as I am sure you have a considerable appetite this morning," he finished. His words were mere statements of fact, the mountain air often made creatures particularly ravenous and she had been subject to a great deal of exercise as of late.

He was doing his best, he could get brownie points for that!
PostPosted: Thu Aug 05, 2010 2:19 pm

Undress, indeed. It was a poetic term for Elizabeth, given that there had been a time when 'undress' was something quite literal; when she wouldn't stir from her comfortable stall until she had been covered by her gown and a cloak and, later, when she wouldn't leave the tepee until she's wriggled her way into the increasingly tattered remains of that same gown. It had been years since the gown had finally dissolved into tatters, and existing without it had proved to be a greater trial than she would have imagined.

But time had tempered her earlier sentiments, and she had cheerfully (well, mostly) embraced the concept of natural modesty. Now, it didn't matter if one saw her in the middle of the day or the middle of the night; it was all the same.

Though she could respect the gesture.

Seeing that she had been observed, Elizabeth offered Ambroise a smile and a slight nod of her own. "Good morning, Ambroise; I am rested, thank you." Obliquely side-stepping the actual question as she couldn't answer it in the affirmative, she offered her response with an easy quickness, this sort of casual conversation the sort she was honestly most used to. If Ambrosie was out of sorts or uncomfortable, he managed quite well.

"I hope that you yourself had a pleasant sleep. It was nice to know when I laid down last night that we were in the Islagiatt, though I'm sure that the nights will be even more pleasant once we have located our proper home." As she spoke, Elizabeth moved over to where Ambroise was standing, assuming from his words than he might be scoping out such possibilities even then. Though his follow-up about breakfast quickly quelled that thought, replaced by one much more agreeable.

"I would love to hear your thoughts, Ambroise, particularly as you are more familiar with this area than I. Breakfast sounds like a good start, though; have you been awake long? I do hope you haven't refrained from breakfasting already on my part."

If Ambroise was going out on a limb in terms of comfort, Elizabeth was in her zone; solicitous and intent on accommodation, Ambroise was providing Liz with the perfect opportunity to feel him out, comfort-wise. She wasn't oblivious to the fact that this was novel to him, and it was her earnest hope that he didn't come to regret it.

"That would be a no then," the words came out before Ambroise had time to catch them and he gave an internal wince. Apparently even he was subject to a runaway mouth on occasions, whether he liked it or not he had inherited that from his mother. He'd managed to curb it on more than one occasion but once would have been safe to assume that his mouth was just a touch looser in the mornings when he was still groggy and reasonably out of sorts. Perhaps in time it would be a tidbit of information to file away for future use.

Unwilling to let his mouth do that again he promptly shook his head and released a sigh. "I should think you will sleep more soundly when you have found a location you are comfortable with," he added. It wasn't the best recovery in the world but he wasn't one for mincing words, diplomacy had never been his strong point and never would be. He had at least attempted, he could be given brownie points in that respect even if he received nothing more.

That aside, her enthusiasm for breakfast was well received by the stallion who had waited for her to awaken and a hint of a smile did touch his lips briefly. Unfortunately it didn't quite reach his eyes, but he was relieved that he no longer had to surpress the growls in his stomach. Satiating his hunger would be something he would savour before acting as a tour guide (again) for the mare.

"I may be more familiar with the area but that does not mean you can't have particular wants, needs or ideas of your own," he pointed out courteously before nodding to her left. It was only then that he began to bridge the gap between them. Motioning with his wing he finally make it more clear, he wanted to head in that particular direction. "And you will find that there are ample supplies of food this way," he added softly, waiting for the mare to take the lead. After all, ladies first and he could be satisfied in the knowledge the ground was firm enough to avoid accident at the moment.

"I would prefer to hear the specifics of what you consider necessary before I even begin to offer up ideas," he continued, beginning to walk slightly down the slope. "After all my needs may be considerably different than your own."

Obvious Elizabeth had to work on her dissembling, as Ambroise's answer quickly put to rest any hopes she might have had about her answer going unnoticed. Well, either that or she would perhaps have to start being directly honest when asked a question. She would go with the dissembling option, though; some questions were just not meant to be answered accurately.

Other than a very slight blush, she managed to maintain her composure, offering a slight smile as her response to his cover-up. They were quite the pair, weren't they? So far, he appeared to be very direct and honest, while she was a dissembler and...well, she wasn't dishonest, not in the negative sense of the word, but she did care perhaps a bit overmuch about those she was speaking about and to. If anything, they were quite complementary, they would merely have to get used to one another.

Either way, she was quick to agree with him. "You are likely correct; I believe that the unfamiliar location, coupled with the excitement of yesterday, left me a bit at a loss when it came time to sleep. Once I have settled into a comfortable location and my new routine, I am sure I will have no problems. And you need not worry," she offered, accepting Ambroise's presence and direction with the same nod of her head and moving off in that direction accordingly; "I will be most attentive during our search and be sure to offer thoughts, as they occur to me. At this point, though, I am honestly at a loss for any input."

Walking down the hill took a bit of attention, but her recent experience going up a mountain had proved extremely helpful in learning to shift her balance. Leaning back slightly, she too moved down the slope, looking about her for the proposed breakfast. "You see, I have lived with Cajji for almost the entire duration of my time in the Kawani lands, and before that..."

Pursing her lips slightly, she regarded her previous life, before she had come across on that hideous shift. Not fun, not at all, that voyage, and before that.. "Before that, life was very different. This is a great change, so I'm not even sure what it is that I expect." An honest answer, if unhelpful. "Shelter from the elements, easy access to water...preferably a lake or pond, with reeds near it, but a river would work if that was the best option. Plenty of room around, so that the children will have room to play but I may still watch them when they are young..."

For not having an opinion, the opinions certainly started to come quickly once she began to think about them, a gentle smile crossing her entire countenance as she surveyed her mental picture: a cozy tepee perched in a mountain meadow, nestled up beneath an overhang and surrounded by apple trees; herself, standing at the doorway and watching two little colts and a filly laughing as they played a game of tag in the grass; it was a lovely picture.

He'd caught her on the back hoof and he knew it, it was a piece of information he would file away for future reference. He had already had his suspicions that the mare preferred to keep most of her opinions to herself but evidently she also appeared to keep any sort of negativity bottled up. In short she was the complete opposite of his mother who was perhaps one of the most expressive, opinionated and exhuberant mares he had ever met. Rest assured Elizabeth would never overwhelm him but he would have to watch closely to ensure he was doing his job right.

...If she wasn't going to criticise him then how was he supposed to figure out how this all worked?

For a brief moment he had visions of requesting advice from his father, an idea that was quickly thrown aside given Grencia's disapproval of the arrangements he did have. His mother would never give a straight answer he could use and if he was perfectly honest, his siblings had the weirdest relationships ever so he certainly wouldn't ask them. Althalus was horrendously romantic, Killian's relationship had been wrought with drama and disputes; and as for Feng? Even Ambroise could tell that what he had wasn't a relationship, his brother was just bloody delusional! He quickly came to the conclusion that if worst came to worse he would figure most out himself and then find a way of approaching his father - one could hope that Grencia would have become comfortable at that point.

"I have no doubt that you will be attentive in our search, though I would appreciate if your criticisms were direct rather than silenced," he responded quietly. He hadn't meant it as a direct attack on who she preferred to be, if she wanted to keep her thoughts to herself on most occasions then that was her perogative, but he wouldn't accept silence when it came to looking for a home. Ambroise could settle anywhere in Islagiatt and be comfortable, the slopes were his home, it was Elizabeth who needed to find a place she loved and if she couldn't criticise something thoroughly then he wouldn't get it right.

It wasn't rocket science, even he knew this.

Nevertheless they eventually came to a slightly lower inclined where water appeared to escape from the rock face. The flow wasn't especially quick but the stream would be deep enough to drink from. Nearby she did of course have her choice of foods, there were the nuts from the previous evening and grasses, mosses and other such foods lodged within the shelter of the tree trunks. They definitely weren't like what one would receive in the lowlands but it was food!

"I would advise against the grass at this time of year," he murmured quietly. "The blades are particularly sharp," he explained and mused over her description of what she would want from the slopes. There were a few things that simply weren't possible (reeds for one) but he could find something similar to the rest. He dismissed a number of ideas he had previously had and selected alternatives that were more appropriate for Elizabeth.

"I should warn you now that reeds do not grow in the foothills, it isn't wet enough for them. However I am sure I can find locations that fit reasonably well with the rest of your wishes."

Elizabeth was going to have a great deal to learn as Ambroise's mate; this she had realized before she'd even agreed to the arrangement in the first place. It was a bit overwhelming to realize how much she would have to learn just to be able to name his family, though; given that she was used to relative isolation, the fact he even had so many siblings would prove a challenge to her, in terms of remembering who was who, and who their mates were, and who their children were, and that sort of thing. Fortunately for her that sort of demand wouldn't be cropping for a very long time, so she could focus on more important things.

Things like learning about the stallion that was now her mate, the most prominent figure other than herself in her life. She had a feeling that it was going to take some time, not because he was necessarily complicated, but because he was DIFFERENT.

Walking down the incline, Elizabeth took advantage of her lowered gaze to peek back at him, wondering to herself what he was thinking and whether it was anything along the lines she herself was thinking. She wouldn't be surprised if he was; after all, this was really the first day they'd been together where they hadn't been hustling along to the peaks. Though he might very well have other things on his mind, being a busy individual; perhaps he was thinking about flight maneuvers, or unseasonably warm weather. His expression gave her no hints, whatever was on his mind.

But she was quietly confident that, in time, she would figure him out. Familiarity bred understanding, and once she had settled into her routine and had time to assimilate his, she would be fine.

Reaching the level area, she paused and looked around, observing the water and then looking over at the trees. Her first instinct HAD been towards the grass, actually, but at his recommendation she determined that breakfast would be found in the only other non-rocky patch. The only problem? She wasn't used to that sort of food, and consequently didn't know what she was looking FOR.

So first, a drink. Moving over to the stream, she tossed back her mane, then bent over and took a drink, her mane never once touching the water. Feeling her thirst suitably slaked, she looked back at her mate, nodding her head slightly in quiet acceptance. "Well, I wasn't quite sure. I've gotten used to reeds and find the sound of them brushing against each other in the breeze to be soothing, but they are a purely aesthetic consideration. I would much rather have a home that fulfills practical requirements."

And she fully planned on participating in the search for such a home, even if it meant voicing opinions. But first...

"This is probably a strange question, Ambroise, but if the grasses are sharp, which parts of...greenery do you recommend as food?" She had a LOT to learn about the mountains.

He'd always known that she wasn't from the highlands in that respect. He wasn't naive to this fact and had embraced it whole heartily. However, it was only now that it was dawning on him that she was really a duck out of water. She had come from a land where food was plentiful and within minimal reach, only to be thrust into a world where one had to work a little to get what they wanted. There was a great deal for her to learn and he was becoming acutely aware of this fact, it was an unfortunate realisation for him that he had duties elsewhere and simply wouldn't have the time to show her everything. It was a rare moment in which the male hadn't thought things completely through and his expression clouded briefly.

He made a mental note to track down his mother as soon as possible. Yei had lived on the slopes all her life, knew them and could navigate them blind. If there was anyone who could teach his mate to survive in the highlands it would be that mare and she would have ample time to do it too. There was nothing his mother loved more than to dote and socialise, plus, it would give her the opportunity to know Elizabeth. The cogs in his head turned, if Yei grew fond of Elizabeth then his father really wouldn't have any other choice then to accept the arrangements. Admittedly Yei loved everyone, but his father was notably biased and if there was genuine support there...

He shook his head and quickly dismissed these issues. He could ponder over them a little later when he had dealt with Elizabeth's query. For now he attempted to place himself in her hooves, taking quick note of the foods she was most accustomed to and how well they would be suited to the foods up here. He quickly concluded that the only thing that her stomach would accept with any sort of ease would either be moss (which had a bizarre texture) or -

"Roots," he replied after he had finished considering question and her current condition. "They are a similar texture to grass and contain much the same value nutritionally," he explained. Ever logical he seemed to think he needed a reason for his answer, that being said, it was appropriate that she understood why he had made the choice as well. Eventually it may be a piece of information she would need and as many mares had told him before there was nothing more infuriating than being unable to back up your statement with sound reasoning. Unfortunately 'because I said so' was not considered sound reasoning.

...Even though Ambroise would argue they used that retort regularly.

"The ones of most value are by the tree trunks," he nodded towards one particular tree, covered in moss. He approached it, regarded the lay and shape of the roots beneath and then promptly stabbed his hoof into the soil. After a while it became clear that he was digging until the roots of the sharp grass on the surface became exposed. Pale, off white but otherwise ripe and very juicy.

"When they are sheltered by the weather they are less likely to harden," he finished.

If Elizabeth had been privy to Ambroise's thoughts, at least one element would like have amused her. Ambroise might accept that she was from the lowlands, but as to him embracing that fact, whole-heartedly or no, she would have to admit to having serious reservations. In their first meeting, back when little Fenghuang had been...well, LITTLE, Ambroise had not held back his sentiments about lowland Soquili, and she was mostly sure that hadn't changed. If anything, he was tolerant of the fact that she was from the lowlands, and probably glad she was atypical. Which would be a compliment of sorts, albeit a strange one.

At the moment, her lowland experience certainly wasn't helping her; it was exceedingly embarrassing to have to ask what things were FOOD. But she was wary of toxic or poisonous substances, and it just seemed sensible to ask before eating. She planned to be a quick study and be very attentive to what was edible, but for now she would just have to deal with it, the alternatives being starving or being ill.

So she watched with close care as Ambroise dug up the grass roots, noting their appearance and location as well as the digging technique. The explanation of 'why' was informative, but not nearly as helpful as the visual demonstration. Perhaps Ambroise had gotten used to having to provide 'sound reasoning', but ironically he had tied himself to a mare that typically didn't need such lengthy explanations. He was the local, not she, and if he told her the locals ate ROCKS she would likely swallow one without vocalized complaint.

It was just as well that he didn't want to poison her, otherwise things could be quite interesting.

"So the edible part is the white part, then? Is the rest of the plant also edible, or is it merely a matter of taste?" After all, there were some plants in the lowlands that had edible roots and toxic leaves. Best to learn right now which were poisonous or otherwise disagreeable!

He may not have held back when it came to his disdain for lowland soquili. His opinion of them certainly hadn't changed either, but, he had accepted Elizabeth and selected her despite her origins. It certainly helped that she was atypical but she was also from the lower regions and as a consequence he was aware of what she may and may not be naive to. Granted it may not have been at the forefront of his mind when he had proposed, but, his subconcious had tweaked on to the fact that there would be considerable difference between the lifestyle on the slopes and the one down here.

She might have had reservations, but he knew what he meant!

When he was certain she had seen the manner in which he had located the roots as well as the practised method to expose them, he withdrew properly. He fixed his gaze on the mare, pursed his lips and then returned his gaze to the plant as she made reference to its colour. He had to take a double take for the simple reason that he hadn't immediately catalogued which type of plant it was. On a subconcious level he knew the roots were edible and moved to them instinctually but he was forced to look back to check the upper half.

"It's edible," he said finally, perhaps a little too simply. "All of it," he amended, realising she had asked more than one question. "It is a form of grass after all but I cannot guarantee the top half will take taste particularly pleasant," he explained and rolled his shoulders in the fashion of a loose shrug. "I have always found the grass up here particularly coarse, I avoid it by default but you may be more inclined to it than I."
PostPosted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 12:14 pm

Simple Ambroise's reply might have been, but it was all the response Elizabeth required. Right now, she needed to learn basics; where it was safe to go and where it wasn't; what was edible and what wasn't; who was related and who wasn't. Basic information that would keep her going and prevent her from encountering any unsavory individuals or poisoning herself or falling off of a mountain. She didn't need to know the scientific name of the plant she was eating, or all the historical details of the place they were currently standing. That could come later.

For now, simplicity was best, and she was quick to reap the benefits of that simplicity. Deciding to 'bite the bullet', as it were, she gingerly pulled up a sampling of the white roots, chewing on them cautiously. They actually weren't bad; juicier than grass, and with a nice crunch. Not an apple by a long shot, but certainly pleasant.

And then she had to try the grass, just for comparison's sake. Immediately after the first bite she was making a face, the coarseness of the grass nothing in comparison to the bitterness of the shoots. "My goodness, that's ghastly!"

Not very lady-like, certainly, but the unpleasantness of the grass had taken her by surprise. It appeared that it would be roots for her, going forward...

He’d know that this response would come; he had never met a soquili who liked the taste of the ‘shards’ of grass. They were so sharp, coarse and unforgiving that they were far from edible – they were more like a weapon of war than anything that should be put in the mouth. Alas, he was sure that somewhere in the world there was a creature that was suitably content to dine on such a meal. This point aside, her reaction may have been predictable but that didn’t make it any less amusing. The face she pulled was characteristic of a petulant child who had been force fed vegetables; the only difference was that she had sampled these ones willingly.

His eyes creased into a smile and he gave a slight chuckle in response to her revelation. He would wholeheartedly agree with her description of this particular food, it was definitely ghastly and there really wasn’t a better way to put it. Whether or not his shift from his otherwise predictable stoic nature was a surprise or not, was of no concern to him. Contrary to popular belief, he was an individual who did have a decent sense of humour even if he chose not to show it often. His mother’s declaration that he had the personality of a plank was obviously a touch harsh, though it would be accurate to assume that she used such a descriptive as a method of teasing than genuine jibe.

...Besides, it made him easier for new soquili to deal with (apparently), something to do with being less intimidating.

“I did attempt to warn you,” he replied gently. He refrained from raising a brow as some might choose to do in the current circumstances and merely shook his head. “I have yet to meet an individual who favours such a unique flavour of the blades as opposed to that of the root,” he added. Rather than continue on this topic (unless she chose to do so herself) he then unfurled a wing and gestured towards what appeared to be a furry substance. She was bound to have the same foliage in the lowlands, it was moss of course, it was just a slightly different colour and probably of a different taste and texture. “However I think it would be safe to say that moss is one food that few rarely spurn, regardless of where they might live.”
PostPosted: Sat Dec 18, 2010 11:01 am

Elizabeth's expression was properly rueful, shifting naturally from 'petulant child' after she had a moment to try and shake off the unpalatable elements of the grass. The silliness of her reaction was not lost on her, particularly coming as it did on the heels of much more restrained behavior, and though she blushed a bit her face bore a shy smile itself. "Well, I believe that I can now vouch for the impracticality of eating the grass." Though she honestly doubted that it would come up again; the phrase 'once bitten, twice shy,' would have an entirely new connotation for Elizabeth!

Besides, the experience hadn't been without its benefits. Negative reaction has a way of ingraining things to be avoided in the psyche, and besides: she had had a chance to witness her new mate actually, truly laugh! It might have been a soft laugh, more a chuckle than anything else, but coming from one as reticent as Ambroise, it had all the oomph of full blown hysteria in another. His obvious amusement, reflected in both the vocalization and his briefly crinkled eyes, was enough to make the moment truly worth it. In that brief flash of humor, she had seen yet another side of her mate: one that she could completely believe to be related to Yei Umeko.

However, it was a moment to be enjoyed, not ruined by comment or especial remark, and besides: they were on a mission. Consequently, she easily allowed her attention to be directed to the moss.

It was indeed a familiar sight for her; particularly in wetter seasons or when in the thick of the forest, moss could be arguably described as being everywhere. It was spongy underfoot, cool to the touch, and made an excellent bed when encountered in large quantities on the ground. But she could honestly say that she had never once considered eating it. "Really? What would you say is the best way to graze on moss, without ripping it out or getting the dirt part in one's mouth?"

She'd put on one show; that would be good enough for this meal!

At first the stallion wasn't entirely certain of how to respond. It wasn't that his mate had asked a difficult question, more a case of that she had already answered it. To respond in any manner risked being patronising, particularly if he selected the wrong tone, and for all Ambroise's social awkwardness he could appreciate that this should be avoided. Therefore his reply wasn't immediate as he dwelled on the best wording; his vocabulary was extensive but this didn't necessarily benefit him - on the contrary, sometimes it gave him a little too much choice.

He was met with a rare moment of indecision.

An awkward smile eventually found it's way onto his lips, decidedly sheepish and with a hint of apology. He had no intention of being patronising but there was really no other response he could provide to her enquiry. She was a mare who clearly preferred a more dainty and graceful manner of dining but the winter months really didn't cater for that type of thing on the slopes. As a consequence she would have to be introduced to a more 'wild' method...

"I do believe that's exactly how it's meant to work. Tear it up and eat it, the soil adds to the taste or so they would say," he cleared his throat and continued. "Unfortunately we are more inclined towards wild and unrefined dining in these parts. 'Tidy' isn't generally associated with our foraging methods in the colder seasons," he confessed.
