Romans 12:2 "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
If you were talking to a Christian who was illiterate in the Bible and the phrase, "be transformed by the renewing of your mind" came up, how would you explain it? What does it mean?

Renewing your mind means several different things in the Christian world, at least, to me it does. One meaning of it is to begin the process of letting go of your worldly thoughts, and letting the lord 'renew' your mind by replacing those worldly thoughts with thoughts that serve his purposes.
Another meaning is to take the stress of your day and to just relax in the lord, letting him renew your mental health.
We need to let ourselves be renewed and refreshed entirely by the lord.
I would probably explain better, but I've been on the road all day and can't think entirely properly. XD;; So I apologize if I'm not making a ton of sense. Hopeuflly you at least got the gist of what I'm trying to say.

I understand what you're saying :3 This was something my Bible Study group talked about briefly and I thought I'd see what other Christian's had to say; I like your explanation.

There's a Time to Laugh "Ephesians 2: 8-9"
I think "to be transformed by the renewing of your mind" means that we must forget the way of the world and turn our minds to Christ. We were dead in our transgressions and are alive in Christ Jesus. So as we come to Christ and are now Alive then so we must also drop our world outlooks on things. It means we must live in God's will by turning over everything we have and laying it down at his feet.
And a Time to Cry "Romans 5: 3-5"
