Character Name: Hinalle Age: 29 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Craft/Rank: Healercraft, Journeyman [Trauma Specialist] ;; Midwife
History: Born to a normal Hold family, Hinalle spent the early years of her life chasing at her mother's skirts and playing with other children her age. She was neither bright nor dull in her group, content to be a follower rather than a leader, and overall her youth passed in happiness. There was only one event that blotted such good times, a rather harmless prank that went quite awry. Locked inside a dark cabinet for what was only supposed to be a few minutes, Hinalle was left in that dark and small space for more than two-thirds of the day, finally let out when her sobs were overheard by a passing adult. Since that time she has grown to fear the dark as well as small spaces, prompting her to avoid both as much as possible.
When Hinalle reached about eight or nine turns of age she started to show signs of interest in Healercraft, a bit more of a desire to do things other than help her mother around the Hold with sick women and children. After several months of begging, and even a little bit of bribery with a promise to come home as a skilled worker, Hinalle was allowed to the Hall before she turned ten, and she stayed there up until she was around fourteen turns. A sudden family emergency found her back at the hold and with her kinfolk when search dragons happened to ride through, one of the blueriders pointing her out as a Candidate possible. Without much room for argument and with good mind to return to Healer Hall if things at the Weyr didn't work out, Hinalle went on to Benden.
Hinalle's Turns at the Weyr were spent rather uneventfully, the girl going to Candidate lessons with other children and Standing on the sands at each Impression. She assisted the Healers in the infimary as often as she could, to help keep her lessons fresh in her memory as well as learning new ones, and soon she was as comfortable with the Weyr healers as she had been at the hall. She certainly was not, however, treated like a trained healer and therefore wasn't allowed to do many things though the current midwife did enjoy how little Hinalle seemed to balk at things like delivering babies and therefore used the girl often for helping with that task.
It never really bothered her that the eggs left on the sands weren't cracked, seeing as she likely didn't know that happened at other Weyrs, and she never questions the fact that perhaps the dragon for her was waiting beneath on of those shells. It was through this thinking and the passing of Turns that Hinalle eventually aged out of Candidacy at 22 turns, upon which time she quickly returned to her studies at Healer Hall. While her love for the Weyr and the life she was living there was strong, she certainly had more of a desire to continue the path she'd been on before, and shortly before her 27th turn she was confirmed and Walked the Tables to become a Journeyman. Her return to Benden Weyr was only a matter of time, seeing as she'd spent most of her life there instead of at any other place, and a few sevendays after her 28th birthday she returned to the Weyr with the plans on staying permanently.
Description: Originally possessing hip-length muddy brown hair when brought to the Weyr to be a Candidate, in an attempt to look less feminine (or less appealing) Hinalle has all but cut her hair off to a point where it barely sits above her ears, usually shrinking even further do to genetically natural loose curls. Her eyes are as dark as her hair and sit well positioned on her face, helping shape her jaw and cheeks into a more slender angle.
Overall she is fairly averaged sized for a Pernese woman, settling in around 5'5" or 5'6" depending on the shoes she's wearing and if she's trying hard to reach something on the top shelf. Her weight is proportional to her height thanks to a strict control of her diet and daily exercise - all habits learned from the Healer Hall. Hinalle is medium busted, likely measuring a C cup, though she takes care not to show off her bosom around the Weyr like many other woman.
She wears two clips over her right ear to hold her bangs back and a bangle made of rough beads around her ankle, but otherwise she avoids jewelry all together. Her clothing is simple, as befitting a healer, and she often leans more towards wearing shirts that fit her snugly as opposed to anything loose or misfitting. Around her hips she carries a massive belt covered in pouches that are full of several bottles of different salves and other poultices. This pouch-belt is old and falling apart at the seams, but it seems as much a part of her as leathers would be on a rider.
Personality: Hinalle's a bit blushy, to put it mildly. Rather on the meek side, but not to the point she's incapable of handling herself around others, the woman has a tendency to turn a nice shade of crimson if someone so much as even looks at her with the intent of complimenting her. She hasn't quite learned to accept all compliment with grace as it were, even though she's older in age, and sometimes it leads to awkward moments where she puts her foot in her mouth.
Coupled with Hinalle's meekness is her soft-hearted nature. Unwilling to turn anyone away regardless of how they may have treated her in the past, the woman is a walking weakness for a sob story, and therefore is easily manipulated. Pity comes from her like water does from a fountain, and it's often that she'll bend over backwards to help anyone that she feels is greatly in need . . . so long as they don't try to praise her for it or make mention that they owe her something. She'll do her best to take the praise with as much favor as she can, but it's likely too much will make her simply turn red and clam up. It's a work in progress.
When not acting like an idiot or sobbing over someone's misfortunes, Hinalle's greatest joy is in being a healer and her meticulous nature at keeping records of everything is her greatest assets. While not wickedly brilliant by any means, Hinalle makes up for what she lacks in smarts with an uncanny knack for keeping things in order. Fur records created by her are always neat and in order, her penmanship one of her secret prides, and she takes great pains to ensure not a single detail is missed when caring for someone. It's safe to say she's lost plenty of sleep while working in the Infirmary every night, but she's got a decent record of patients under her belt that have recovered.
Other: - Hinalle acts as an assistant to the Weyr's midwife or, when the woman is unavailable, she acts as the midwife herself. She has probably delivered or helped deliver more than half of the current Weyrbrats running around, since she has been assisting the Midwife since her arrival at the Weyr at 14 turns. It is expected that Hinalle will take over as the Midwife very soon now that she is no longer a Candidate and is a Journeyman Healer.
- Despite her older age, Hinalle is still a virgin. This is a result of careful study of proddy riders and making time lines, allowing her to dismiss herself before flights can occur. While she is not a prude, her choice is a result of wanting to fall in love and choose of her own right - not have her body urges do it for her.
- Hinalle has a silver flitter named Sorelli (RL flitter)

There's a couple things I need addressed before this can be accepted. =3
1) I find it hard for someone to have 6 year break from studies due to Candidacy and then walk the tables shortly after ageing out. Your timeline is this: 10-15 : Apprentice Healer 15-21 : Candidate 22-23 : Apprentice 24 : Journeyman. It's hard to believe that the six years she spent as a Candidate didn't affect her studies at all, which is implied by the two year return to studies. Something would be more believable is either a shorter time in Candidacy or a longer study time after Candidacy. Healercraft is one of those crafts that would take a long while to become a Journeyman at.
2) You say "Without much room for argument and with little mind to return to Healer Hall if things at the Weyr didn't work out, Hinalle went on to Benden." in one paragraph of her history then "While her love for the Weyr and the life she was living there was strong, she certainly had more of a desire to continue the path she'd been on before". The former implies she wasn't really interested in returning to her Apprenticeship without giving a reason why and the latter implies a deep desire to continue her studies. If you could clarify that, it'd be great.
3) How can she be crippled by timidity and humility and yet not have a problem with her craft? Healers get a lot of thanks and I honestly can't see her instant refusal of appreciation going over well with patients let alone build trust because of her refusal to say she's right. If a trait is crippling, it doesn't turn off in certain situations and you've got it so that she's fine with patients... so there's a large contradiction there. Additionally, you say she's wickedly brilliant and she's rather pretty? Seems to be pushing the envelope a bit there - she may have a good understanding but she's only been functioning as a Healer on her own for 2 years, there's still a lot she'll have to learn. Perhaps she's a quick learner? It's not all just about the lessons, the placement as a healer is also very important in teaching. If you could address those two concerns, it would be great.
4) Silver flits are one of the larger colours of flits... I don't see how she'd keep him in a pouch. And he'd have to eat and socialize and otherwise be a flit - someone would notice him at some point. Flits aren't really considered all that special in this Cannon, regardless of Old or New Weyrs so those who disapprove of the Atypicals would likely just ignore the silver, making a need to hide him moot.
Once these points are addressed, I'll be glad to review it again~

I aged her up and fixed her history and got rid of her flitter entirely (it'd just get in the way). Let me know if that works and then I'll do something about her personality.
