This is still being 'fleshed' out between myself and a friend. But, I'll give you the highlights so you don't go 'WHAT!?'... Because I'm serious.
* A celestial maiden was sent to the island as punishment. Though she didn't see it as punishment at first.
* The islands spirit took the form of a human male and seduce her. She had a two children. A female and a male. Her spirit, and her children's spirits were intertwined with the island.
* Once the female child was of age she was given a very special mirror. She was allowed to go anywhere via the mirror.
* Her mother would grow weak and die shortly after the child she had came of age.
* The maiden would go to all corners to search for a man. She would seduce him. Once she was pregnant she would return the island, and shatter her mirror.
* She shattered her mirror so that she couldn't followed or found. Thus, the tradition started. All children of the maidens were born female, and would continue to do this.
* Eventually they were so intertwined to the island that they needed it to survive. But, at the same time the island needed its maiden. It was her will that kept it going.
* The tradition was 'upset' when Lilyana was born. She looked like the original maiden. She did as all the previous maidens before her.
* However, Lilyana ended up falling in love with man, and she couldn't bear to shatter her mirror.
* The island was angry. And, to make her forget him he turned into human form again. He seduced and rapped her. He wouldn't let her die like all the other maidens. He was partial to her because of her looks despite how angry she had made him.
* Lilyana secretly sent Ceres through the mirror shortly after her birth. She didn't say anything to the father before vanishing once more.
* Shortly after this Lilyana was transformed into a great oak/willow like tree. She is concealed in a grove of mist.
* Skye the man Lilyana had fallen in love with pieced things together. Skye went to look for the love of his life.
* The island tricked Skye... Told him of what his love was. Made him think that Lilyana had never loved him. The island lead him to the desert of despair where he to was turned into a tree.
* Ceres having buried both her parents on earth was sad. The more she thought about it, the more she looked at the mirror... The more she wanted to know. Something clicked, and through the mirror she went.
* Not understanding completely what happened the mirror shattered behind her. Ceres would later discover her mother and father were still alive.
* Lilyana wanted better for Ceres. She coaxed a stray mother Pegasus into the grove. The mother Pegasus was sick, and thus her heard wouldn't allow her to run with them. The mother Pegasus gave birth to Sky (named after the love of her life). Shortly after mother Pegasus died.
* When Sky wasn't enough she created Perian, and Ceres sought to adopt children.
* Ceres still wanted a child of her own. 450 years old and a virgin. She was old, and very tired. She knew that she couldn't possibly have much more to live for so she sought out a way to have a child without having to have sex.
* Sky didn't want the child to be just anyones, so he volunteered. He allowed himself to become human. It was in hopes that perhaps science wouldn't realize he was really a Pegasus.
