Runako found himself returning from another morning spent in the desert. As usual he found himself alone out there with no other soul around. It gave him time to think and to reflect. Something he didn't like to do as lately all he could think about was his family.
What had happened to his brother?
Wincing Runako remembered vividly the scene of his mother's wrath against his younger brother. Was it fair that he was here while his brother could be dead or worse? Alone in this huge world? Maybe he shouldn't have settled yet. But as Runako looked over the sands and approached the oasis, he shook his head.
Forgive me brother, but I found my home here.
Still he would make up for it. Being a guardian to protect the pride unlike how he hadn't been able to protect him. For years he had been running, but now he was finally going to stand firm. And he would do it here as a member of the Dawn Walkers.

Kimya had settled into the routine of learning the ways of a healer. When asked what he would prefer for his position, it had been painfully obvious. If he could save others the pain he'd endured and still felt everytime a dry wind ran down his throat, then he would be happy.
Getting used to the heat, however, was a different thing. The blue lion sought shelter in a little patch of shade, for once on his own without his beloved Zana at his side. It made him nervous. He hated being alone. But then, he didn't like females all that much either because of his mother, so where did he stand?
He'd tried to treat a female guardian earlier, but ran away in fright. His breathing still heart from the panic attack he'd given himself. What if she had struck? What if he messed up and angered her? What if he hurt her? Would she be coming back?
Kimya flipped his ears back and laid his head on his paws.

Padding along the warm sand, Runako kept an eye out for some scribe. A female guardian had managed to grab his attention while he had been wandering back towards his den and had told him about some terrified lion who hadn't been able to treat her. Understanding her concern, Runako had promised to make sure that the other lion was okay.
Looking around Runako scanned the area where the lion had supposedly run off to, but he couldn't really see any blue. Or could he? Noticing a shaded spot, Runako headed towards it. Though once he saw the other lion who was resting there he paused. "Hey. Are you okay?" Runako asked peering closer before taking a startled step back.
No. It just wasn't possible was it? Right? There was no way...
Runako stared at the lion in shock. The resemblance to his brother was disturbing. The lilac lion shook his head trying to get the images from his mind. This had to be some mirage or trick of his mind!

Kimya looked apathetically up at the other lion, prepared to nod his head. He knew sooner or later someone would come looking for him, but he hadn't expected it to be this soon.
However, when he turned, his eyes widened, mouth dropping open. The lilac....swirls...eye color...voice...But how could he? How did he..? Kimya licked his lips, half rising up with his forelegs. The malnutrition and dehydration had to be playing with his head.
He closed his eyes, counted to 10, and opened them again, staring back at his brother. Kimya mouthed "Runako" and inhaled sharply.

He mirrored the other lion's movements and when Kimya didn't leave his sight, Runako realized that it had to be true. Especially when he saw his own named mouthed by the other lion. "Kimya? Kimya?" He repeated before letting out a yowl, "Kimya!"
Runa moved without thinking. Tackling the other lion to the ground, he embraced him. "I can't believe it! After all these years..." His voice was shaky as he pulled back to look at his brother, "You're alive." Swallowing he couldn't help but to keep looking at him before adding another realization, "Though you...You look horrible." Having lived here for a while now, Runako recognized the signs of a rogue wandering in the desert for quite some time. His poor brother must have been near death out there!
And here he had been in this oasis missing his presence this whole time. Runako stood and backed away from Kimya with his ears pressed against his head shamefully. "I'm so sorry." His eyes closed as he kept whispering his apology over. How could Kimya even stand to see him here?

Kimya's eyes misted over before tears ran down the stripes on his face. He inhaled raggedly, body shaking until his brother tackled him and the dam burst.
He couldn't believe it! He embraced him, running his damp cheek along Runako's side. When they both pulled back, he reached up to wipe off his face, slightly embarrassed. All those times he'd assumed that his brother was dead were false. How else could he be right here, infront of him?
Looking down at himself, Kimya saw what the other must have seen and compared himself to Runako. Would anyone even know they were brothers like this? He opened his mouth, leaning forward even as his brother pulled back until he was on his paws. No, no, not again. He shook his head. Why was everyone appologizing? There wasn't anything wrong with him, and the past was the past, couldn't they see that? First Zana, now Runako. Desperately, he cocked his head to the side to look his brother in the eye. It's not your fault. It was never your fault, he thought, wishing he could vocalize his words now more than ever. I'm just so happy your here, alive. Can't you see that?

Looking at Kimya, Runako made a choked sound full of emotion. It was his brother. It really was. Seeing his brother shake his head Runako let out a sigh. "So you don't want an apology then even with.....everything that happened?" He smiled with faint amusement. "It really is you then, Kimya."
Still his heart was heavy with guilt.
Shaking his head the lilac lion looked at his brother. "How did you get here? Are you alone?" He asked before blinking sheepishly. That's right - Kimya couldn't talk. Runako looked towards the oasis before glancing back at his brother, "Maybe we should get a drink first? You're probably not used to this heat yet, right?"

Kimya's heart softened. Sharing this moment with his brother was more than any apology could ever amount to. They hadn't asked for the mother they had been born to. All that mattered now was moving on.
He shook his head, partially scanning the area for Zana. When he didn't see her, he gave a shy little grin, held up one claw and made silouette of a female with his paws. Then he placed his hand on his chest. One day...one day soon he would have Zana tell Runako of their adventure, to fill him in on how much she'd changed him from the scared prey to a strong hunter.
On response, Kimya licked his lips. Water sounded heavenly. He stood, then looked back for Runako to lead the way.

"Not alone?" Runako gave a small smile. That was good news, at least there was someone out there for his brother. A good friend....err mate? Watching Kimya's motions the lion let out a roaring laugh. "So that's how it is then? Followed your heart even to the desert? Ah, it seems my brother is a bit of a romantic. I never even imagined..."
He patted his brother playfully, "I can't wait to meet her." His lilac gaze softened despite his playfulness, "To mean so much to you, she must be amazing."
"Anyway!" Runako shook his head and gave his brother a faint smile, "Let's go." Turning the lion took off deeper into the oasis where a large pool of water sparkled in the sun.

Kimya's cheeks darkened and on habit he lowered his head. Really, had it not have been for Zana, he could have very easily been an effeminate gay. But, as Runako said, he followed his heart, and now women were okay in his book.
Well, one was.
He pushed back against him, laughing silently. She was amazing! More amazing that anyone Runako had ever met. Kimya trailed along beside his brother until he saw the water and then he broke off into a run, dive bombing into the cool depths, regardless of the random others trying to get a drink.

Runako flicked his tail against his brother's side with a chuckle, "It's fine." He looked thoughtful before a soft sigh escaped, "If I had someone...I would probably do the same."
Laughing quietly Runako watched his brother diving into the pool. "Kimya!" Shaking his head the lion just shrugged. It was Kimya, he didn't care what he did. Actually he was tempted now... "Move over!" With a playful roar he dived in next to his brother.

Kimya broke through the surface of the water with a gasp. He shook his luxurious mane out, sloshing a spray of water out around him. Now this was what he was talking about. Take your desert and your sand; he wanted to be a fish. Or a really nice croc.
He barely had time to move out of the way before he was drug under water. Oh, Runako was soooo gonna get it now! Kimya got a evil glint in his eyes before moving in on his brother, splashing the other male in the face as soon as he broke for air.

Enjoying the rush of cool water as he dived into the pool, Runako let out a laugh of bubbles as he spotted his brother going under with him. Spinning beneath the waters he finally had to breath and so the lilac lion emerged.
Only to get splashed straight in the face.
"Kimya!" He spat out a mouth full of water before glaring. He wasn't going to get away with that! His paw flung out against the water sending a splash after his brother. Even if others were watching the adult lions playing in the water like cubs, Runako didn't mind. He was too happy being able to play fight with his brother again.

Kimya stuck out his tongue playfully, something he wouldn't have dared done months prior to this day. He closed his eyes against the spray. Then, he turned round and started backpedaling, splashing Runako with the spray from his hind legs.

"Oh, Kimya!" Runako growled playfully before diving back underwater. The lion began to push himself forward in the water before colliding with his brother. Bubbles left his mouth as he emerged with a laugh. Ears twitching he looked up at the sky with a sigh. "Patrol." The one word which usually made him eager to run for the desert made his playful nature fade. How quickly time could pass sometimes...
Nuzzling his brother the lion headed towards the shore. "I'll track you down later." He stated firmly before looping back off towards the desert.
