It's a breezy summer afternoon at the Aoi Dojo. Hiroyuki's home by himself. Everyone else has gone out for the day, but he remained behind. It was a dull day, although nice out. The Aoi Dojo is housed above the town on a hill near a small town. The stone steps are freshly swept, the floors have been waxed, and the dishes have been cleaned...Hiroyuki must be bored.
It is common that visitors drop into the temple to ask for help as most of the town say Hiroyuki is the most friendly person to strangers. In other words, the townspeople don't trust outsiders and prefer him to handle them. Alas, no one has come through today. Hiroyuki is sleeping on his front porch with nothing to do.

"It looks like I do the things I want to do~" A cheerful hum filled the air as Miyabi strolled down the pathway outside, her shoes clacking daintily in beat. Her gaze was trained on the line of houses lining the street, but her mind was elsewhere. In the quiet neighborhood, no one would be there to see the strange lolita girl. "So even if I fail, things somehow are okay~..."
The tune slowly died out as her amber eyes alighted upon a figure poised on wooden steps, broom in hand. She continued to stare at him unmoving for a few silent seconds before starting up the song again, eyes unblinkingly trained at him, curious, "How about you honestly believe in yourself? If you take one step forward, then it'll work out somehow~"
"Take it easy! If you were blown by the sea breeze, your worries would turn into glitter? That's a lie!"

Hiroyuki was quietly napping....vertically, that is. Not a day went by that visitors didn't come, but now no one passed. Not a soul. The whole dojo was spotless and he was sure a clean walkway would welcome as least someone. His eyes glazed over at the scene before him. Soft chirping and the gentle rustle of leaves...it was all a lullaby.
Broken by a voice.
Hiroyuki's eyes burst open as he cried out. "What the--!?" The man slipped forward and slammed his chin un-ceremoniously on the tip of the broom, and then crashed to the floor. He glanced about looking for the one who disturbed his slumber when suddenly he caught sight of a yellow-clad girl singing to herself. "Hey, hey, what'cha sneakin' up on me for!" Clearly, this Scizor was cranky.

At the sight of him falling, Miyabi broke out of her trance and laughed, "Teehee~ You seem like a good person," She clapped her hands together and approached the guy, "I've made up my mind! I'll get to know you. My name's Miyabi Hachimitsu, nice to meet you." She gave a little bow, her curls bobbing at the sides of her face. "How were you sleeping standing up? Are you supposed to be like a welcome sign to greet people? Where is this place anyway, A-o-i Do-jo? You fight? Ara, your broom fell over."
"Take it easy! If you were blown by the sea breeze, your worries would turn into glitter? That's a lie!"

This girl...must be really insane! Hiroyuki looked at her with a confused expression for a long time before finally muttering a response. "Uh, I'm..." He had to think for a moment about what she had asked exactly before speaking again. "I'm Hiroyuki Aoi, I run this place with my family." Hiroyuki scratched the back of his head before smiling at her, then winced. He had bruised his chin. As the Scizor massaged the place, he said, "I was just bored, y'know. We don't get a lot of customers as we do visitors." He didn't bother to answer everything. After recovering a second more and finally reaching consciousness he spoke less awkwardly. "So I supposed you're lost or need directions? Most people only come by for that."
The man looked at the girl more closely now. She was dressed in a certain style. What was it? Eh, it didn't matter. She would be gone long before he got to actually know her as she suggested.

"Ah, Hiroyuki Hiroyuki...Hiro-kun? Aoi, huh, but this place isn't blue." She peeked around, "It's kira-kira shining! Very traditional too, but the floor looks rather uncomfortable to sit on for long. I guess you need training for that." She blinked at his next words, "Lost?" Her hands went to her chin, and her brow furrowed the tiniest bit. Lost? Was she lost? She couldn't remember..."Aha! I'm not lost, I'm...I'm..." She grabbed his word, "BORED, that was it! I was just wandering around, and I thought 'Uwaah, what a nice neighborhood!' and before I knew it I was walking down this street. So, that's how I got here. I actually don't have anything to do, so could I look around? I've never seen an Aoi Dojo before."

If you're not lost, I am... Hiroyuki sighed at the girl's words. She was just a regular nut. Nothing too ridiculous or odd. He breathed a sigh of relief and looked off to the side with an expression of disbelief. Was I that bored that I got someone this crazy to talk to? Still, some company was better than nobody. He just nodded as she made her little comments.
"Oh, right, manners..." He said more to himself than her. "Um, yes. Ah, let me show you in." He bowed this time with a slight flush. His parents were always nagging how he never greeted anyone properly. "Just call me Hiro. I hate all that formality and honestly I don't get the purpose of that stuff. 'Oh, look, I don't know you so let me show utmost respect, blah, blah, blah!'" Hiroyuki did a little imitation of an uptight, elderly Japanese woman. "I mean, geez, just talk to me. I'm not the king or president of anything. So, uh - Miyabi, right. Right." He seemed to be talking to himself. "Please sit in the guest room. Would you like something to eat or drink?"
Hiroyuki had always been chatty with visitors, but he was particularly talkative seeing as no one had come by. He slid open the screen and led the girl in with another little bow. He massaged his chin still. Better get ice...

"Oh, but don't you think suffixes are cute? I like adding them because you feel closer that way. I wasn't being polite much, actually...come to think of it, you look older than me, so I can't call you '-kun' anyway. I'll think of something better then. You can call me whatever you like too," She stepped in, then stopped short at the sight of the clean floors, then looked down to her high laced boots.
...
"Then, sorry for intruding. I'll be taking off my shoes..." She sat down and undid the laces carefully before putting them aside and stepping out in her lacy socks. "Food? I ate a cake recently, but maybe if you have any rasp-I mean, any juice." She grinned sheepishly, kneeling on the cushion with her puffy skirt gathered around her. At his hand motion, she started giggling again, "Ooh, that looks rather red. Did your chin grow longer today?"
Leaning back, Miyabi took in more of the traditional setting. It was quite a contrast from her decorated apartment. "Dojo dojo...does that make you a dojo instructor, if you live and work here?"

Hiroyuki nodded pleasantly as the girl chattered away. She sure likes the sound of her own voice, huh? He settled next to her in a completely informal position. His leg was bent with the other leaning on his heel. Hiroyuki rested his arm on his knee as she unlaced her huge boots. He stared at the curious footwear, then compared them to his ratty sneakers that were in the cubby over on the side. She sat down, ignoring the slippers that were there. Eh, her socks look clean...maybe immaculate. He never understood girls' fashion much.
"I'll just get your some orange juice, then." He got back up as she sat down. "I hit it on the broom when you came, remember, silly?" He laughed playfully, which also hurt his chin. The Scizor winced, then slid another door that wasn't far to reveal a small kitchen. He left it open so he could hear her speak. "Yeah, I'm the instructor here. I'm also the future owner, so you better behave!" He joked again and found an ice pack to rest his chin on. He removed a carton of juice and prepared a small cup with a set of biscuits on a tray, then carried it over to the girl. He set himself in the same position with the ice pack against his wound.
"Sorry it's kind of boring in here," he said noticing her curious look around the room. "We're fighters, so we're more accustomed to making things worse than prettying them up." Hiroyuki chuckled.

Miyabi's smile widened at the sight of snacks, which she received with a "Thanks!" before taking one up. Orange juice was refreshing and sweet, a nice and simple choice for summer. As for biscuits, usually she had them fancy with a warm tea, but all snacks made her mouth water. Having satisfied herself with a nibble of both, she got comfortable for some talking, her first question being,
"Did you hurt the broom?" The combee said it with quite an air of seriousness, her features comically sharp. "Future owners and instructors shouldn't be napping on the job, should they? But it seems-" Here she looked around to confirm again, "It seems there's nobody else here? That would explain why you were bored, of course, but aren't dojos usually pretty busy, or did everyone go on a training camp to the mountains?" Here again she seemed quite serious; for all she knew, people really did these things.

Hiroyuki's eyes wandered as she snacked and talked. The girl was pleasant enough to be with for the moment. After all, she was company and seemed like she would be staying for a long time. The girl suddenly became very serious on a silly subject. He smirked, but only a little. Ah, she's like a little kid wandering around here. I'm surprised she wasn't hit by a car on the way here. Hiroyuki thought this more because it was likely to happen. Cars seemed to speed so fast nowadays. No one wanted to take it easy.
"The broom should be fine. It's sturdy." He smiled playfully. The girl was much too silly for him to not grin. "Well, the dojo doesn't do much business. My dad's been ill for a while. We thought it better if we kept this place quiet until he gets better, plus I don't have classes today. Most kids don't want to spend the summer learning how to fight." Hiroyuki, as usual, wasn't taking his job seriously. The lean Scizor tilted his head back listening to the cicadas. She sure is curious.

"Ah, even the broom has fight in it. I would have thought fighting would be more popular though, since a lot of characters in mangas know how to." Miyabi hadn't realized the guy's joking tone in the beginning, so she was every bit as serious as before. "But," she came to a satisfying conclusion, "I guess it must be the bears. They're pretty tough right? Not everyone would want to try and wrestle them while meditating under waterfalls. Of course, they might not be serious enough and only want to learn something quickly to look cool, but I'm sure it's the bears." Smiling now, she was into her second biscuit and her glass was nearing half empty. Turning to another topic, she wondered aloud, "Then what do you normally do when you have nothing planned? Sweep the steps all day?"

She must not be listening to me... He didn't move from his lax position again, instead he closed his eyes. Hiroyuki thought about what she said and the way she spoke. The Scizor decided that the stranger was an anime buff. He never really cared for them, but it seemed to be her focus. I suppose that's why she talk the way she does. Hiroyuki pressed the pack against his chin gingerly thinking about whether he should give the girl a real answer, or play along. Of course, the second option was more fun. His grin widened.
"Ah, haven't you heard? I have to keep this place as clean as possible or else the evil spirits will take away the dojo!" He was joking, but the girl didn't seem to really hear him, so he continued to drag out his silly lie. "Every night they come to make sure there isn't a speck of dust on the steps and that the floors are freshly waxed." Secretly, the man wondered how far this kid would believe him. He hoped for a while.

"Eeh, no way!" Miyabi seemed quite taken aback with the idea, but it excited her nevertheless. "Have you seen them? Are they all wispy with seaweedy hair and sunken eyes and shriveled hands? Are you sure they're evil ones? Do they have a hidden motive, like they're haunting this place for the revenge of some past wrong? Why clean though, wouldn't they rather have sacrifices or something? Oh wow, this is just like a horror story, only about now there would be a scream and we'd have to go investigate the body." She gave a little shudder, as if she was already hearing this soundless scream.

Hiroyuki laughed and opened his eyes. His head was still leaned back as he said in a spooky voice, "Oh, they are quite frightening. They have twelve arms with six fingers on each and they float, so it's a mystery how many legs they have." The man lifted his head and faced directly at the girl "They want the place clean because there was once a murder here and the spirits don't want people to find out." He neared her face with a smirk. "I used to have seven sisters you know, but one of them went missing when she didn't do her chores." Hiroyuki was lying since he ony had six sisters. The trick would work even if they came home or she looked at pictures. The Scizor was almost nose to nose with her now. "You know why this is called Aoi Dojo? The spirits are blue." Inwardly, Hiroyuki was laughing, but he kept himself serious to keep her under his spell.
