It was a hot day, and because of this Sun had taken her family to a lake that you could swim in. There were other families there and a lifeguard up in a very tall chair. Most of Sun's kids were playing together in the water except one.

Nadia was off away from the others. Not only did she not want much to do with most of the rest of her family, but she was looking for interesting things in the sand. It wasn't that she didn't like Edmund or Gavin, it was Kei and Willow she wanted nothing to do with. So instead she had decided to spend her day doing whatever the others weren't. So far on her search she'd found a couple colored pieces of glass worn smooth from the water, and some interesting rocks. She didn't plan on keeping them, they were just glass and rocks, but they were interesting for the moment.

Something had caused a distraction at the house, leaving Silas unattended again. But unlike usual, he wasn't content staying in his room minding his own business. No, he wanted to explore like his siblings did. He took delight in hearing the stories Momo told of her adventures, and wanted to see if he could have one himself. Of course, he never took into consideration his inability to stay focused for too long.

Having wandered around for quite some time, Silas chanced upon the lake the others were playing at. He couldn't swim, but he happened to spy a girl that was exploring the shore rather than the water. Well, he could do that. And so he toddled down to the shore with uneasy footsteps, bordering on reality and zoning out into some fantasy world. The idea of a lake sparked the memory of a dream he'd had, one with mermaids and sea monsters. Despite the monsters it had actually been pretty good.

Eventually he was standing next to Nadia without any recollection of how he'd gotten there, but it didn't matter, he was at his target point and that was just fine with him. "Hi..." He stated shyly, fidgeting a little. "I'm Silas. Hoo arr yuu?" He tiled his head to the side and did his best to put on a smile, but it turned out a little more lazy than intended.

Nadia didn't fail to notice the boy approaching her. She gave him a sidelong glance observing what she could of him. He was different...special like her and her brothers. That was in his favor. So as he greeted her, Nadia decided she'd deign to greet him back.

As Nadia gave him a smile she saw the fidgeting. Fidgeting meant he was shy like Edmund. Shy didn't bother her, it was a pretty normal reaction. "Hi, I'm Nadia. Nice to meet you." she made an effort to enunciate clearly, though she didn't mind that Silas didn't, it was normal for their age after all. His smile came off as lazy to her, which was a bit of a confusing point, but she decided not to focus on it too much. As she offered him her hand to shake she decided to ask him more about why he was here. "Did you come to the lake to swim?"

"Naiss to meet yuu too." He offered a more genuine smile as soon as she reacted pleasantly to his sudden appearance. "Uhhmm..." He paused, looking out at the lake. It took him a good two minutes to remember why he left the house in the first place.

"No no, I wan'ed to have 'ventures like Momo. Can't swim." He shook his head with a frown. "Nana 'n Mummy not teach me yet. Said they would." The lazy smile returned, making him appear less than awake or not entirely in touch with reality. "What'chu doin'?" He tilted his head to the side with a curious look, or well, his best attempt at a curious look.

As best Nadia could figure, this boy must have just woken up from a nap. He kept giving her lazy smiles and seemed to take longer then normal to answer her questions. Still, no red flags of weirdness went off in Nadia's head, so she was more then willing to try to make friends. There was a serious lack of normal people around. Making sure to speak slowly so her words continued to come out right she began to reply.

"Who is "Momo"?" It sounded like a sister, but Nadia wanted clarification. "I can't swim either. I just go in to here." She moved her free hand to gesture to around her hips. "I'm looking for things in the sand. See?" She held out her small handful of sea glass and interesting rocks for Silas to look at if he wanted. "Gavin said there might be treasure. But this is all I've found."

Gavin had told Nadia and her other siblings there could be treasure in the sand while they rode in the car. Nadia didn't really believe that though. Who would be stupid enough to bury treasure at a public lake?

"Oh... Momo's m'sissy." He nodded his head a bit, "I has a lot of sibbins." At the later statement, yet another smile appeared. "I shudda brot a bavin' suut then, I dun wanna get m'clothes wet." He frowned, looking out to the water and staring at something that wasn't there for a look long moment before looking back to Nadia. "Those're cool, c'n I help?" He looked down at the sand beneath them, as if expecting to see something right then and there. Well, the poor kid couldn't be expected to know anything about treasure hunting, it was his first time out of the house after all.

Nadia gave understanding nods as Silas spoke to her. Though she couldn't quite control the look of confusion as he stared off into the lake. Was there something in there? Ew. She was glad she wasn't swimming after all.

"We don't have to go swimming. The water is probably gross anyway." Nadia watched him unsuccessfully look for things in the sand. "Oh, you have to hunt for them. You can usually see them a little." She scanned the ground looking for one and then pointed. "See?" She gave him a reassuring smile. Maybe this kid didn't get out much.

Nadia then resumed her searching giving him occasional glances. "I have lots of sibbins..." She paused looking for the right way to say the word. "Sib-i-lings. I have lots of siblings too. I have four."

"Yeah, prolly... is a lake." Silas nodded his head a bit. He watcher her example, and then lit up with a smile when she found something. "Oh! Okey, I gets it nao." He giggled lightly and then crouched down to dig about with his hands, not really minding the sand getting all over him. "Realleh? I gots three. Momo, Sissy an' Luci. Sissy 'n Luci get all the 'tentions tho. They not very good."

Nadia felt a sense of relief when Silas seemed to grasp how to go hunting for things in the sand. It was good to know he wasn't stupid and maybe just never been taught something like that before.

"I've got four. I'm the youngest. Edmund is oldest, then Gavin, then Keiran, and then Willow. Mom gives us all 'tention." Nadia picked up on the work Silas had used, but didn't really feel like correcting herself even though she got the sense it wasn't quite right. "Kei and Willow are 'nnoying though. How come your siblings are bad?" She peered at him inquisitively wondering what exactly he meant by that.

"Yer Mummy can give you all 'tentions?" Silas seemed genuinely surprised at the idea. He had two mommy's and a grandmother, and yet he never got attention. "I 'unno... Sissy makes lotsa messes and dusn't lissen. Luci says bad werds sumtaims, an' get's relleh mad at Sissy. So Mummy 'n Nana have to pay more 'tentions to them, so me 'n Momo ne'er get any. Gramma dusn't even play wif us." Silas shrugged a little. For someone seemingly so neglected he didn't seem to particularly mind.

"How's yer Mummy give you all 'tentions? Is yer sibbins all good?" He pushed at the sand beneath his feet, making a lame attempt at seeing if there was anything buried underneath it.

Nadia gave a nod as Silas spoke. "Sounds like they get into lots of trouble. No wonder they get the attention." She dug around in the sand as well finding a piece of blue glass that had been rounded from being in the sand. As she bent to wash it off in the water a bit she tilted her head thoughtfully at the question about the siblings. "Well Edmund is really good, he never does anything bad. Gavin is bad sometimes, but Mom never gets that mad at him. Kei and Willow are weird, but I guess they're pretty good. Dunno, guess my Mom just makes sure to give us turns at attention." She gave a little shrug.

Honestly Nadia didn't know how her mom did it, it seemed like it would be annoying to have so many kids. She glanced at Silas digging kind of uselessly in the sand and handed him the piece of blue glass she'd found. "You want it?"

"Huh... yer mommy must be reely gud then. She shud give my mommies lessons." He smiled a bit, finding that amusing. It might have worked though, if someone else stepped in to teach his parents how to BE parents. He looked up at the glass Nadia was offering him. "Oh, thanku. I keeps if ferever naiss 'n sayf." He took it and then put it into one of his pockets and gave it a nice pat. "You find lotsa stuffs. Issit cause peeple leev it heer?"

A surprised little laugh left Nadia's lips at Silas's suggestion. "She'd probably like giving Mommy lessons. I think she'd think it was sad you and Momo didn't get attention." She couldn't help but feel a little pleased that he wanted to keep the glass as well. "You're welcome." She gave a little shrug as if to say it was really nothing. "I guess so. I guess they don't notice when they drop things." She continued to dig around int he sand with Silas. She found herself feeling strangely attached to him. It was strange only because she thought that normally she would find Silas very weird.

"Mebbe I can get mai mummies to agree to lessons then." The lazy smile returned once more. "I gess the sand dusn't mayk noyz when stuffs falls onnit." To prove his point, he pulled the piece of glass out again and dropped it on the sand. Satisfied that no sound was really made, he picked it up and put it back into his pocket. "Mayks this playss relleh dangeruss fer stuffs you laik." He nodded a bit.

"Maybe you can." Nadia agreed, though she thought that Silas's mommies might get upset if he asked. It served them right for neglecting their kids in Nadia's mind. She watched at Silas demonstrated the fact that things fell silently on the sand. "I guess so. Good thing I didn't bring anything important."

Glancing back at her family, Nadia could see that Sun was starting to pack up her things and search the shore for her kids. She would have to leave soon. Nadia turned back to Silas. "It looks like we're getting ready to go. I should go over to my Mom. Bye Silas, nice to meet you. We should play again."
