Well, I've been going mad on the classic horror front as of late, out of simple lack fo any other DVds to get until some come out. I will just repeat, yet again, that the Phantasm Sphere is the shiniest thing ever. Anyways... Hellraiser trilogy box set: I originally got interested in these beause of the really rather decent comic spin-off, and more importantly the issue Gaiman and McKean did. There are 8 films, but they only bothered to put the first 3 in a set. From what I hear of the others, this is probably a good thing.... Hellraiser 1 and 2 go together. Same actors, same running plot, and combined a brilliant piece of psychological, nightmarish, disturbing stuff. Hellraiser 2 is the better half, and the first tends to focus rather too much on a pair of unsympathetic characters, but this is very unlike other horror I've seen, and bursting with many ideas of the sort that are vaguely reminiscent of Gaiman at his most twisted_ I can see why he dicided to do a take on it. Hellraiser 3 is the mass-market crap one, with one-liners, focusing on an iconic monster killing people. It's watchable, but really a little iffy. Basically, the point at which horror sequal syndrome begins to hit the franchise. (Returns to wating for Serenity, Howl's Moving Castle and Porco Rosso)

Xagarath Ankor (Returns to wating for Serenity, Howl's Moving Castle and Porco Rosso) At least all three now have release dates. Studio Ghibli seem to be churning out almost their entire back catalogue in the next three months or so.

Barring, to my continuing annoyance, My Neighbour Totoro... though I;ve also been told (by you, I think) that we get Whisper of the Heart soon. On the plus side, Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Pulse has been confirmed by Optimum for a March 27th release. I am immensely cheered, as I was thinking of resorting to import to get the guy's films...

But we are getting Totoro: http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=search&searchtype=allproducts&searchstring=totoro&page=searchSee? Just search for "studio ghibli" and there're all sorts of goodies. Warnersister Other than that, I just invested in the R1 Serenity, since I'm not waiting for R2. Having said that, I've been so busy at work (and my Doctor Who books so numerous) I've not watched it yet. I've heard that it's actually worth waiting where Serenity's concerned, since there's no two regions been announced as having the samne special features yet, not all've been unveiled, and Whedon allegedly likes us folks over here in R2.

The words "Uk exclusive material" have been being bandied around a lot, tis true... (looks at link) So.. they're releasing it roughly alongside Howl. Can't say I'm surprised... Thanks, though.

My latest DVD.... is a film I bought after seeing the tagline: "Love. Music. Horror. Volcanoes." Having watched the first minute, it appears to be entertainingly off-the-wall.
The film in question is the Happiness of the Kakamaris, a black comedy/ sound of music-esque musical/horror/claymation that's meant to be generally good and unbelieveably bizarre. I'll post more when I've watched it...
(But I do have secret hopes this might finally be the singing zombies I've been searching for)

Sadly, my viewing experience of the above madness has been eclipsed by the incredible Rosemary's Baby. Drawing menace and a tremendous sense of creeping doom from middle-class americans has me much impressed...

Which episode was dire? Have you seen the Oddball Run Around? I absolutely adore that one. There's something delightful in watching DM try and fail to get into the Baron's castle for an entire episode. Plus, I love Mad Manuel the Flamenco Assassin...
I *need* to get hold of Danger Mouse on the Orient Express. I swear that's the funniest episode ever and incontrovertible proof that whatever was in the paint they used was *not* healthy wink

I need to save up for Wolfs Rain.
I was hoping to see it at Furcon, being it a film that involves furs of all things.
But no luck, so I need to do some saving and go through Amazon.
