It had been a few months since Nefertari had acquired a little 'slave' that she was able to boss around constantly. It was lovely; she didn't have to raise a paw as Jump would do everything for her. He would hunt, find little berries for her, find her places to take either small naps or baths; just everything. Of course, as self-centered and selfish as she was, she found no need to thank him. After all, he didn't run away or ever complain. Rather, he stayed pretty silent most of the time. It could be rather unnerving at times, just listening to her own voice, but the peace was sometimes nice.
Today, she was sunning, reclining in the middle of a field that was covered in small pretty wildflowers, enjoying the sun on her saddleless back. Nefertari let out a content sigh, as she stretched out like a cat. "Jump." she called out lazily.

Jump padded along the borders of Nefertari’s resting place, silently keeping watch for anything that endangered her peace. It had been a few months since he had first met her or, more specifically, a few months since she had found him lost, alone, and close to the edge of death. She had been his savior, whether she knew it or not, and now she was his goddess, his everything.
“Yes?” he replied when she called, softly, yet loud enough for her to hear him easily. At first, he wasn’t used to speech, and he still wasn’t. But he knew that complete silence discomforted his mistress, so he took the effort to respond every time she addressed him, even if they were short. But that wasn’t the only change he had made since she had come into his life.
He went to her, his gait smooth, sinuous, and refined. It was completely different from the haggard steps he had first taken when he was introduced to the forest. He was used to his way of life now. No longer did he wait to be fed or grow uncertain when savage creatures threatened him. No. Hunting had become nearly effortless for one as he, and anything that was in the way of his mistress’ wishes were set aside – even forcefully, if need be. He would, after all, do anything for her.

Nefertari smiled at Jump, always feeling a little jealous of his pelt as hers was rather plain. But, she realized, nothing in the world was as pure a white as her pelt. Even snow wasn't that white.
"The flowers are looking rather nice today." she said airily, "I want a small posy that I could fit next to the flowers in my ear." she sat up much like a cat, her fluffy tail wrapping around her legs. "Would you be so kind as to do that for me?" the fox asked, smiling as her tone of voice was unusually kind. It was only (slightly) fair. Jump did everything she asked without thinking twice or getting annoyed at her. With someone as obedient as him, why would she need to get mad at him?

Jump felt a small stirring of happiness well up in him with his master’s unexpectedly kind demeanor. Another might have despised being in servitude, but this life was all he knew, and, therefore, all he wanted. Having a master such as her was enough for him. He was content with his lot and did not wish for more or less past his master’s happiness, and to see her so pleased, to know that, in her eyes, he had done well – it was enough.
“I will,” he told her. Dipping his head respectfully, he backed away from her presence before turning and heading towards a bush of posies he had seen before. He made sure he didn’t stray too far, so that his mistress wouldn’t have to strain her voice to call him if he was urgently needed and that, in times of danger, it would take him only a few moments to reach. Still, his steps were speedy, but light, for he had no intention to keep his master waiting more than was needed.
Soon, he returned to her, his body low and submissive. Held delicately in his mouth was a small posy, red and beautiful but not so bright so as to draw attention away from herself, or the larger flower she so favored. Setting it down gently before her, he asked, “Is this to your liking, mistress?"

Nefertari smiled, taking the posy and tucking it behind her ear, "Beautiful as always Jump." she said. She would have to go to a lake or something later to check out her reflection. The posy was lovely and fragrant. Good work as always, Jump, she thought to herself.
Stretching herself out, stifling a yawn, the fox looked at the tiger, "What should we do today?" she asked. Not that he would really give her an answer. The only thing he did was follow orders. And she didn't go around following orders. Napping seemed out of the question, even though it was a very pleasing option. Nefertari didn't feel like wasting her whole day sleeping. And what would Jump be doing during that time? Nothing. Which was a complete waste of time.

Inside, Jump was grateful to hear his mistress was pleased with what he had found. He never grew overconfident with his abilities, however, for the numerous mistakes he had made when they first met was enough to humble him, and let him know that, despite how much he had changed since then, he had started poorly and could very well end up the same way if he wasn't careful.
The feeling wasn't reflected in his appearance, however. His lips were always flat and emotionless, and although his eyes were bright, and his ears alert, with one always turned in his mistress' direction and the other outward, they were for the sake of his master, so that he would always be aware of the things that could possibly harm or interest his mistress in any way, no matter where it came from.
When she had tucked the posy in her ear, and he had glanced at it quickly (it would have been rude to turn his face towards his mistress and look at her for long, after all, especially if he had done is so openly) but long enough to ensure it was firm in place and wouldn't fall off too soon, he turned slightly away, so that he was looking towards the bordering trees and not her resting form.
Soon, a question was asked (one that touched him because she had said "we" and not "I," although, again, he showed no physical response. These, besides the sadness and shame he felt when he was reprimanded, were perhaps the only time he felt anything resembling feelings) and he pondered over it. Before, he might have told her that, if there was anything she wanted to do or anywhere she wanted to go, he would do his best to help her see it through. But now, he knew that if she had known what she wanted, she wouldn't have asked, and only an annoyed remark would have been received. And so he thought it over, offering her ideas as it came to him so that she would not have to wait long for a response.
"Would you like to go for a walk, mistress, and see the rest of the forest? Or visit the beach? If you would like, I can find some food for you, or a clean river for you to wash, or a more open field so that the sun may reach you better," he said, presenting to her suggestions, but no certain answers. It was one of the few times he had spoken longer than usual for, having been with her as long as he had, he grew accustomed to know what she liked and was easily able to recall them.

"Hmmmm..." she merely said, thinking over the options that Jump had presented. Nefertari stretched out, "A walk sounds lovely..." as did all the other options. Though it seemed a little too cold for the beach. And the sand inbetween her toes and her fur was a little to blech sometimes. Laying underneath the sun all day seemed like a waste of a nice day, no matter how pleasant it was.
"Maybe," she started brightly, getting up to her paws, "We'll take a walk and see what interesting thing comes along?" without waiting for Jump's response, the white fox walked back into the forest, lightly shivering as the forest was cooler than the field.

"As you wish," Jump said, falling behind her in such a smooth, natural motion that it was obvious he had done this many times before. He couldn't, after all, try and show he was superior by walking in front of her; only she had the right to lead, and he had the privilege to follow. Still, that didn't mean he had never done so. If she required it of him, say, if a lowly beast tried to attack her, he would no doubt put himself before her and offer what protection he was able to give.
And, speaking of which... He raised his ears, always attentive towards their surroundings so that his mistress wouldn't have to worry herself with such things. His head was held low so that she, in her smaller fox body, would not have to look up at him when she chose to address him (if she deemed it worth her time to look at him at all), but instead look below. Despite that, he was able to look around, taking care that his eyes would find what his ears would see.
The forest was dangerous, after all. Very much so compared to his life in a cage. He had to be ready at all times, and this he planned to fulfill to the best of his abilities.
