It says in the explanation that you shouldn't, because doing so would be lame or somesuch- but in the end it's the users gold and it'd be considered a donation.

I wish there was a way to give tips anonymously. I would love to scamper merrily through the WTG forum, tossing out tips to newbies (as they're the only ones who would truly appreciate 25g) but I don't want to be eaten alive by beggars who see my name in the tip jar.
