It had been raining non stop, the grass was all squishy, and all the lush plants were beginning to wilt and no new growth in days. Karvanis sat under dense covering of a nearby tree, watching as the water ran downhill, flooding the poor helpless plant life growing on the hill side. No matter what it was, all life needed to be protected, and small helpless plants especially needed the protection of the big and strong. Analyzing the hill side, Karvanis came up with a plan to help protect the little flowers from constant flooding of water.

Standing from his rock, Karvanis moved towards the top of the hill, and began digging a deep hole. This hole would be the start of a trench that would send the bulk of the water away from the helpless plants.

"More rain, more rain..." the green lioness commented to herself as she woke with a droplet. When she had fallen asleep under this particular tree, it had just let up to a light sprinkle, she'd taken a nap on accident. However... Well, she thought it would clear up. But no, there was more. "Hey, tell me something, you can get too much water, right?" she asked the plants.

"Yeah, that's right," they responded around her. Their very voices sounded wet and soggy, there was a sort of bubbly tone to it. "We need water, but we can also get too much, not unlike you. You need it to drink, but you can also drown in it and die."

Natsu didn't like the sound of that. "I don't think there's anything I can do to help, is there?" she asked them around her, having a hopeless, sinking feeling. She was only a mortal, after all, how could she stop the rain from falling?

"I don't know of a way you can do it, just wait out the storm with us," it said around her. She had risen to her feet and started to walk, her ears pressed against her skull in the storm.

They perked up, however, at the sound of someone nearby. She didn't know who it was, but they were moving about. Picking up her pace to see who it was, she spotted a bright lion- not unlike herself, but in different colors- doing... something. He was up at the top of the hill, and was... digging? What awful conditions to be doing that. Natsu started to pad up the hill, carefully parting the grass as she walked so as not to hurt any of the grass or flowers.

"Hey there! Whatcha doin' out in this rain?" she called, lowering her voice as she got closer.

Karvs was fairly deep by this point, almost half way up his legs, he peaked up from digging and noticed the lovely green Lioness, standing just a short ways away from her. Karvs looked to her, smiling he looked down hill to the patch of vibrant flowers. "So much water, its almost unnatural." he continued to dig as he talked the lovely lioness.."Those little guys down there, they're not doing so good." he picked up his pace, as the water was almost already overflowing from his hole.

He began digging in the direction of the female; tossing the dirt up in the direction of the flowers, using it to make that wall a little higher. He was worried he couldn't dig fast enough, and nothing burdened his heart more then being unable to protect the weak. He peered his head up once against and sighed heavily. "I figured maybe if I could make the water detour away from them, they could survive this blasted weather. Alas, I don't think I can make it!" he said with great desperation.

Natsu listened as he dug to what he was saying. "You- you're trying to save the plants?" she asked him, the plants muttering happily in response in the background. Natsu wondered if his muse was plants, too, but it almost didn't seem like it... She thought he would address them a bit differently if that were the case. Still, one way or another, he was trying to do the very thing she thought was impossible- save the plants from drowning!"

She padded quickly but smoothly up the slope to where he was, avoiding the flying mud as much as she could. "Wow, you're so brave! Tell me what I can do to help, certainly I can help, right?" she asked, suddenly eager to get her paws dirty. "I'm sure we can save them from a watery demise, especially if we work together!"

Her muse seemed to all say "YEAH" from around her, firing her up to get some work done. Her bangs flopped in her face from all of the water, but her ears had come up and she was rearing to help save members of her muse!

Looking around his hole, Karvs pushed forward a bit and made room for her to jump on in. "If you don't mind the dirt, your welcome to help me dig in the opposite direction." he smiled at her as he continued to dig in the same direction he was before. He was eager to accept the help of the lioness, he knew this was no small task before him.

"If we hurry, we can still save them all." he picked up his pace, digging faster then before, he was on a mission. He could feel the stars smiling down on him, approving of this task. No feat of heroism was too small, or to insignificant for Karvs.

"I don't mind at all, especially if it's in order to save the plants!" Natsu said, hopping briskly over to the one side. Many lions would complain that this was miserable, and no fun at all. Yes, that's what most would say, but Natsu was driven, and this guy's enthusiasm was contagious to her. She wondered what his name was...

"Ask him- he's got the courtesy to care about us, too! We'd like to know his name," Her muse said.

"So, my name's Natsuki. Natsu for short," she said between scoops- the mud was pretty heavy and she made sure that as much water was strained out as possible before flinging it out of the hole. (It wouldn't make sense to be scooping water out if gathering water was the purpose of this hole, after all.) "What's yours?" Natsu asked, giving him a sideways glance.

Head down, digging away Karvs replied "Karvanis-" pausing, to look back at her "Super Karvanis" he said with such confidence and distinction. Ever since coming to these lands, Karvs has had no doubt what so ever in who he was, and what his mission was. Believing so firmly, that he was once a star, Karvs took on any task with a level of honor and dignity that could bring him up above the standard grade of most lions.

Starting to distance himself now from the lioness, the trench now taking shape and just now curving away from the flowers, Karvs would take any chance to glance over to the lovely green lioness. He thought she was quite beautiful, and couldn't help be glance over at her striking form.

Natsu looked over to him as he said his name. "You guys heard him, right? Now you know his name," she said to the plants around her as she dug. "Super Karvanis," she repeated, tying the name to the face with a smile. She continued to dig out the channel, quite pleased with the result despite the fact that she was sopped to the bone. However, she had looked at him and found herself... staring, really. He was really brave to take on a task so large on his own, but it didn't end there. No, he was compassionate enough to even think of the flowers and grass in this weather, and strong enough to get the job done. At that thought, she kinda checked him out- he was strongly built. And he had a handsome determined face, even though his mane was probably de-poofed from its regular form.

Her work had slowed as she analyzed his own form. And then he glanced over! Oh crap, he saw me staring. I'm sure he saw me staring- that's awkward, Natsuki thought to herself. The plants chuckled, spirits rising, at that thought that ran through her head.

"So, uh, Super Karvanis," she said, trying to break the small silence that had fallen. "Are plants your muse?" she asked, wondering if he was driven by the same force, or if this was just a random act of kindness.

"..Muse?" he he said out loud as he thought the word over. He wondered at first what she meant by it when suddenly he heard the stars speaking to him. 'Do not let her know you are not of this world, tell her your muse are the Stars and that shall be sufficient.' and the voice was gone. But he understood now what the lioness meant.

"I'm afraid not." he said a moment later, still digging away. He waited a moment to allow her to respond before he followed up with "My muse, is the stars." said with the same tone of confidence from earlier. He was a bit of ways away from her now, already heading down and away from the flowers with the trench. He knew he was making great time, but was worried about the lioness. Not all lions workout so diligently as Karvs does, nor do they all share the same strength and speed.

She was genuinely starting to slow down now, and that upset her. Natsu wanted to do everything she could to save members of her muse, but her body didn't seem entirely up to the task. She would shovel out a bit, take a few breaths, then shovel out more- definitely slower. She carried on conversation, though, like she was not fatigued, trying to cover it up somehow. "Yeah, you know... Your guide in this life. It's just that, well... You cared so much about the plants to try to save them, I was just feeling hopeless because I couldn't do much about all of this rain." But she saw now- it truly was an act of kindness towards someone that couldn't speak to you.

"See, the plants speak to me, they were just lamenting that they were drowning, but I can't stop the rain, you know? But they're saying 'thank you very much!' to you, you've really made a difference already!" Natsuki said, brightening. Well, emotionally. She was still feeling pretty tired. She flipped her bangs out of her face and dug out one more pawful before stopping and needing to catch her breath. "It's a lot of work, moving this much earth, huh?" she said with a sheepish grin, embarrassed that she couldn't keep up. It seemed that the lioness was built more for walking distances in search of herbs, or knowing how to use them, than for hard work.

Karvs was finally done with his side of the trench, he crawled out covered in mud but stood proud none the less. The heavy ran washed away the mud from his coat, allowing the Vibrant colors to once again stick out like a sore thumb. "All life, big and small, need help sometimes. It is only ones dude to protect them." he said in response to her, his eyes now watching her struggle to continue in her own side of the trench.

Walking up along the back side of the trench and keeping his eyes fixated on her, he came up and stood over her as she continued her struggle. Saying gently, not trying to offend her "Would you like to take a break? My side is done and I can keep going for you." said with a sincere smile on his face. He not only worried about the plants safety, but for her health. Digging in the mud, during a rainstorm especially was no easy task and not everyone was built to do such demanding labor.

Natsu watched him come over and listened to his offer. She wasn't offended in the least, but she was embarrassed. She thought she could at least do this one little thing...

"I would like to keep trying," she said with a smile, one that she hoped showed that she had no offense. "But maybe a little help?" She asked, not paying attention to her surroundings for a bit as she looked to Karvanis, a little blush under her fur.

The ground gave way under her all of a sudden, and she started to slip into the trench. Her only thoughts were on how much more work this would make, not about... well, any injury that may befall her. She let out a little cry of shock as she fell.

Instinctively leaping behind her, Karvs pressed up against her as he used his body to brace and catch her. Struggling to get a good footing, he plunges his feet deep into the mud, anchoring himself in place and letting her rest on him. He could hear the stars giggling and cheering him on as he caught her before she was swept away.

"Are you alright?" He asked with great sincerity. Looking over her to see if she had been openly injured anywhere, a light blush be falling his face as he looked at her up close. She was very beautiful, and even under the smell of wet fur and mid, he could smell the subtle hint of a warm spring day.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine," she said, blushing furiously under her fur. "I didn't mean to slip like that, I guess I need to work out a bit more, or something," she said with a sheepish grin, carefully trying to regain some solid footing... "But... Thank you, you saved me!" she said, turning to face him once she was on some solid ground. "I'm sure I would have gotten hurt if you hadn't have been there," Natsu said with a smile. He really had saved her life, and, well, she thought he looked even more handsome than before! Not just anyone would save someone like that.

She wasn't sure if she should finish up the trench or not, but, well, now she didn't want to. She had noticed earlier when digging with Karvanis that he was well built, but he was also kind, and... well, Natsu liked being around him, she could tell that much right now.

The rain had started to calm, to a light drizzle. At first, Karvs didn't notice, he was to busy looking into Natsu's eyes. He was mesmerized by her beauty at this point. Even with all the mud, and the wet fur smell filling the air, he couldn't help but stare.

Finally noticing that the rain was stopping, Karvs cleared his throat and looked towards the flowers. "They seem to have survived." looking back to her, smiling. He was glad he was able to help the flowers, and he was glad he met her. The night was already creeping up on them, it had been a long and tiring day. Karvs wanted to wash out the mud from his fur before laying down for the night, but didn't want to lose Natsu's company. "Well, we should probably get washed up" he said as he blushed "Would you care to join me?"
