Sorry to be such a downer, but can you tell the rest of us why they're such good books? I don't confine myself to the fantasy genre so I have no idea what you are talking about.

Fairly good, A Great and Terrible Beauty was. Not too much action. I haven't picked up Rebel Angels yet. Hopefully it will impress me more than the first.

I LOVE THESE BOOKS! I have read both Rebel Angels and A Great and Terrible beauty. They are very inspiring, they remind me a bit of Harry Potter. They are in this great magical realm and figth evil.I couldn't put down these books. Spoiler: Mrs Moore in rebel angels is ceirce

I don't confine myself to the fantasy genre so I have no idea what you are talking about. is about a sixteen year old girl named Gemma who is sent to go to a boarding school called Spence after her mother's forced suicide. There visions follow her, school girls challenge her, and the ever watching Kartik demands for her to shut out the visions. Rebel Angels is the sequel to the novel A Great and Terrible Beauty after destroying the runes Gemma, Ann, Felecity, and Pippa are determined to find the hidden Temple to bind the magic back and restore power to the Order. But betrayal is in the midsts... a traitor is hiding somewhere... Not the best summaries but I hope it helps. They are very good books.

I loved those books. I hope there's going to be another one. Does anyone else feel like Gemma and Kartik should be dating already? That sounds stupid, I know, but that's what I kept thinking everytime they were in the same room together.

They are brilliant books. Libba Bray has by far become one of my favourite authors because of these two. Her setting of the Victorian era is a good idea and the way she describes it is perfectly balanced with the amount of dialogue she puts in. (I dislike novels with too much description) I also like her protagonist. The way she imagines her story is brilliant, it's so creative and astounding. I could go on forever praising it, I think.
I kind of agree with you golden_eyed_mystery about Kartik and Gemma. I want them to get together but I see why they're hesitant. I suppose there's reason for it.
For some reason I'm thinking that I read somewhere that it's supposed to be a trilogy.

I have only read a Great and Terrible Beauty but it was wonderful. I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Rebel Angels!

I finally got a hold of A Great and Terrible Beauty last week. I have a few more chapters to go. I love it so far. I would be done already, but school and work take up a large chunk of time.
