I have lucked out, and come across plenty of books that I would consider essential for a well read lady. My favorite find, though, would have to be the hard bound, gold embossed edition of 'Darwin's Origin of Species' that came with it's own box cover. Which had been taken to my county land fill. Thankfully, they have a book barn where any books in decent condition are sold for a nickel.
What books would you love to have in your steampunk library?

my own personal library (well, the 2 ceiling high, wall covering, bookshelves taking up 2 entire walls in my room) includes a huge variety of books, from Modern Military History, to Ancient Rome/Greece, to a shelf of boks around Victorian England, to fictional novels of various setting (inlcuding the Mortal Engines series and all of its prequel series; the Fever Crumb series) to literally hundreds of my own notebooks and sketchbooks, to comic books (including all 12 issues of the LOVELY steampunk comic book "Steampunk" and all 8 hardback printed volume of the "Girl Genius" comic book) the only part of the entire 2 walls that isnt books are the bottom 3 shelves of one wall, which are lined with hundreds of videogames which i have collected over the past 12 years since i started gaming (i dont sell games, even if they are just awful, i keep them)

I wish I had that much shelf space. I moved to a much smaller place, and the only bookshelf I have doesn't hold all of my books, so they are mostly tucked away in bags and boxes. I have a lot of historical fantasy novels, books on nature, art, and classical literature, when I can find them. But I haven't been able to get many new books due to lack of space.

i guess im lucky that i dont have to move out for Uni, as i would be kinda screwed then... thank god im still only 18 though, i can still live with my parents without being forced to move out! haha
but yeah, we have a pretty good house i guess. i read too much and play too many videogames, hence the shear number of books i own. i tend to just see stuff online and think "that looks awesome... add to cart... checkouts... done!" so quite often my parents will hand me multiple parcels from various places on a monday morning, mostly containing books, gadgets or gifts for my GF (i also work a LOT, so i get enough money to get nice stuff for both me and her, but i wont be working anywhere near as much when i go to uni...)
god... i sound like im bragging actually, i didnt mean it to sound like that...... sorry...

It's okay to be proud of making enough to get the things you like, and be able to get things for someone else. biggrin I know I will be, once my home business gets going.

My 'library' as some call it is built in stacks and one small book shelf. Mostly gothic horror stle novels, I have almost every Ravenloft novel...I love the setting! I have a copy of Boneshaker, a few Conan novel both old and new. Dark Sun novels..yet another lovely setting >>...MANGA! A bit of manga..including favorite series so far Zombie Loan. I read Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and hybrid of the two, and anything that seems interesting!
I have a little of everything pretty much, and I love my nerdyness of my books. I have no true 'life' as one would say...books..books are the blood in my veins...and..it seems Im bleeding since just saying that cause a stack to fall over...time to go book diving!...And hunting for my copy of Howl Moving Castle...

I've been meaning to get a start on a steampunk collection of my own, but I've already read a few books. My favorite being The Affinity Bridge by George Mann. 3nodding
Most of my other books consist of reference books (including a complete forensic science encyclopedia), different genres of fiction and nonfiction, and a couple manga series.

Shelves full of books of all kind (that my husband has all on catalogue), boxes of books because there is no more shelf space, a futon couch, a table with chairs and a closet full of junk. :O
