Aubrianna sighed, tying back her hair. She supposed she should try cooking something - after all, she'd invited all the prospective caretakers over for a little "meet and greet". She snorted at the idea - she would hate an event like this. Actually, she still did.

Still, Abolesce had recommended it. After all, they should meet one another and get used to each others' company. They'd be in it relatively often once the Dumyr arrived.

The scholar frowned at the ingredients before her. She just wanted to make brownies, what was so wrong with that? What was so hard about that?

Well, for starters, Dau could get out of the mixing bowl.

"Daumyin," she started, voice at a steady level. "Dau. I'd appreciate it if you could... move."

"It's comfy," he quipped back, looking at her and grinning. "I like it."

"I'm trying to make food!"

"Food, you? Hehehe... that's funny..."

"Daumyin!"

Kat's voice was only faintly heard by the two quarreling family members in the kitchen, so Sileust pulled herself up off of the couch and hopped over to the door, smoothing down her light blue dress. Her hair was tied back with a ribbon and her white doll joints slid easily over one another.

Opening the door, she smiled. "Hello! You must be one of the caretakers. Mother's cooking, so she couldn't answer the door. Come in!"

"Sileust," the woman chirped happily in response, stepping back towards the couch and waving Kat in. Sileust picked up a doll from the couch. It looked cobbled together, with a white doll's head and what was probably, by the size, an artist's manequin for a body. It was clothed in a dress made from a burlap potato sack and a bonet, and had straw for hair.

"And this is Galatea!" The little doll's eyes were pure white. She was quite obviously just a doll - nothing living.

Aubri was still arguing with Dau, and finally, fed up, picked him up by the scruff of the neck and carried him out to the living room.

"Ah, hello," Aubri grumbled, tossing Dau over onto the chair. "You're here a little early."

"That'd be the most annoying creature in the entire house," Aubri muttered crossly.

Dau beamed up at them, twitching an ear and curling his scaled tail around his paws.

"That's Dau," Sileust supplied, ignoring her mother's comment. "He's a Dumyr. That's what you're here for, right?"

"I'll get it!" Sileust rushed to the door, leaving Kat and Aubri and Dau behind. She opened it and smiled widely. "Hello! You must be here for the Dumyrciedel thing. Right? Am I right?" The doll giggled, bouncing a little on her toes. "Come in! Mom's gonna make brownies."

"She's going to poison us all," Dau interupted, walking up behind Sileust. He sat down on the carpeted floor, gazing up steadily at Maggie. "Don't trust the food that mom cooks."

"Oh, that's rude, Dau," Sileust murmured, frowning.

Dau laughed and stood, stretching.

Dau grinned back up at her. "Trying to save the world from mom's cooking! It's a tough job. She's a worthy opponent."

Aubri glanced over. "Watch it, Dau," she warned.

Sileust clutched Galatea to her chest and stood, watching for more visitors, a faint smile on her lips.

Hakim looked up at the house. It still seemed surprisingly normal. Not the place he would expect someone to be giving away mysterious creatures.
Shrugging to himself he smoothed down his chinlength hair and knocked at the door.
