Anybody know of a decent maker of MOLLE gear that's not too expensive? I've been looking at Protech because it's cheap. I'm sure it's not of very good quality, but I figure it will be "good enough" for a little while. Then I can piece it out with something better as I go and use the Protech as backup/spare parts.

To add to the possibilities of this discussion: feel free to talk about setups you might have, and why they work for you.

Also, if anybody knows of a good MOLLE-equipped pouch with the right dimensions for loaded Mosin Nagant stripper clips, feel free to mention them. I read somewhere that MOLLE 2 Hand Grenade pouches (such as this ) gave a good fit. But I don't know the dimensions for loaded stripper clips, just the measurements of the cartridge (of course).

Also, can anyone tell if this holster mounts vertically or horizontally? Because that's not mentioned, nor the amount of spaces it takes up on a vest. So, lame. Feel free to babble on about MOLLE systems like I have.

Last time I bought MOLLE gear, I just went shuffling through CheaperThanDirt. Worked out well enough, though one of the ones I bought was supply-your-own-nylon-straps, which sucked, but I had an old backpack I could cannibalize, so that worked.

I'd guess that mounts horizontally, for cross-draw. It's really the only way to mount a pistol on a vest or body armor.

Yeah, CTD is where I've been looking.

I've seen several holsters that seem to be mounted vertically. And I'm sure it's possible to do that. It just seems like grabbing the pistol from above at such an angle would be pretty awkward. I might just go with a thigh holster, but I like that that one comes in tigerstripe.

LA police gear has some close out 5.11 molle gear for cheap that feels pretty solid.

Didn't see much MOLLE gear there, 002300. Definitely not enough for a whole system. And I won't be ordering this stuff until after I get my Mosin, so the sale will probably be gone.

Well I wanted to set up the MOLLE system anyway, for handgun use and for when I have an AR/AK one of these days. So I figured I might as well set it up for use with the Mosin as well. No problem with having a convenient way to carry ammo associated with the system.

I would just get a cross-draw vest and grab a few of those leather stripper mags and put them on a duty belt on the bottom of the vest.
