Leap. Pounce. Leap. Pounce. This grasshopper sure knew how to have a good time. And while it was somewhat frustrating that she could never quite manage to catch it, the small insect provided a good amount of entertainment for the pup. Of course that entertainment had taken her away from the safety of the pack lands once again, but Mavican didn't notice. She was too intent on catching that grasshopper. Of course it would seem that the grasshopper was perhaps tiring of this game as it leapt into a thick bush. "Hey!" Mavican half shouted as it disappeared into a sea of green. "No fair, we not playing hide and seek." Sticking her head inside the bush the purple and gold pup tried to stop the insect, while her tail wagged happily, causing her back end to vibrate back and forth as it stuck out from the bush.

Phoebe lifted her head from her paws and yawned, pink tongue curling in her mouth. Tan ears swiveled about as bleary blue-green eyes scanned the underbrush for whatever disturbance had roused the female from her sleep. There. A flash of color in the sunlight. Suddenly not so tired any more, the female lifted her nose, but the wind was wrong, she couldn't catch a clear scent. Standing from the little nest she'd made the previous night, she shook the thick loam from her fur and padded forward through the thick vegetation, ears pricked and curiously trained on her target. Emerging from the forest, Phoebe found herself looking at an entertaining sight; a little purple and gold puppy rump sticking out of a bush and wagging happily back and forth. Phoebe's ears flickered in amusement and she watched for a moment before speaking up. Clearing her throat, she said, "Hello there."

The voice somewhat caught her off guard. Did the grasshopper just speak to her? Tail wagged even faster even though she quickly dismissed the idea since the voice had come from behind. Lifting her head Mavican poked it out from the bush, so that her back end was still sticking out of the bush, while her head was visible from the top of it. Glancing around she spotted a tan colored wolf standing now far away. "Hi!" She barked happily at this newcomer. "Did you see a grasshopper?" Perhaps the other wolf wanted to join in on the game with her.

Now that she was closer, Phoebe could smell the puppy clearly, but she couldn't catch the scent of any other adults nearby. Curious... and a little disturbing. What was she doing out here on her own? Where were her parents? Despite being alone, the puppy didn't seem to be afraid and Phoebe didn't see any reason to alarm her. Instead, Phoebe chuckled softly and shook her head, "I can't say that I have." Her own tail had started wagging happily back and forth in time with the puppy's. She took a few steps forward and sniffed the bush, "Did you lose one in here?"

So she hadn't seen the grasshopper, that's disappointing. Tail slowed a bit but still maintained a steady wagging characteristic of the happy pup. "Yes, I lost one. He jumped in here and..." Pulling her head back inside the bush Mavican looked around the leave trying to spot the small green insect but after a few moments say nothing. Popping her head back out from the bush, a few leaves stuck in her fur, she looked again at the adult. "I can't find it. We weren't supposed to be playing hide and seek."
Mavican stood silently for a few moments looking at the thing dangling from the females neck. Hey, now that was interesting. Wonder if it does anything. Slowly her eyes moved up to meet the females and then realized she should introduce herself to this stranger. "Mama says it's always polite to introduce yourself when you meet someone new. But I forgot to. I forget a lot. I'm Mavican! Who are you?"

Phoebe sat back on her haunches, tail still wagging, swishing the grass to and fro. She watched, amused as Mavican seemed to become enthralled by her shiny pendant for a moment. "I'm Phoebe. It's nice to meet you." She replied. So the pup did have parents, or a mother at least... Phoebe was sure she must be worried, wherever she is. "Mavican, where is your mother?" Her voice was gentle, in an attempt not to frighten the pup.
