Aiden hadn't had a conversation with Edmund in quite some time. Somewhere in his mind he admitted that it was because he and Mira seemed to be getting along so well, and somewhere even deeper inside he figured it was because they were starting to like each other. That was something he just couldn't come to terms with, and so he tended to avoid Edmund for awhile, only speaking to him if he had too. He even avoided Mira to an extent, just in case she felt the need to tell him.
But, that was coming to an end. Aiden realized he had to "man up" and deal with the inevitable, and it was only going to turn out bad if he kept himself at a safe distance from them. So he picked up a gardening book which also happened to have a chapter on glass garden decorations, and sought Edmund out.
Thankfully he didn't have to go too far, he found Edmund outside of their dorm, tending to the mini garden they were supposed to have started together. Aiden had missed out on that accidentally while purposely avoiding Edmund.
He made his way over to Edmund and sat down on the ground next to him, placing the book in his lap. "Hey... how's the garden?" He asked as nonchalantly as he could in an attempt to mask the awkward feeling he was getting. Somewhere in his head he was delighted to feel it, but at the same time, it really was..... awkward.

Edmund had been worrying about his friendship with Aiden for a little while now. They had seemed to be getting along great and Edmund had been really excited about being roommates and starting a garden. Then he noticed that the closer he got to Mira the farther Aiden seemed to drift. Edmund wasn't really sure what to do about it. He had no plans of distancing himself from Mira...he really liked her, and she liked him. But he was really upset about the idea of losing Aiden as a friend too. He'd been really disappointed when Aiden bailed out on the garden, but started it anyway, faithfully tending to it and secretly hoping maybe Aiden would join him in tending it one day.
Doing just that Edmund was kneeling in the garden pulling up weeds, slightly smudged with dirt along his arms, face, pants, and shirts. Suddenly he noticed someone else was walking over. He paused straightening up and wiping the sweat from his brow, leaving a path of dirt behind it. To his surprise it was Aiden making his way over. Edmund didn't know whether to be really happy or still feel upset about being avoided.
As Aiden spoke Edmund decided he was going to go with the first option. He gave Aiden a small smile. "It's going pretty good. Just pulling up some weeds, and then I was going to plant a few new plants." He picked up on the awkward that Aiden was feeling and he couldn't help but feel a little awkward too because of it. "So um....how have you been....?"

"I've been... okay, I guess." He figured that was the best reply, since he hadn't been doing bad, but he wouldn't call it good either. "That's neat... flowers or vegetables...? Or something else?" He tilted his head a bit, genuinely curious. He wanted to continue to conversation like that and avoid apologizing for his behavior, but he figured it would be better and less awkward to just get it out of the way.
"I'm..." He paused, biting his lip a bit. "I'm sorry I haven't been around, and that I wasn't around to start the garden with you...uh..." another pause before he flipped the book open. "I can probably make you a few of these if you want them?" He pointed at a few glass garden decorations in the book, one of which was designed to release water when plants needed it.

He was glad to hear Aiden wasn't doing badly, but Edmund had been hoping to hear that he was doing great instead of just ok. Edmund hoped Aiden hadn't been around just because of him and Mira rather then something more serious. Aiden didn't look like anything bad had happened to him though.
"Ah well....it's kind of a mix. Mainly flowers, but I put in some more decorative vegetables. There are some shrubs that I'm hoping to make into topiaries as they grow too." He gestured to some small shrubs. "Not sure what to make them into yet though."
As Aiden mentioned the glass decorations Edmund's face lit up. "Id love if you made some. They'd really add something to the garden, and it looks like they'd be useful too." He gave Aiden a soft happy smile. He looked away a bit. "And um... I understand if you weren't around before. I'm sure you've had stuff to do and umm on your mind."

"Sounds like it'll be beautiful when they're all fully grown." Aiden smiled a little, absentmindedly swaying from one foot to the other in a sort of display of how awkward he was feeling.
At the words Edmund said about him being gone, Aiden's face darkened a little, the smile disappeared. He couldn't just keep going on like nothing had happened, something had happened and it effected him whether he liked it or not. "I think... friends should be honest with each other, so... I'm going to be honest with you." He started, and immediately regretted saying it like that. "I-it's not bad or anything, really..." He added a moment later in an attempt to lighten the mood once more.
"I don't.. know if Mira told you, but we feel each others emotions, and each others pains and such so... I kind of put a distance between myself and the two of you because it.. helped? It felt a little awkward, knowing that you could make her that happy when I can't... and feeling like that, knowing that I was feeling that way because of something you were doing." He rubbed the back of his head, feeling more and more awkward as he spoke. "I-- I'm happy she's happy, so please don't like... think that I want you to stop it, I don't... it's just weird feeling... for me, but I'm getting used to it." He sighed. "that... sounded a lot better in my head..."

Edmund listened quietly as Aiden spoke. He didn't want to interrupt him, he wanted to hear all of what Aiden had to say. As Aiden finished speaking Edmund made a small contemplating noise.
"I..." Edmund paused as he gathered his thoughts, looking off to the side slightly. "I don't remember where I heard this or read it, but once I heard that twins were one soul in two bodies, I don't know if that's true but..." he returned his gaze to Aiden. "I think at the least they have an unspoken connection and... I kind of figured that's why you weren't around. I understand, it must be weird and..." He reached out placing his hand on Aiden's arm. "I'm glad you're happy for her...and I don't want to lose her, or lose you as a friend. You're both important to me in different ways. So I understand if you need to distance yourself from me and her sometimes."
Edmund looked at Aiden earnestly and then realized he was touching Aiden with his dirty hand. He dropped it and looked at the mark it let on Aiden's shirt. "Ah...um sorry." He gave an embarrassed little chuckle.

"I think I read that somewhere too... it makes sense with out situation, but at the same time... not at all." He laughed a little, adopting a bit of a smile on his face. He looked down at his shirt sleeve, and then brushed the excess dirt off. "It's fine Edmund, I expect gardening to be pretty messy... plus it'll wash out." He nodded and shrugged his shoulders a bit.
[....I feel a sense of ended-ness? Unless there was somewhere you wanted to take it...?]

Edmund nodded as Aiden spoke. "That makes sense." Then he smiled because Aiden gave a bit of a smile. He was happy that things were ok with him again, and hoped they could continue to be that way. "Yeah it should wash out. It always does for me. Did you want to plant some flowers?" Edmund gave Aiden another soft smile and settled in to work on the garden with him like he'd been wanting to all this time.

"Sure, that sounds like fun." Aiden knelt down next to Edmund, still smiling, and aided in the gardening.
