Quote:
Almost an hour after dawn, the sun climbing in the sky, the day begins to warm. At the scrubby edge of the forest and the foothills, the birds sing cheerful nonsense to fill the air. Tough bushes give way to evergreens and those give way to hard woods. At the edge of hearing a brook is burbling. The dew evaporates from leaves as sunlight filters down on the forest floor.

Dulph moves further into the forest, looking for berry bushes and breakfast. Making a note of the sounds of running water, he moved towards it, sure the bushes would grow closer to a brook or stream. The beauty of the day lost on him, Biddulphia merely moved forward because he knew he should. Long since having accepted his life as one of solitude, it no longer featured in his thoughts.

Rotom had been out making trouble for those around him again. But now he had grown tired, or more likely bored. He headed for the nearby river, usually other horses were around, and maybe he could find someone to chat with. The mares he lived with were off doing their own things, and that left him to his own devices.

But he had been growing up, he wasn't acting as childish as he use too, because he needed to get his life in order. He was dating a cute mare, and things were good on that end, but the rest of his life was in shambles.

He leaned forward after he got to the water, and he took a drink. Not hearing the other stallion making his way.

Still not having seen any berry bushes, Biddulphia wanders along the banks of the brook until it meets a river. Busy 'hunting' for food, Dulph doesn't immediately notice the other Usdia.

Spotting something orange just beyond a nearby bush, Dulph hopes for fruit of some variety and sets out in that direction. As he moves, he can see past the bush and notices that what he spied is not berries, but is . . .

Is that an Usdia? Or . . . where were his legs?

Stopping in his tracks, Biddulphia, for the first time in his life, has some twinkling of an idea what others must think when they see him.

It was then that Rotom's ears picked up the sounds and his head lifted. Another stallion. It had been a while since he had a male companion to chatter up.

"Hey! You!" He grinned, and walked through the water toward the other usdia. What a strange sight. That was a real horse right? He wasn't stone... He had seen some strange things in his days, but he wasn't to sure about this stallion. Where was that green glow coming from?

"Names Rotom."

Watching the other Usdia move through the water was really and eerie sight. The strange male seemed friendly enough and he wasn't attacking, so Dulph stood his ground to watch the approach.

Presuming that the stallion was indicating his own name, though his speech was less than precise, Biddulphia nods slightly in acknowledgment. "I am Biddulphia, though many shorten that to Dulph or Scum." His voice sounded metalic, like the slight buzz of vibrating metal, and was without inflection. Unable to refrain from speaking further, "You seem to have no legs, are you in pain? How do you locomote?" Suddenly realizing that the other might take offense at his questions, Dulph falls silent.

Rotom stopped near the other stallion and was staring at him when he spoke. It was a strange sound, and his speaking was very formal. But Rotom paid no mind to it, he spoke, and seemed to move so he was real horse.

"Legs?" Rotom looked down and then over at the mechanic seeming stallion. "I Have legs! But you can't see them well." Looking around he found some mud from the water, and he used her hose to rub it into one of his legs. "And no, it's not painful." Rotom gave Dulph a grin.

"Processing." He spoke to himself. It was rather fascinating, this Usdia's legs were transparent. Dulph nodded, "Transparent limbs. I would ask if you could become wholly invisible, but from your demonstration, it seems you have no control of the process. I am glad to hear it causes you no distress."

Having exhausted his thoughts on the matter, Biddulphia gives Rotom a friendly nod and slightly opens his mouth in the closest approximation to a smile he is able to accomplish. Biddulphia didn't often socialize, but he had observed the process, and made sure he had the forms down for when he did have the occasion.

"It is pleasant to meet you, Rotom." Dulph knew that was an appropriate greeting, but where to go from there, he was somewhat lost.

Rotom looked at the other. What a funny guy. He was taking a likely to the stallion already. And that thing he was doing with his mouth topped it all off. Rotom tried very hard not to laugh... But when he thought about it, he seemed to actaully lack emotion.

"Are you like... Real? Or fake? Horse I mean." Rotom asked in the most unoffensive way possible.

"I am real, though my origins are something of a mystery, even to myself. I do, however, seem to function as others do, though my outer skin is hardened almost to a metallic consistency. Are you real? By your inquiry, it is possible you, or others you have met, are not." Biddulphia tried to answer concisely, not quite certain as to the others intent.

"I have met questionable things once. I couldn't tell if they were real or not..." thinking about some of the soq he had seen while wandering around, and it let his mind drift away and he became more informal with the stallion in front of him.

"Oh well, Yes I am real. I was just born like this." He laughed some, and shrugged off all the formalities. "So you're not from around here I take it?"

"I most often dwell higher in the mountains. But the food is more abundant at these altitudes. Thus, I journey down here with some frequency. As for my place of birth, my memories are not intact, I remember only that I was driven from a field of grass by a large stallion." Dulph shifts his weight, wondering if the other stallion has had similar encounters, as Rotom was also different from more 'normal' Soquili.

"I do not recall having seen you before, are you also from elsewhere?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 23, 2010 6:55 am

Hm, so it would seem that this fella got chased out by a regular stallion go figure. some of those horses needed a good kick. Feh... Some of the ponies had bigger hearts then the horses!

"I live in the general area. There's a larger river a little ways from here that I have a home at. I venture out from there. So I know this area pretty well." Rotom nodded. "Since you come here looking for food, maybe we should get some food. I don't want to waste your time."

Dulph mentally noted Rotom's answer, knowing of the river, but not having explored it much.

"I do not find conversation with another to be a waste of time. Indeed, though I do journey for food, I do so more to spend my time engaged in activity than for real need of sustenance at this juncture. Though I would not restrain you from activities elsewhere, should you have need." Biddulphia was enjoying having someone with whom to converse, but he didn't care to be a burden for the other.

Rotom blinked at him. He didn't eat for substance? "Well I want to eat." Rotom liked eating. It was a surprise he wasn't fat... Anyways. "There's some berries on a bush nearby." He nodded some and nodded for the other stallion to follow as he lead the way down a small path...

It only took a couple minutes to get there, and he instantly drooled and nommed on the berries. "So do you need to eat to survive?"

Dulph nods and nibbles a few berries. "Of course. Yet I have partaken with sufficiently recently to not have need at this moment."
