Southwest Airlines kicks another passenger off the plane to accommodate a 14-year-old who needs two seatsQuote: The Bee reports that the woman paid to upgrade to Southwest's full fare so that she could fly standby on the flight. The newspaper adds she was given the "last available seat, got on board, stowed her bags and sat down – only to be told she would have to deplane immediately." That, of course, was so the airline could accommodate the heavy passenger that needed two seats. Then, the booted woman -- the Bee writes "she has asked to remain anonymous for fear some may regard her as insensitive" -- claims she was berated by Southwest workers when she questioned their decision. What the ********. What the ********. Not only do you take her seat because somebody else's excess body fat needs it, but you then have the nerve to belittle her, and she has to worry about looking like the bad guy? Discuss:
-How you would feel if you were booted off a flight because someone needed your seat for the other half of their a**.
-How you would feel if you booted someone off a flight because you needed their seat for the other half of your a**.
-Why pointing out that someone eats too ******** much and doesn't get off their ******** a** is 'insensitive'.
-The irony of a fat chick posting this. Also, scrumptaints.

If they're taking up that much room on a plane, then maybe they shouldn't be flying. Just saying.
I would probably be pretty pissed if I got kicked out of the seat that I paid for, so a girl who only paid for one seat could fit.
I would also feel awful if I were that big to push someone else out of their seat. I would also feel pretty embarrassed and probably wouldn't want people to look at me. Ever.
EDIT: Reading the rest of the article, I understand where everyone is coming from, though. Flying alone is terrifying, if you're new to it. That should have been handled better, though.

Sue that airline. I'm all for being good to fatties, but this is a thing that should've been known in advance.
Punishing people for being fit and claiming that they're insensitive to fat people is really terrible.

I honestly wouldn't want to be on a plane with someone who takes up two seats. If I heard of that I would have given that lady my seat, and then proceeded to sue the airline. That just pissses me off. How dare you kick someone off of their seat, not only that they paid for, but that they paid to ******** upgrade. Reading the article it was at least kind of them to not leave the teen alone, but I think they could have found a more willing person to give up their seat, people aren't that cold.

At the very least, people who take up that much room shouldn't be showing up to overbooked flights after they've already been boarded expecting there to be two seats empty for them.
That flight was probably super embarrassing for that girl anyway, since everyone in the cabin most likely saw that the woman got deplaned for her. Why couldn't they just have put her on the later flight? They actually did more harm than good to all parties involved with the way they handled it imo. I mean, now the 14 year old has made headlines for being too fat for an airplane seat. That's gotta do a number on your self-esteem right there.
@J: Seriously! Fat isn't a race and it isn't a sexuality. It's a case of overeating and being sedentary. It's like making fun of someone's shirt, in that they have COMPLETE AND TOTAL CONTROL OVER IT and if they don't like it they can ******** do something about it.

I'm mostly pissed off that the healthy person who paid full price for her seat is the one who has to worry about how she looks coming out of all this. Like she basically has no right to get angry that she's, in the company's eyes, less important than a 14 year old's asscheek. What the hell is the world coming to?

Not everyone has total control over it. Unless they've got a personal trainer to help them out, even if they work out they're probably not going to lose a whole lot of weight. Though, at the young age of 14, there isn't much excuse.

I was wondering that same thing. xDWho's gonna kidnap him? You would need one of the guys in the worlds strongest man competitions to lift him. I guess you could lure him with candy, but he's gonna get tired after a while, and he wouldn't fit in a ***** van. That was terrible I am sorry.

I know it's the opposite extreme, but one of my best friends eats like a horse and weighs only around 95-100lbs at 5'4". That's 25 pounds less than me, and I'm at a proper weight, apparently.
