It was a nice day. The sun was out and the area was warm, but not so much so that it made the dry earth impossible to walk on. Her paws weren't, for a change, getting burnt under the beating sunlight above her. It helped that there were small patched of grass, too, to keep her toes nice and comfortable. Really, she wasn't sure why she cared so much about what was going on with her feet.
The main thing was that it wasn't that hot.
Sighing softly, she sat herself down by a small collection of water that had gathered from the recent rain stint, drinking from the clear pool while she still could. By night fall, the pool would be gone and she'd have to travel much further for anything that resembled water. Walking was such a pain.
If she had wings, she could just fly everywhere- that would really help, she imagined. Lying herself against the ground, she let the still warm dirt heat her belly, looking at her reflection in the water.
At least she was a pretty thing.
Asali was once again trekking across new territory and wishing he hadn't left the river two days ago. Food was still not an issue, but water was quickly becoming one. The remnants of the snake from earlier was making him move a bit too slowly, but he wasn't going to stop until he found something to drink. Even when it was not as hot as it could be, he didn't like to go to long between drinks.
He kept up a light jog and his nose alert for any signs of water. Water and shade were what he needed before he could take a nap, and continue traveling that night. It looked like it would be best to just swing back toward the river, cranky crocodiles or no.
He finally got a whiff of water, but it was nearly smothered by another smell. He hoped who ever's smell it was wouldn't begrudge him a little drink as he was passing through. The grass crunched slightly under his paw pads as he came up to the small pool, closer to the ratel who was lounging beside it.
