Smooth muscles ran under the hide of the pale green female as she soon slowed to a stop. Her chest heaved with quick breaths but she walked with her head held high, like a princess looking across the land for something or someone to come. Of course she really didn't want anyone to show up because they just left quickly after words for the quick tongue of hers. Tossing her head to the side, the small strand of white and green flapped before falling back against her neck. Hair like silk flowed in the wind as it picked up and she silently wished she had another star to hold back the bang that hung in her eyes. Dark coal brown eyes stared out from the sockets and her skin was flawless except a few stickers in her tail. A soft sneer crossed her lips as they brushed against the back of her legs. She hated the feeling and she hated when they got attached. Coming to a stop, she gazed at the far place ahead of her before turning her head to look at the tail. Poor thing had black little chiggers all up and down it and with every step she walked she could feel the soft tug.
Baring her teeth slightly, she looked up at the sun as the grass brushed her sides and whispered in the wind. It was hot and she needed water so why stop and toy with a tail when she needed to drink. But vanity was a problem. With the lift of her back hoof, she tried to transfer as many of the small things on the soft feathers around her foot then used her front to scrap it off. A slow and tedious process as she felt like she was being baked alive in the summer heat. Agitation formed on her brow with each reluctant spawn of the plant and she could feel her hide twitching with the flys that landed on it. Snapping her head around she nipped at them just as one flew by. Her ears went back right away and she snorted before turning her head to gaze at the swishing tail. "Better..." She muttered.

Hot rays of sun beat down on the earth below, heating those under the warm gaze. The wind was lightly blowing, cooling those who it touched. Grass swayed in the breeze; dancing to a song only they could hear. Eyota stood under the beating sun, enjoying the warmth of its rays and how the wind tickled through his silvery mane. He did not wish to move from where he was standing because it would require walking, but the urge to have a drink of water was overwhelming. Slowly he moved, his green eyes locked on the uneven ground below him. To normal Soquili the ground would have appeared flat, devoid of any unevenness, but to Eyota the tiny holes that littered the ground were accidents waiting to happen. No matter how one looked at it, Eyota was a full time klutz. It did not matter how careful the stallion walked, he would most likely trip over his front two hooves before he got very far.
But strangely enough, the brown bodied stallion was able to walk a great distance without falling on his face. Eyota removed his gaze from the ground to take an account of his whereabouts, only to discover a mare located not too far in the expanse of plain. She was a beautiful shade of green; she had long silky light, almost white, green hair that appeared as thin as thread.
Eyota walked over to the mare, wanting to be closer to the Green Beauty as he was now calling her in his head. She was doing something with her tail; it was soon obvious to the stallion what the mare’s problem was, burrs had woven themselves deep into her long flowing pale green tail. Plus she was being attacked by vicious flies that would not leave the mare alone. The earth colored stallion made up his mind, he would help the pretty mare and perhaps learn her name during the operation of removing the burrs from her tail. That is, if she wanted his help.
“Miss, do you need help?” Eyota wished that she would say yes; it always made him feel needed if he could help a fellow Soquili out, since it’s usually the other way around.

They were mostly gone except a few from the bang above her head and the mere sight of them made her snort in agitation. How did she get those blasted things in her mane?! Shaking her head, hoping to remove the things from the hair but when she stopped, glancing closer she saw that they were now only deeper in the hair. No telling where else they were now. With a inward groan of frustration, she snapped her teeth at the flys buzzing near her head. It was always like this during this time of year. Bugs everywhere and by god she hated the little bastards because of the sound they made when they flew by her ear or when they landed on her coat. Surely, she should be used to it since she had grown up around this area but never had the mare enjoyed the company of bugs or even birds.
A voice yanked her from her thoughts and her head jerked up abruptly, with narrowed coal eyes to see a male stallion moving towards her. Ears going back, she stepped back slightly, placing her body facing towards him. Great, another stallion just to up and ruin her day from what it was already in the slums. She took in his appearance quickly; soft wavy white, almost grey, hair with a coat the color of the soil from the earth. She observed him wearily for a moment before stepping slightly, the two strands hanging from her tail shifting. All the males that had appeared out of no where made her feel like crap or where too smart for their own good. So which was this stallion now? Good, bad? Indifferent? Sucking her teeth lightly, she flickered her bang out of her face before glancing away boredly.
"No help needed here..." She said quietly, coal brown eyes flickering back to him before away once more. Of course he would walk up when it was the only time she truly did need help but never would she out right admit it. Her mother needed help constantly in the herd and she wasn't ever going to be her mother. Constantly running away from the mare's shadow, so to speak. "And it's not Miss, it's Arcadia. I am not that old..." She muttered softly the end of the words. Arcadia wasn't old at all but she wasn't as young as a colt neither. She had her 'grown up' experiences that were slowly growing more and more in her mind with each individual she met.

Eyota held his ground, not getting closer to the mare or farther (since he would most likely trip and fall and then be the one who needs help). To Eyota the many other soquili that he has encountered are more intelligent than him in many ways; he was not dumb, he was just slower than most. The other soquili knew things that the stallion could only dream of knowing, he knew the basics, but that was about it, he was not extraordinary. Eyota believed that his slowness is due to constantly hitting his head when he fell; there was no helping it. It is what it is. The mare in front of him was like the rest, she was intelligent and quick; the stallion could tell just by looking at her.
She did not need his help; the stallion did not know if it was a hint for him to leave her alone or the truth. So, he did what he would normally do in a situation like this, he stayed put. The stallion did not have trouble admitting he needed help when he truly needed help; he had long since gotten over the embarrassment of having to ask for assistance. Eyota smiled at the pale green mare, “Okay, but if you do find you need assistance, just ask,” he really wanted to be her knight in shinning armor and save her from the nasty burrs.
Forest green eyes lingered upon the mare, ‘she reminds me of green apples,’ the stallion thought to himself as he compared the mare in front of him to his favorite food. The dirt colored stallion bowed his head to the green mare, “Nice to meet you Ar-Kay-De-Ya,” He sounded out her name to commit it to memory, it was unlike any other name he had encountered before, then he winced, realizing what he just did made him appear slower than most. He did not want her to think less of him because of it, carefully he planned out his next words and said in an articulate manner, “I’m Eyota and I didn’t mean to call you old… Sorry if that offended you in anyway.”
Flies soon started to buzz around his head, causing his ears to twitch at their constant annoying Bizz Bizzz; one unfortunate fly landed on Eyota’s back, only to be swatted off with a forceful swoosh of his long silvery tail. A proud look crossed his face, he was able to do all that and still remain upright. Today was a great day for the klutzy stallion.
