well, i'm sat here minding my own business, got the TV on, same ads on at this time of the day, accident claims and low cost loans, for all the people who are home cos they're skiving off work on the sick, anyway...
one of these finance ad's, they cut to a call centre at the end and introduce you to Gareth, He's here to help (cue cheesey grin)
Here's Gareth..

That is my ex's brother, here's a shot of him for comparison

i have to say it freaked me out seeing him on tv! there was a huge row between Gareth and the rest of the family, as one day , not long after he'd moved out, he let his Mum in whilst we were all at work and she helped herself to most of the furniture!
i sent that pic to my ex, can't WAIT to see what his reply is!

It is always funny when people we have known in the past come to our attention in the strangest of ways. I am sure I have had such an experience, but with all the years I have been kicking around... I cannot recall at the moment redface too many to back track through in one sitting

Oh, well, there was the time in 1990 that *I think* I saw Cassie's father on an episode of cops. We do not speak, so no way to ask... he was a tow truck driver involved in the 'good guys' side in this particular incident, but still rofl

Ummmm, except I was so startled to see him, and fortunately had the presence of mind to start the VCR recording. Cassie is over 16 and has never met him and I was afraid that stories about him (literally) trying to kill me while I was pregnant with her, would make her later think he had no redeeming qualities. In that episode of cops there was actually a rescue effort going on, and so for her it was a good example of him bing an "okay" guy.
He was quite sneaky and such, pawning my possessions to support his habits and those of his friends, so yeah, there is a bit of hard feelings on my part. Once I even had to go into a second hand/antiques store and request that they either return a rocking chair of mine, or let the police tell them to. rolleyes Happily, Cassie exibits NONE of his charcter traits, which makes me hope he was the way he was because of the effects his bad habits had on him, if you know what I mean sweatdrop

I say those same prayers! Justin's father has habits too. Thankfully the only sign I see of them being alike is the fact that Justin is way smart. Brett was extremely smart. That's why I think he began what he did. Just because he was smart enough to know better, but did it anyway to be cool... Anyways, I know that feeling.

My sister finally got around to asking me last week how smart Cassie's father was. (being all grown, she was not around during the 6 months I had contact with him). He was actually fairly bright, but the D & A had shadowed any good that might have come from that. Sometimes I thing the smartest ones are the biggest problem, cause they think they can fool everyone.
On the upside, his daughter is very bright, maintaining a 4.0+ (ap classes) grade average for the second year (although anything less than A's has always been extremely rare for Cassie) She is wise far beyond her years, and just an all around good kid. (I suspect she also has a photographic memory because anything she reads is committed to memory from then on) Sometimes I swear she is the "40 something" and I am the kid around here. She has recently started looking into what it would take to get a Business Degree at Stanford University, and I have a hunch if she follows through with that plan, she will get it heart

Was she bored with school in the early years? Justin no longer wants to go to Kindergarden because he has already lost interest. They have him in the excelled readers program, which they usually don't even test for until well into the first grade. He helps his classmates read when ever he is in the reading area for the day. What do I do to keep him wanting to go to school though???

(I know there are a lot of spelling errors, but it is late and I am very tired!)

I suspect that is more of a boy thing, (one reason Bubba ended up home schooled from 2nd grade onward) Cassie has always been rather shy and more mature (not silly and giddy and goofy) and teachers love her. My little guy was getting in trouble at school, and when the school implied he needed drugs or they would expel him, I took him to the pediatrician who watched him get bored and start tearing paper while we talked about him *sigh*
First word, 4 months, walked 9 months, reading and using a mouse to play computer games at 3, and she said he is just very bright and wants to make things more interesting when he gets bored... She referred him for an IQ test, but it was kind of futile since the school district here does not even offer gifted classes in the 2nd grade, so home school it was, where he promptly got handed 5th grade work... and DID it! rolleyes

Tonight my sister brought him a Discovery Channel special magazine all about mummies and Egypt, etc, but I reminded him it needed to be put up until he finished sweeping the kitchen floor... thought his heart would break... but I actually love it when my kids choose reading as a treat they are willing to work for exclaim

Justin is that way too. He would rather read something than play the Nintendo right now. Although, it makes it even better when the magazine is Nintendo Power. I just wish I could afford the subscription for him. Then he would read for days...

wow jelly! That's crazy! I've never had anyone "bad" pop up like that ... but once while i was watching Sally Jesse Raphael years ago one of her audience members was my friend Heather's ex bf Kevin whom I hadn't seen in a couple years. Turned out he broke up with Heather, came out of the closet and moved to Chicago to pursure an acting career.

OH! And twice I saw friends of mine from college in movies where I didn't know they were there. My friend Nick was an extra in Dead Poets Society (he stands on the desk twice in the "oh captain my captain" scene due to some silly editing lol) That one was funny cuz both me and my friend Tanya were watching it at the same time (she in NY me here) and as I was reaching for the phone to call her, she called me with the same news about Nick.

The other time was a couple years after I left college and went to see a Jason Priestly movie "calendar girl" ... a cheesy movie about some guys who take a road trip to L.A. to meet Marilyn Monroe. Imagine my surprise when the actual lead of the movie is a guy I went to school with who was one of a group of about 10 of us who would all hang out together and go dancing and whatnot on the weekends @ school! His name is Gabriel Olds. Of course he wouldn't have remembered me to save his life cuz once I left school we lost contact, but still! It was exciting!

And lastly, this one wasn't a surprise, but another friend fromthat same group of people that included Gabe was a speaking extra in "The Interpreter" Her name is Okwui and she's the tour guide in the very beginning of the movie. It wasn't a surprise when i saw it tho...i had googled her for some reason and found her IMDB listing before I rented it...the reason I did actually.

So anyway...jelly you must update us if you hear from this slimeball! *hugs*
