Jin'Yue was a lost soul. Well, not in a pitiful way, he just...didn't know what to do with himself anymore. He had left the pride his sister had built, and in turn, seemed to disappear from. His 'mate' had been anything but. And he couldn't bear to be with his children for too long; they were adults, and didn't really need him. So he wandered. And his paws had guided him to a home he hadn't seen since he was a juvenile. The Pridelands.

"So different," he mumbled to himself as he cautiously walked into the busier part of the lands. A lot was the same, but there weren't as many familiar faces as he might have thought.

Shani had wandered off on her own while Habu entertained his recently-not-missing daughter, deciding to give them some time to themselves-- and not wanting to overwhelm the poor girl as she tried to meet the dozens of relatives she suddenly had found here in the Pridelands. So she was headed out toward the waterhole, decidedly not wanting to go anywhere isolated. Perhaps she could sit around by the water and just watch the goings-on that afternoon. It could be very interesting to just watch what everybody else was up to.

Ah. There was someone to perhaps ask. She was alone, which might make things a little easier. Less explanations and questions from others. He didn't really know what might happen, but at least it would be somewhere to start.

He followed, far behind, so hopefully if she noticed she wouldn't be upset by it. He didn't want to seem...creepy. As he approached her presumed location (as a watering hole was common), he grew a little more brave and approached her closer.

"Erm, hello," he offered, the best opening he could think of. "I was wondering if I could ask you a couple questions...about the pride."

She had no idea she was being followed after, not worried and so not paying enough attention to notice. When he got closer, she didn't have much time to really notice before he called out- and she immediately turned around. She didn't recognize him but he looked anxious, perhaps lost.

"Hello," she responded, offering a smile as he made his request, "Of course you can!" She was curious, it was unusual to see someone who had questions so far into the pride's land.. unless he were a new member, or visiting (or looking for) family, perhaps?

"O-oh, great." Now, where was he to start? He had a few questions, not too many, but it seemed that since he had a couple that really needed asking, he might as well...start there.

"I guess I should explain a bit before I shoot off some questions. I was born here, but sort of...left when I was young. So I'm a little out of the loop with what might be going on," he said with a shy smile. Returning here seemed to remind him of how he was when he was young. Innocent, trusting...not the jaded, bitter lion he had grown into.

"Do...do you know if my mother, Ausi'Juu, is still here?" She hadn't really been young when Yue was born, but he didn't think she had...died or anything.

"Oh, well! Welcome back," she said brightly, though he didn't look terribly keen on being back- and his first question seemed to clear up any question of why. He was looking for his mother, and his tone wasn't all that confident. The name definitely rang a bell, it was familiar.. though she couldn't quite place why, and it did make her feel that if she was still here she would know. Unless her being here was why it was so familiar sounding..

"The name is familiar, but I can't say for sure," she said thoughtfully, "Do you remember what rank she was?" She didn't want to say something she might regret, especially if it wasn't good news. If she were a huntress, Shani had a better chance of having seen her around as one herself.. but every other rank group was smaller in size, it might have been easier to pick it out if she was or wasn't there. Maybe.

Yue nodded. "She was a Historian, as far as I can remember. I don't know how active she was...she was black, with white and yellow marks along her body. It's how...I'm so yellow," he smirked. He was a little more worried about his mother rather than his father, since he had been closer to her than him.

"I don't know, she might have moved on. I haven't seen my father, and I think he'd be too stubborn to die," he shrugged. "It's just...nice hearing confirmation, y'know?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:20 pm

Historian? Well, she was almost certain nobody here was a historian.. but if there ever was one and Ausi'juu was it, that might have been why it seemed so familiar. A stand-out profession was one way to be remembered.

"I'm afraid there is no active historian here now," she said, frowning, "And I don't believe I have seen or heard of her lately, though the name is definitely familiar." It was hard to say it too confidently, especially when she was pretty sure it wouldn't be something a son wanted to hear.

"Oh," he grunted, feeling crestfallen for a moment. "Perhaps she left...since these weren't her homelands. I may try to find her later, maybe..." if he could remember where she lived.

"Thanks, though. That's better than wandering around trying to find her." He smiled, even if it was a bit sadly, and nodded. "I am curious as to who runs the show, now. I've heard its different, but the details have eluded me." Most rogues that he had crossed didn't care enough for details, and so he hadn't a clue.

"I'm sorry," she added when she saw the look on his face. She nodded when he tried to look on the bright side, it was better to know what the situation was.. and just because she wasn't here didn't mean she wasn't somewhere. Plenty of lions had left, lately.

"Ah, well, Simi and Tufah are the king and queen now," Shani said, pausing, wondering how to explain- a bit foggy on the details herself, "Queen Kamilika and an heir went missing, her son stepped up to the throne." This lion didn't look very old, but she couldn't say for sure how far back he had been here. Kamilika should, at least, have been a familiar name.

"I suppose the other heir was a little lost without his sister, I'm not entirely sure on the details myself," she admitted, "A council was formed shortly after Simi took the throne, though one of the council recently left us."

Jun'Yue nodded. "Seems like things have been just as interesting here as to where I went off to," he shook his head, but he was chuckling. "At least it isn't as awful as mine." Not fun to get hauled off by your sister and some...goddess to go revive a dead pride. Ah, Sen had been something else.

"Thanks for letting me know. I don't think I'll stay, but since I was close, I figured it couldn't be too bad to just see how things were." He didn't know that none of his litter mates remained, and only a few of his older siblings were still around. He would find that out a bit later, since he figured a look around wouldn't be too bad.

"Ah, I'm Jin'Yue, probably should have said that first."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:15 pm

Shani didn't know what else so say when he mentioned it wasn't as bad as where he had gone to- and apparently just come back from. She frowned sympathetically at first but tried to smile when he thanked her.

"No problem, I'm sorry I didn't have happier stories to tell," she said, brightening up a bit when he realized he hadn't introduced himself, "That's all right. I'm Shani, it's a pleasure to meet you."

.. Even if their conversation was a little grim, yes.

Yue looked a little sad. "Er, sorry. I left with my sister and a goddess, if you could believe it, when we were just barely out of cubhood. I was sort of along for the ride, and after a lot of drama, they disappeared." He shrugged. "I'm not going to sit around and wait for my crazy sister, so I decided to wander around and check out my homeland again."

A little quick version of his life, but that was it!

"Thanks for your help, Shani. Makes finding out things a lot easier than just trying to figure it out myself."

"And, well, at least it sounds like the Pridelands was able to stabilize even after what happened to the Queen...I do remember her."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:28 pm

"Oh," she murmured, surprised to hear some of his story but not at all looking like she didn't believe it. She was familiar with the concept of gods, even if she had never met one. She knew a handful of demi-gods, her own mate included. At least he seemed comfortable with telling his little story, however condensed, and didn't seem that put off about it.

"Yes, we are very lucky to have such a dedicated royal family, amongst all the other loyal members here," she said thoughtfully. A smaller pride might have suffered more from such a loss, and while they suffered they all worked through it. Somebody was able to take the throne and nobody had challenged it. There was something positive to be said for maintaining at least that aspect of normalcy despite everything. The pride had been taken by rogues before, it was a story anybody who cared to learn the history of the pride would have known.

"That's reassuring," he nodded. It would be weird if anything happened to the pride. Since...it felt like it had been here for forever. And he had heard stories from others that had always mentioned the pride as a direction point, because it had stood for so long.

"I think it might be wise to see if I could find any of my siblings. There were two left when I....left, so it might be best for me to go look for them. Thanks again for your help, you've made this a lot easier than I thought it would be."
