Seeing as there weren't really any materials that Cat needed to get for his next class besides a few targets 'borrowed' from the Melee teachers, he was enjoying himself by flicking through a few of the leftover gossip magazines. It was a little disturbing how addicting they were, especially when they were filled with just pointless information. Why did he feel the need to know everything about these people? Why?! This obviously required more studying. Needless to say, he was so sucked into these things that he likely wouldn't notice if a meteorite landed outside his window.

Vali always got a bit nervous when he was told he would be attending a new type of class. The first class he had gone too was not too bad but this one he had no earthly idea what was going to happen. He had never heard of a spirituality class. And seeing how Dooma was not very religious he had never gone to any form of church class which both of them figured this would be. He knew about the sin and virtues but he never really got into the religious thing. Most of them were too depressing so why the labs forced him to attend a spirituality class was beyond him. But here he was ready to learn something spiritual. He rolled his eyes and he knocked on the door he had been told to go too.

At the sound of the knock, Cat's wings fluttered in mild surprise. He quickly stowed the magazine in the desk, lest he be caught reading something so embarrassing, and hurried to the front of the classroom. When he opened the door, a very pleased smile grew on his face, and he stood back to let the metallic spawn come forward. "Hello! You must be Vali, it's very nice to meet you. I'm your teacher, Cat. Come in, come in." He ushered the child into the room, closing the door behind him. "So, before I begin, do you have any questions for me?"

Vali's face looks a bit shocked when Cat suddenly opened the door. He gave a nod that he was in fact Vali and entered into the room. "Thank you sir. I have a few questions but I am sure you will answer them soon enough." he looked over the desks and turned only when he heard the sound of the door clicking shut. "Though I am confused at what is a spiritual class? I mean this is not like a religious class is it?" His voice was very even though he did tilt his head to show it was a legitimate question.

Cat smiled at Vali's questions and nodded his understanding. "Yeah, I can understand your confusion; it's not really the most specific title for a class. But no, it's not a class about religion," the Eilian said with a small chuckle, "or else I probably wouldn't be teaching it."

"No, a Spirituality class is a class for spawn like you to learn about their magical abilities and being practicing them. All of your are born with an individual magical talent and my job is, after I use my own talent to learn what yours is, to teach you about it and give you some basic training. You, Vali, have the power to alter the shape of your limbs into weapons and such. For example,"
he continued, gesturing as he spoke, "you could turn your arm into a sword, or a hammer, or a spearhead, which you could then use to fight and whathaveyou." A gentle smile signified the end of the monologue. "Make sense?"

Vali gave a nod, "Good because if it were a religious class I would politely ask to leave." He said flatly. He knew that there had to be some truth to different religions after all he was a half demonic half angelic creature born from a test tube. Something hight had to be at play. But still he never really gave religion much thought. In fact he tried to avoid it as much as he could.

As Cat continued on Vali looked down at his arm and shook his head, "That can not be possible could it? I never thought that I could change up my body..." he looked down at the blades along his forearms and bit his lip. He had lost a few blades and gained some on his shoulder. Could he really shift the parts of his body like that? Form his blades into something else? He had to admit he did like the idea. "You think I could really do this?" Though his face seemed as emotionless at a blank statue his voice had a hint of excitement in it.

Cat chuckled at Vali's response, shaking his head in sympathetic agreement. "Yeah, I'd have to join you there. Talking about religion just usually leads to arguments. Plus," he added with a smirk, "I'd be a total failure at teaching it."

At the boy's question, Cat stepped forward and clapped a hand on his shoulder, shooting him a reassuring smile. "Yes, I do. Not to sound arrogant, but in my stint teaching here, I haven't been wrong about a spawn's talent yet. And don't worry, you don't have to be perfect the very first try. The point of the class is to practice and improve." He patted Vali's shoulder once again, then stepped back towards his guess.

"Now, how about we give it a shot? Close your eyes and think about what you have to do: readjust your arm's structure into something else. It could be anything: a sword, a spearhead, whatever. Just pick your favorite and give it a go."

Vali looked up when Cat placed a hand on his shoulder. The smile was meant to be reassuring but he could not help but think that the smile was hiding something. "You have not been wrong...once..." he said softly, "Practice and improve."

Not hat his teacher could see his eyes but Vali did shut them. He had thought about asking if it would hurt but he figured it would be best just to try it and see if there was pain. "My favorite weapon?" He asked as he tried to think of one. He took a deep breath and started to try and focus on shifting the blades of his right arm into something else.

He was starting to feel a strange sensation followed by a slight heat as the blade closest to his wrist started to thin out and start to curve. The only thing that had come do mind was Dooma's scythe so his blades started to shift and curve, elongating until they each met the length of her blade. But when he opened his eyes he gasped and his blades shot back to their original form. "Holy Carp!" He gasped and his other hand grasped at the blades.

Cat watched Vali closely as he attempted his readjustment. Given the violent nature of his power, it would be all too easy for him to accidentally hurt himself in the middle of practice. If that strange metal he was made of could be harmed, that is. His orange eyes widened in surprise as Vali's blades began to turn into deadly-looking scythes, and he couldn't help but chuckle at the boy's surprised reaction.

"Holy, uh, carp is right. Those were wicked-looking; very well done, Vali." He touched his hand to his chin as he thought for a moment, then he continued. "If you want to see your handiwork, however, wait until you're done completely forming the weapon. After that, you should be able to open your eyes, at least as long as you maintain your concentration as much as you can." He smiled reassuringly at Vali. "Make sense? Then try again."

Vali's face turned to show he was looking up at Cat. His mouth was held in a surprised and nervous frown. "Thank you for liking them. It is so odd feeling. Okay I will try again and try not to loose concentration. Do you think I will always have to think hard about the change?" His silver colored cheeks darkened a bit as a blush formed.

He took a breath and shut his eyes not wanting to see Cat's reaction to his blush. He lowered his head and spread both arms away from his body. He could not believe he was learning something that could be so dangerous. But he had to admit it was kind of cool to think that he would be able to shift his body. He started to think about other things he could try to shift into. "Do you have any suggestions Cat or should I try the scythes again?" His voice had a bit of excitement to it.

Cat chuckled lightly, nodding his head at his student's statement. "I bet it does. I mean, obviously I have no actual idea, but the concept alone..." The twitchy hippogriff could not suppress a shiver, running his fingers nervously along his forearms. "It certainly doesn't sound comfortable." Caught up in his own imagined discomfort, Cat didn't spot the blush that crossed Vali's face, but instead smiled to him with a nervous spasm of his wings. "That's good. And yes, although the amount of concentration should deplete with time. If you practice diligently, it could get to a point where your weapon will appear as soon as you visualize it."

As the boy prepared to make his shift again, Cat blinked at his question. To be honest, he hadn't expected his input would be needed; his generalized conception of young males made him think that he would just need to describe Vali's power to him and he would have oodles of fun changing his arm into every dangerous thing possible. Therefore he had to pause and tap his chin thoughtfully for a moment, casting out his mind to pick something dangerous and pointy. "Hmmm... Why don't we try something smaller? It'll be easier to maintain that way. How about... A hook, perhaps?" He smiled sidelong at the metallic boy.
